Property Ratings at Dominion Towers
It is the worst apartment I have ever lived in. They have raised my rent twice in less than a year. They steal my orders and the administration doesn't say anything. They don't want to give me parking. They charge me. It has a horrible bad smell. The people who work in the offices talk. Very bad for those of us who live in the building, I have complained many times because they have raised my rent and the manager said she would call me and she never calls me. I call the office and they don't answer the phone. They send me charges for no reason and I have to pay them. Because if I don't increase the amount I pay and they come back and charge me and they don't give me a logical explanation. The man who cleans is a very bad person. The manager only solves whoever she wants. It's not fair that they are charging me a very expensive rent when in The website has the cheapest price and it is the worst thing that has happened to me, living here, I will go to court to fight my case since the manager does nothing to resolve it, do not move to Dominion Towers so that you do not regret it, it is very bad. service and they charge very expensive
Over Memorial Day weekend there was NO WATER & AC. It lasted for five days! No immediate intervention when it happened. More WATER shut down in May - June. Worse, NO COMPENSATION from the management. I lived in three different apartments before and I’ve never experienced lack of management in many levels. Package thieves, water shut downs (this happens very OFTEN) and no AC for a more than 5 days!
This place doesn't even deserve a star. Where do I begin? the building is literally falling apart, you find garbage at all times on the floor, elevator, lobby everywhere. Package lockers don't work so they leave them on the floor and the neighbors steal them, they stole 10 of my packages and when I went to complain that they didn't do anything about it they told me they couldn't do anything, they even told me that if I wanted I could steal them too since they wouldn't do anything about it. The person in charge of taking out the garbage, takes it out at 6:45 am Monday through Sunday making a huge noise, breaking bottles without meaning, I couldn’t sleep , I reported and they lied to me saying they would change people and it never happened. Up to 10 people live in an apartment and they do nothing about it. I stepped on poo like 5 times because is dog poop around the entire building and no one picks it up. They do not have control of who enters because people go through a store in the basement so anyone can enter, I saw people stealing packages and entering an apartment, I reported it, nobody did anything. The washing mashing never works, the “ gym “ that they offer as part of the apartment doesn’t exist , literal they have 3 machines and all of them are broken , It doesn't even have weights, I reported it they said they would come in a week that i should be patient, 8 months later they never came so I never could use the gym . The maintenance guys never fix anything, the lock on my door broke so I couldn't close it which is a big problem, it took them 1 week and half to fix it, and finally my apartment was full of cockroaches, I reported it and They went after 2 weeks !!!!! They gave me a $2 pill that you get at walmart which did not solve the problem, living here was the worst nightmare. don't make the mistake i made to save a few dollars it was the worst mistake

I have been here a long time, over 10 years, and I have seen the good and the bad, but the good far outweighs the bad. First of all, there is just a friendly vibe here, from the office staff to the maintenance staff, to the cleaning crew. I feel like everyone is working really hard to keep this a great place to live. I have had many dealings with the office staff, and find them to be friendly and willing to make sure issues are handled quickly and fairly. The maintenance staff is the best. I have never had to wait more than a day for a repair, even if I made it a low priority, and they too are friendly and always willing to explain the problem. And iif there is an emergency, they are here promptly. I won't say there aren't problems, of course, there are, just like anywhere else. But some of these problems could be avoided with the help of the tenants. For example roaches. I'm sure every single apartment building on the planet has a roach problem at one time or another, but a roach problem requires everyone to be on the same page, a far as leaving out food and messes. The washers and dryers do seem to be an ongoing problem here. People are having to go around to different floors to find ones that are working, and that's inconvenient for sure. I would say that they are doing a better job of sending out e-mails about water shutoffs and such, and also about anytime they are going to need to do anything in our apartments. Sometimes they are not as attentive to e-mails as they could be, but all in all not bad . Also, the lighting on the property should be better maintained and fixed for security reasons. Before the Pandemic, the staff was always running special events here, like parties, picnics, movie nights, and giveaways. I believe they are really trying to make this place a great place for us to live. All in all, in my humble opinion, the good far outweighs the bad here, and if ALL of the tenants got on board, and really tried to do the right things as far as trash, some of the bad things would disappear as well. And seriously, what place anywhere doesn't have any problems? I know friends who live in swanky apartments and have worse problems than anything here! It really requires a group effort, if we're to make this the best home we can or all of us.
Yes - the rent price is low compared to other apartments in the area. This is the ONLY "good" thing about this building. If you visit, the "lobby" is relatively clean and tidy DON'T BE FOOLED! Walk around the floors (and particularly the basement floor) and look at the trash and laundry rooms - you will see right through the facade. Gosh, where to being. - Laundry and Dryers rarely work (constantly out of order or other mechanical failures) -Cockroaches and bugs (although I've never seen any mice!) - Packages rarely get delivered due to no package handling system by apartment. Carriers either leave your package on the ground on the basement floor to be stolen or opened by others or will just refuse and cancel the delivery. - Office is open only on weekdays and closes at 5pm, they don't answer the phone or voicemail, and 'emergency' Maintenance is unreachable unless you specifically ask the office for their number. - There is no guest parking, and no function for letting guests (or delivery people) into the building. There are entrance intercoms; that don't work. - Apartment units themselves are old and deteriorating, not to mention it's SO OLD you have to sign a waiver saying they are not liable for LEAD PAINT related health issues (although they assure you they have painted over the walls several times) - Tenants are S H A D Y there are constantly people in the parking lot at night making "deals" and strong weed scent. - They say there are reserved parking spaces in their brochures and whatnot, but many tenants have been on the "waiting list" for years. Not necessarily the building management's fault, just don't think that amenity is available. Heed my warning: it's NOT WORTH THE PRICE! Find a way to increase your budget by $200-$300 and find a functioning apartment complex. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BEING LURED IN BY THE PRICE.

Bugs, trash, poor lighting... still a problem. only 2 washers & 2 dryers on every floor and at least 1 isnt working everyday (w/40+ apts per floor). (also, plan on $2/wash, $2/dry - adds up fast). Front desk super nice - but doesn't always act on problems unless you remind them several times. parking is tight on weekends and evenings - Advanced towing is quick to tow! little guest parking options. A few friendly neighbors but there are some loud ones... and hope you like the smell of weed - pretty common both inside and out.

I recently went to look at Dominion Towers for an apartment. I was given a tour of the facility and I can tell you it is not in good condition. The hallways are incredibly poorly lit. It was the middle of the day, and sunny outside, but I felt unsafe walking down the hallway with how poor the visibility was. I would not feel comfortable being in the hallway at night as it is not easy to see. I was told the building is "working on fixing the lights." I'm not sure what that means. It's not a great way to convince someone to live in your apartment complex. The business center floor is disgusting. The carpet is covered in stains. It is incredibly questionable. I instantly left Dominion Towers and went to sign another lease at my current apartment as that building has none of these issues. I would not recommend wasting your time going to look at the place.

3rd time in my past 10 months here where the management either processed rent checks LATE/try to charge utilities EARLY/ try to make you pay your pet rent EARLY... and tried to CHARGE residents for THEIR mistake. If you guys are residents here. Keep copies of everything. Make sure they sign those copies and receipts for any payments you make because if you don’t have any proof they’ll make sure they charge you for THEIR mistake. For future apartment residents who are reading these reviews. Trust me. I did the same thing. I said “Eh it can’t be that bad” “the reviews are probably just whiney pissed off residents”. “I just need something close to DC” Nope. Keep looking else where. Or don’t believe me? Come walk the building yourself. Look at the walls. Look at the outside. There’s an emergency exit door that has been broken and closed off for about 3 weeks now. The “package center” is just a open space where the deliver people throw your packages into an open room and you have to go scavenge for your stuff. That’s just the start. Don’t get me started on the HVAC and water shut offs. Again. Take the reviews seriously. Save yourself your money, time, stress and sanity. - Resident who has always paid rent early (and has proof) but has now been disappointed 3 times and had to speak up about the experience here. (Mind you It took me 10 months of horrible experiences to finally speak up and post a negative review like the rest of the other reviews just because I’m a person who likes to believe it can get better, NOPE.)
Where to start; the people in the leasing office are very rude, Huge bug problem, everything always breaks, complex is always dirty, you will get towed because they are inconsistent with their towing rules. Only thing good about this place is the location and the convenient store. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
DO NOT MOVE HERE! Horrible management- rude, unhelpful, confrontational and you have to ask multiple times before request is fulfilled. The heat light in my bathroom exploded on my back and was smoking. When I went to the office to report they looked at me in disbelief and took there time calling maintenance. The issue was finally fixed and management wouldn't write and incident report although my back was burned from the shattered glass. Management denied my on time monthly rent payment twice and then requested I pay a 10% late fee. I had to contact the owners of the building in order for my rent payment to be accepted. Then the refrigerator went out and I had to wait for maintenance to give me a new one. All my food spoiled and management said that's why I have renter insurance. The deductible for my insurance is $250 which is how much I lost in groceries. Air went out for 2 week with no estimation of fixing. When they finally did get a replacement unit it's so loud- sound like a vacuum is on all day and night. I went to management to report and management said I should just be thankful to have air. I have to sleep with ear plugs to get any peace and quiet. We can't go swimming in the pool because the apartment complex can't find any lifeguards to work. And all the incidents I have noted has happened in the span of two months. Oh and the building is ROACH INFESTED. I keep my apartment and kitchen clean and I still see roach all the time. WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T MOVE HERE!
Mouses in all the units of the apartment! Unhealthy living conditions Bad management

It's an older building without a washer and dryer in my actual unit. There is one on each floor that you have to pay for it and share with other residents. The elevator takes forever to get to your floor and the door gets stuck open a lot and takes forever to shut. Being that this is an older building that the walls between apartments would be thicker but that is not true for this apartment. There is a market on the basement level which is pretty convenient for the times I forgot to get a main ingredient from the grocery store or just want to pick up something really quick. However, it brings in a lot of unwanted traffic because it is also for public use. This community also doesn't have covered parking so I am not excited about this years snow season. It is also pet friendly so it smells a lot. Especially at the parking entrance and on the basement level.
This is my first apartment, so I have no similar experience for comparison. However, this building is pretty decent. The office staff is cordial, maintenance is respectful and generally prompt. Pet friendly community and there's a dog park within walking distance. There's a convenient market on the lowest level, too. I will add that the parking lot can seem very full if you don't get home till late at night, but there are usually at least a few spaces left at the back. There's a few reasons I won't give it five stars, but they are mostly personal. I'm used to living in a stand-alone house so I find this new experience to be overwhelming at times. But, if you're used to apartment life in a city, I'm sure you expect to live in close proximity to a lot of people.
Dominion Towers is a really nice place to live. Recently renovated apartments with great location, right out 395. The place is nice, however the people that lives there is dirty. They destroy every upgrade that management installs. And the management doesnt do a thing to prevent this. No cameras or penalties for residents that mess with the community amenities. Other than that everything is very good. Include maintenance!
When it comes to the apartment itself, it is beautiful. The kitchen is newly renovated, with an open floor plan. The kitchen has great beautiful cabinets and it speaks with the current modern lifestyle. The lobby is great, modern, and very welcoming. However, there is no front desk person, so if you get locked out or if you need a package, you have to pay extra. The hallways are outdated and sometimes dark. The laundry rooms sometimes have functioning W/Ds, but sometimes they don't. With only 2 washers and 2 dryers for each floor (there are 8 floors), there is definitely a shortage, and something that the management needs to address.
