Property Ratings at District at Linworth
Don’t live here, and don’t ever rent from The Connor Group. Red flag #1: there’s a Facebook group with tenants from all of their properties discussing their problems with this company. Our first (of many) first-hand red flags was when we discovered upon move-in that there were exposed spikes from where the carpet had been lifted by the previous tenant. After almost two months and stepping on the spikes at least twice, they finally repaired the carpet after I told them I’d sit in the office with my bloody foot the next time I stepped on the spikes. The apartment was clearly not well-prepared for our move-in, as the cabinets were dirty and we found dog food on multiple occasions. It was around that point that they finally decided to give us the master mailbox key to our unit, because up until the two-month mark of our lease, we had to go into the office, ask for our mailbox key, and proceed to wait until they found it wherever the last person misplaced it. (We still have the master key as of 12/6/23.) At this point we also realized our dishwasher wasn’t washing our dishes correctly, which took another month and a half to fix. The dishwasher subsequently broke again in the same way two weeks later, and the next repair was completed a few days short of the one-month mark. This speedy repair was only because I informed the office that our rent would be paid into escrow that month if they decided to ignore us again. Once you sign a lease, it’s like you don’t exist to the leasing office. You can ask them things in person, you can call, you can email, but the likelihood of things getting done is slim to none. It took me sitting in the office and refusing to leave for them to give me a copy of our lease after we’d moved in. Fun fact: we have a low-priority maintenance request from 8/30/23 that we’ve been waiting to see if they’d ever show up for. As of 12/6/23, they have not. And if all of this doesn’t scare you away, let’s talk utilities: we have a community AT&T package here. 1 GIG rates for that on their site: $80. We pay $130 A MONTH for internet alone. One final note on the heartlessness of this company: we submitted a letter for compassionate termination of our lease due to mental health issues that were being exacerbated by living here. Their response from their lawyers was “[u]nfortunately, many people are living through stressful times on a daily basis.” Don’t live here. They don’t care about you. They just care about making money off of you.
Do not move here if you ever want to get some sleep. I have complained repeatedly about excessive noise after quiet time. The managers are not only incompetent but have done nothing to remedy the situation. I am still waiting after several months for several things in my apartment to be fixed. For what they charge you would think that the tenants would be more of a priority. Do not waste your time and move here.
We moved in back in 2021.. we had a certain date we were supposed to move in but upon the move in date the apartment was filthy! Dead bugs on the window seals, dust for days, floors that have been pulled up and broken, a smell that smacked you in the face from previous owners due to dirty carpets, all over all so disgusting. We had to have them come back not once but twice to come and clean- delaying the day we were able to move in. We had asked for pieces that belong on our patio from the day we move in, and to the day we moved out they were still not placed on our porch. Always seemed to claim that they “were on back order”. A year in we were pushed into having our internet go into our rent payment. We were paying $60.00 a month for just internet and then once the change was made we had to pay $100.00 for the same exact internet. They informed us they are doing this to ensure us that “we don’t have an increase in price”…. Just for them to raise it to $130.00 not even a year later. They charge a $40.00 trash fee for you to have to walk your trash down to the dumpster and most of the time it’s overfilled onto the streets. They are now making it mandatory for valet trash which is AN EXTRA charge on top of the $40.00 fee they already charge. When you are close to the lease ending they will call you multiple times a month to see what your plans are. They even come in to your apartment to give you a good rate that they are “only giving to a few apartments” but you have to sign today. This place will do anything to get your money. Upon move it we 1000% left it cleaner than what we moved into. However they charged us fees for having to clean stains in the carpet.. because we had put no effort into cleaning them. My boyfriend works from home and that’s where he sat 9 hours a day every day for work… it’s normal wear and tear. On top of the ridiculous fees they are not proactive at getting back to you in a professional manner. It’s always we are busy or there are emergencies we had to take care of. Just beware. It was a nice area and we enjoyed the location but the management is not great. A lot of turnover in employees in just the two years we were there.
I can’t say enough positive things about my experience so far! The office staff is amazingly attentive and caring, the maintenance team never disappoints… I know how hard they work to keep the community running and I cannot thank them enough! My apartment is PERFECT! I would HIGHLY recommend this complex.
If you want trash around your patio or your car broken into or a dirty gym and pool, this is your place!!!!!!! Ever since Conner took over it’s been a nightmare! No kidding!
some residents at The District have had their cars broken into recently. I just found someone’s wallet strewn all over my backyard and he said his car had been broken into. A year ago, my car was rifled through, but nothing taken. There are also posts on a FB resident site where residents are posting about their cars getting broken into recently. I used to love this place before the new management took over 2 years ago. We used to have a heated pool open April through October and clean amenities. Yesterday the office just sent an email threatening to only have the pool open during office hours for all residents rather than find the “problem” (someone had broken glass in the pool) and taking care of it-so take that into consideration if you love coming to the pool and being treated like an adult. The grills used to be clean, there were resident events, and management was there to hear our concerns as tenants prior to this management, so I’m not very happy living here now. I wish I could stiNow I am forced to pay 99 for internet that I used to pay 39 for because you HAVE to sign up for internet through them. (Same speed, same company, same box) they also charge extra for garbage that is not included in the lease. I don’t even have valet garbage and pay around 50 bucks a month to throw my stuff in their dumpsters. just a lot of “fees” that aren’t necessary. the apartments are nice and roomy. I could hear my neighbor snoring through the walls and other things in the bedroom I didn’t want to hear, so beware of that if you like quiet. in addition, the coffee machine doesn’t work correctly about 50% of the time I go to use it. if you’re coming for the amenities, i hope you have better luck than I did.
The management office here is deceitful and shady. You hear many different things from different people who work in the office, nothing is straight forward, they tell you they had already shred papers so you don’t get a security deposit back.
High turnover for management and nothing ever gets handled. When you complain about things not being taken care of, they blame it on the prior manager that they had to fire. They raised the rent by $600 in one year. The Conner Group is seriously awful.
Time wasted. Pricing much higher once I arrived for tour. Lots of hidden fees.
It seems that the apartment is not being maintained that well. I asked to have my cabinets fixed because the veneer is peeling off on almost every door. I have asked five times to have them fixed but was told each time they could/would not do it. On top of that they told me the rent was going to increase $500 dollars unless I sign a contract right away so that my contract would only go up $300. I told them I would not consider signing a new contract if they did not fix my cabinets, give me a new washer and dryer, and keep my rent the same. The response was to show up at my door ask me to sign the new lease and tell me they were not going to fix my cabinets. The big issues: 1-Will not fix expensive items. Asked to have cabinets fixed for four months. 2-The trash is always overflowing. There is only one trash bin which is not sufficient for the complex. 3-There is dog poo everywhere. 4-There is a train that drives by five times a night. 5- The grass has been dying all over and turning into mud.
Been here a few years and was happy so renewed with new management company. It was a mistake. They added a $44 garbage fee, as garbage piles up, an administrative fee and you have to get internet from them and they charge you $30 more then if your just were billed by ATT. Whatever you think your rent is add $150-200. The clubhouse was free to use and now costs $300. Weeds overgrow the fenced property line so ticks are an issue for dogs. They removed one dog park that was big enough for large dogs to run. Paying so much more and getting less.
I moved in recently and everyone has been wonderful and has gone out of their way to help me. Ty has been great since I first toured the complex months ago. He is very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Ty even helped with issues I had with my previous landlord during the application process. You can tell that he genuinely enjoys talking to the residents. I am very happy with my choice to move here!
I live here. I had just signed my new lease when the new management company took over. Wish I had never re-signed. The new management- the Conner Group- is one of the absolute worst management companies I have ever lived under. Between piles and piles of garbage around the compactor because they can’t seem to schedule correct pickups, the fact that I now live in a giant jack o’lantern colored building and that they DESTROYED the dog park- I am so fed up. I have already signed a waitlist lease elsewhere. The Conner Group does not care about its residents at all. They’ve demonstrated it repeatedly. They have even gotten rid of one of the best things about living here- the many amazing resident events we used to have.
