Directly across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., Arlington is less a suburb than an extension of the nation’s capital. It’s the home of the Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, with a number of waterfront parks offering beautiful views across the river to the National Mall.
The community provides a wide range of living options, from apartments, townhomes, and duplexes to condos and houses. A major reason for Arlington’s popularity is that there is so much to do. Washington may be packed with monuments, museums, and other sightseeing landmarks, but Arlington holds the advantage when it comes to the more day-to-day shopping, dining, entertainment, and nightlife.
You’ll have several options for getting around town or into D.C., whether you choose to drive, take the Metro, or ride your bike — Arlington has earned a silver rating from the League of American Bicyclists.

Property Ratings at Dominion Plaza
Dominion plaza is not the place to live if you are looking for something nice in the area. The building is old and very under kept, residents consistently smoke cigarettes and weed in their units, and the hallways reek of bad food. The mail room has smelled like urine since I moved in, and the stairwells are vandalized and dirty. The only good things about this place is the pool/courtyard area. My best advice would be to spend the extra money to live somewhere nice. This place is not worth it.

Sorry to hear about your experience. We will look into the items you mention. We are happy you are enjoying the pool during this hot summer! - The Team at Dominion Plaza
I walked in to Dominion Plaza to see apartments for my sister. I had a pleasure meeting Elshadai the leasing manager, she welcomed me very well without hesitation even though I walked in without the appointment lol she is very kind, very clear, knowledgeable and friendly. I have a little problem of speaking English because it’s my 3rd language and she was very patient and make me feel comfortable. I told my sister to put the application and I am also coming to this place once I finish my lease next year. The apartment are very specious and exact like pictures on the website, price are fair for the location and the apartment( it worth it). I am very excited for my sister and I can not wait to hangout with her when she moves in. Thank you so much elshadai, I hope to see you soon ????

I am NOT the type to be a Karen and write reviews, let me start with that. Dominion Plaza is nice for the location and the amenities they offer. The staff works very hard to keep the property clean and put together. The front desk staff is also amazing and truly wishes to help you out; except for one person. The woman who runs the front desk at Dominion Plaza (M-F, 7AM-3PM) has made it very clear that she runs the place. I have never experienced so much sarcasm, and "shade" from a customer service professional. Please read the similar views regarding the service.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the unusual experience. We take all feedback seriously and will address this issue with our team. Thank you again for your review.
This place has been going down hill since March when new management stepped in. The elevators are always broken which can make it inconvenient if you live on the 8th or 7th floor, I’ve seen roaches in the building (exterminators use to come spray the whole building once a month but I guess new management stopped that), the morning receptionist during the week is not friendly at all and they removed the water dispenser from the gym. They have SPIKED the prices of these apartments. Please don’t move here, there is better for the price you’ll pay. New management does not care about residents AT ALL.

Hi there. We're extremely disappointed to hear this feedback and hope we can speak with you directly about your experience. Please give our office a call when you can so we can learn more and address your concerns. Thank you and we hope to speak with you soon.
I'll start by saying I am NEVER the kind of person who posts negative reviews online. In fact, I even wrote a glowing review for this building when I moved in two years ago. But I have truly run out of options to reach Dominion Plaza and Akelius. After a literal overnight change in management more than one month ago, Akelius has failed to provide even basic communication with residents. On the evening the acquisition was announced, I forwarded a detailed email thread and documents about my upcoming end of lease/move out to the email address we were instructed to contact going forward. I asked Akelius to provide written confirmation that nothing about my move out would change under their management. I never heard back on this matter, despite three more follow-up emails, multiple calls to the leasing office, physical copies of my move-out paperwork, and even sitting in the lobby during business hours waiting to talk face-to-face with management. So now, I am less than two weeks from moving out of state, and have yet to receive any confirmation of my end-of-lease, details about move-out inspections, or information about my security deposit. The current payment portal states I owe a full month's worth of rent for June, which clearly goes against my current lease since I will move out prior to June 30. When I noted this on one of my many trips to the front desk, I was told it "will be updated" but I've yet to see any changes in my portal. Perhaps the most infuriating part of new management is that, while residents wait for any sort of communication from Akelius, the company had no problem prioritizing a repaint of the leasing office and a disruptive renovation to the package room. Unsurprisingly, the package notification system hasn't been set up yet, so the package room is overflowing with unclaimed packages. Residents are regularly told to come back later because staff are either trying to sort through the room or they simply aren't able to find the right package. Overall, the five weeks under Akelius have made me grateful I decided to move out of this building. I let the leasing office know that I will be withholding my rent payment for my final month due to the portal issue, but even that doesn't seem worthy of a response. The single star is reserved for the on-site staff who are trying their absolute best and have graciously tried to help me in whatever ways they can.
I really love dominion plaza and the team. The area is so peaceful and clean. The stuff is so friendly, funny, helpful, good energy and know how to communicate with any prospect and residents. I would also love to say thank you and appreciate Elshadai for helping us with everything. She is a great leasing consultant.

I accidentally walked in to Dominion Plaza on my way to visit Dominion Towers. I am so glad that I did! The reception I had from the staff was the best experience Ive ever had with a leasing office. I was given a comprehensive tour of the building. The amenities such as bike storage, a pool, and business center were exceptional. The units themselves were beautiful: modern in design and aesthetic, and brand new appliances. As a matter of personal preference, the design appealed to me more than the other similar buildings in the area. The staff in the leasing office stood out the most to me, however, as they were professional, informative, and treated me with extraordinary warmth and charm. The Plaza was gorgeous to me, but I would happily rent a cardboard box if it was managed by staff such as these and I was given the same exceptional experience.

Dominion Plaza is a convenient place to live. With updated apartment interiors and exterior renovations, the property is a good bang for your buck. The community is very peaceful and we rarely hear outside noise. The location is walking distance to several restaurants and grocery stores. There are excellent regional transportation options close by as well. Beyond the management, the property lacks professional staff and the hallways and elevators are eerily outdated. Overall, it a good place to live but would be unbeatable with a few additional modifications.

I have been a resident of Dominion Plaza for over 20 years, and I appreciate the continuing efforts made by Dominion Plaza's management and staff (at all levels) to ensure the needs of the tenants are met while simultaneously continuing to upgrade the building. I look forward to all the repairs and the renovations on Dominion Plaza to be finalized and the building to be restored to its original state.
I found this place on Apartments.com and toured as soon as I could. Their website was easy to navigate to reserve an in person tour which I really appreciated. Nana was SO helpful and even let me come back a day later for a second tour to ask more questions. I was able to reserve the apartment I toured and wanted and was moved in less than a month later. I've been here a month and feel so at peace every day when I wake up. This was such a great move!

The staff of Dominion Plaza are very friendly and make an effort to know your name and help out with any issues. Maintenance requests are taken care of within a 24 hour time frame, and we are kept apprised of community developments. Water in the shower isn't always the hottest, but even then it's still warm. Parking is generous, and we are in walking distance of many community areas on Columbia Pike.

Property management is very supportive and helpful all the time. They take their time to check on residents and assist as much as they can. The front desk is so warm to residents as well. Less incidences of nuisance behavior from residents. I recommend it for those looking for a quite neighborhood

Management is always receptive to my remarks or maintenance requests. I also appreciate that they're doing "the little things" - offering breakfast on the go, organizing low-key community events, and making small improvements that go a long way, like switching laundry service providers or adding new ways for residents to pay rent.

Nice place with decent helpful staff. It is being managed well. So far so good.
I have lived here for 3 years and it has become my favorite place to live, it has a convenient location, people who works here are very pleasant, they always are ready to help you,
Rats, horrible management, random charges, horrible security, broken elevators, dirty carpets, horrible renovations for apartments(literally just paint over everything to make it look clean), ac/heat randomly being shut off without warning, broken washing machines, random water cutting off, getting towed and charged $160 randomly for offenses as simple as having a tire touching the line, the management doing literally anything in their power to strip tenants of money, and pretty much anything else that can be wrong with a building exists here. Don’t let the fabricated pictures they show off on their website fool you.

I moved to Arlington from Oregon. It was a huge move, I did it alone, and it was tough. However, everything about where I was landing (Dominion Plaza) was stress free because of the staff, and more specifically, because of Amar. He made himself completely available for me and answered question after question from me. He also sent me photos of the units and of the property, generally. The service he provided put me at ease and made that really hard experience a little easier. Im so grateful to him. Ive now lived here about a month and every part of this has been lovely. My apartment is renovated and its GORGEOUS. The appliances are all brand new, the AC works great, the grounds/community spaces are clean, the washer/dryers are high quality, theres a bike room, and the mail/package pickup systems are flawless. Further, Im continuously and consistently impressed by the staff. They are friendly, helpful, and kind. They genuinely care that the residents enjoy our homes, and they are easy to connect with. I feel incredibly lucky that everyone treats me so well, it makes Dominion Plaza even more comfortable. The staff is one of the best Ive experienced at an apartment complex. Finally, the location is great and there is recycling! You can walk to restaurants and to get groceries/coffee, and the complex is close to all kinds of other things (including two rock climbing gyms!). Its also a controlled-access living situation, which I love because Im a single woman living alone. I feel very safe here. I love living here and I feel lucky every day that I found Dominion Plaza. I cannot day enough positive things about this living experience!
Right now,all I can say is you are doing an excellent of managing the place and I hope it will not change.
It's located close to a lot of amenities, the metro bus, shops, library, clinics, parks etc. The apartments are also upgraded with new kitchen and floors
Great staff, beautiful apartment and surrounding areas. No loitering or noise complaints. Responsive staff, clean common areas and on-going improvements. Our family loves our new home.
Overall a good place to live. Considering the market, rents are reasonable with good amenities. The recent apartment upgrades have really improved the living experience.
Tranquilidad
A wonderful place to live. I have made many friends here, the location is so convenient to shops, restaurants, hospitals, etc. The rent is doable esp. in it being so close to the nations capital.
Dominion Plaza is a no-frills, clean, affordable apartment community with friendly residents and staff. Maintenance issues are handled professionally and quickly.
Dominion Plaza is a nice place to live.
I have noted very positive changes being implemented by the Community Manager. The staff also friendly and very cooperative. Living here is very easy and nearly stress-free
I have been living here for the past 1.5 months now and I feel at home. The staff here are friendly and they remember you. This is how I would like to come home everyday. And any issues or inquiries I have, they are always there to help.
Since Bell Partners has taken over this property there have been non stop issues with their “renovation” The elevators are terrible, constantly breaking down, water shut offs happening constantly which they do 9 am-5pm, great for people who work Mon-Friday 9-5 but horrible for those of us that work in the evenings and weekends. (bottled water at front desk which they regularly run out of doesn’t help us take showers) They spent 3 days painting our doors which are embarrassingly sloppy for the amount of time they set aside and they clearly have no one checking since every door I pass still has green bits peeking out from the old color. I still don’t know what kind of staffing they have overnight since half the time I get home after work around midnight the front desk is closed and locked up, and there is never security in the lobby who was always there before this company took over. Still waiting to find out when the 8 day renovation for inside the apartments is going to take place, but for those of us who are going to have to relocate during those days since we work at night, I sincerely hope some level of compensation will be offered. Doubtful that I will be renewing this lease, and definitely not going to happen if there is an increase in rent. There should be a decrease for all of us that have had to endure this terrible process.

Hi Flannery, thank you for your feedback. We would like to discuss some of your concerns here! After speaking with the on-site team, we understand in the past there were elevator issues, but there have not been any that they are aware of for some time. If you know of any current elevator issues, please feel free to let them know. We apologize for any inconvenience the occasional water shut-offs cause. The front desk has overnight shifts Fridays and Saturdays, but not during the remainder of the week. Regarding the renovation process, it will last 5 days and is announced by floor. Once it is announced, residents on that floor can attend a town hall meeting to learn more about what will take place. If you are home during the day, there will be an apartment set up as a quiet space that you are more than welcome to use! We hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to contact management should you have any questions! - Lindsay, Bell Customer Service
A really nice place to call home. I look forward to going back to my apartment. Im currently staying in one of the renovated units and its absolutely beautiful. Love the colors they chose. The appliances are brand new and stainless steel. I just love it. People are friendly and helpful. Whenever I have any questions, they are always ready to help you out. And since I started living here, they have ongoin renovation of the place and alot have improved during one month.
The place is in a good, quiet community, located in an area that is close to many amenities at walking distance. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There's a lot of renovations going on to improve service to customers.
Never go for it...!!! They do water shut off without proper notice. They send mail after shutting off as its emergency shutoff and water bottles will be available at front desk. But if you go and ask for water bottles, they question you back as you don't have the habit of keeping bottles in fridge and give you 1 small water bottle. What the hell you can do with 1 water bottle. Harsh front desk people....!! Currently renovation is going on. Its causing lot of trouble for residents. They were doing painting work in the corridor, and when i stepped out of my home, they were asking me to stay inside home and come out after 15 mins. what a worst management...!! You pay a huge amount as rent and stay in worst apartment.

Hi Lakshmi, thank you for leaving your comments. We apologize for the inconvenience of the water shut-off; because it was an emergency, there was not enough time to provide ample notice, however the team did send an email out to residents explaining the shut-off. The office provides typically 2 water bottles per person; if you did not receive 2, please let them know. Management is looking into your concerns regarding the construction, as this should not impede your ability to come and go. Thanks for bringing this to our attention! - Lindsay, Bell Customer Service
The management failed to clean and fix the issues that were existing before we even moved in. And, on top of that, they did not resolve those even after 5-6 days of moving in! They at last completed after me complaining them for 3-4 times. I did not expect this kind of service for newly moved in people.
Concerns to consider before signing your lease: * Management change to Bell Partners has resulted in frequent turnover in staff, significant rent increases (mine went up 10% in twelve months and frustrating communication issues. There has been a clear shift from prioritizing residents to prioritizing profit and the quality of living has plummeted. * This is an awesome location but it’s an old building. Know that the water pressure is weak at best, the air vents have two inches of dust, and the binary heat/AC system is a major challenge with recent weather patterns. Appliances are poor quality and the windows haven’t been washed in more than two years. * The website indicates we have a club room. We don’t. The website indicates we have a new fitness center. We have two treadmills, an elliptical, and a rowing machine in a basement with blue and orange painted cinder block walls. The machines are at least ten years old but the weight set is a recent upgrade. * This building previously had 97% occupancy with the majority of the staff residing on-site (property manager, maintenance, front desk). Now there is maybe one staff member who still lives on-site and ten vacant units listed. I’ve seen the majority of my neighbors leave. * The maintenance and veteran front-desk staff continue to exceed standards and are one of the only reasons the community is still livable. That, and parking/utilities included. However, know that you must visit the front desk to obtain a special parking pass for any visitor lest they have a permanent sticker glued to their car. Previously, this was a safe and close-knit community that felt affordable in exchange for the concessions that are a given in an older building. If this building’s current rates are your price point then opt for another of Arlington’s many properties. This one is a wannabe competitor but lags far behind its competitors in consistently high quality standards. Shame on Bell Partners and the destruction they have caused to one of Arlington’s best kept housing secrets.
New (although they have been here long enough that being 'new' shouldn't be an excuse) management staff is completely incompetent. It took them weeks to respond to my questions about my lease, and when I came back to the office ti follow-up why I hadn't heard a response, I was given attitude that I was wasting their time. It was extremely frustrating process, and, on top of that, the building constantly has things breaking and not fixed in a timely fashion.

We have lived at Dominion Plaza for years, and we had imagined calling Dominion Plaza our home for years to come. Now, we cannot wait to leave. Since Bell Partners took over managing the complex, we have faced a series of problems. Maintenance teams have been under-resourced, under-staffed and overworked. What results is elevators that close dangerously quickly, if they close at all; elevators that do not work regularly or break down each and every weekend; a consistent lack of hot water that takes weeks to address; air conditioning that breaks down within one week of turning it on for the complex. Never, had we experienced any of these problems under previous management. Yet, in a span of just a few short months under Bell Partner's supervision, we experienced all of these. Not only do these problems worsen our living experience, but the lives of seniors or families with small children are significantly more complicated: without functioning--or dangerously functioning--elevators, the building is no longer handicap accessible and children could be hurt by the elevators. Similarly, a non-functioning air-conditioning system puts people at risk of overheating, a serious health hazard during Virginia summers. On top of all this, either because people are moving out due to the poor management and high rents, or because of a concerted effort by the management to save money, trash has piled up in dumpsters right outside entrances, exacerbating pest problems. Every day we walk through the basement to access the car park and we see the carcasses of dead cockroaches littering the ground. All of these problems have occurred amid the backdrop of a huge increase in rent to our unit (hundreds of dollars more per month). If, for instance, significant improvements to the apartment had been made, such as higher quality kitchens and bathrooms, nicer gym amenities, better appliances, etc., a 30% increase in rent would be more understandable. Instead, we live in increasingly decrepit and ill-maintained conditions. The management believes that this unraveling situation can be solved simply by hosting "meet and greets" with stale popcorn, a box of fruit snacks purchased at Costco, and some bottles of water. Their thinking is offensive.
