Also referred to as Rolando Village, Rolando lies in the Mid-City region, about a 20-minute drive from Downtown San Diego. The neighborhood is located just three miles south of San Diego State University, so it's a great option for renters looking to be close to campus. Except for El Cajon Boulevard, Rolando remains largely residential. Rolando's curving streets are famous for their nostalgic, bungalow-style homes and charming, rolling hills. Rentals here are mid-range to upscale. El Cajon Boulevard is filled with restaurants, sports bars, and shops, so residents have access to plenty of amenities close to home.

Property Ratings at Dorado Plaza
They allow people to smoke weed in the apartments and it’s terrible

Please give us a call if you believe your neighbors are breaking community policies so we can provide assistance if necessary.
I loved this place! I rented here for a year and due to Covid, I had to leave SD. Otherwise I would still be living here. I got my full deposit back but I also took good care of my apartment and did my best to return it the way it was given to me. I never saw any bugs or roaches in my apartment. Trust me, the neighbors would have heard me scream bloody murder if I did. Luckily I never had to deal with any issues like mold or termites. I remember halfway through my lease their was a termite inspection and everything was good. This was my first experience living on my own and I honestly couldn't have chosen a better apartment complex to stay at. Maintenance and the office staff were always polite to me and helped me whenever I needed. Sometimes they get busy, but they always do their best to get to you in a timely manner. Thank you everyone at Dorado Plaza for making this a pleasant stay!

Thank you for the great review! Dorado Plaza's staff works very hard to make your home here pleasant and relaxing. Good luck and enjoy your day!
Renters Beware, Do not give these people your money!! I lived here for two years when I was going to SDSU and it was horrible. The walls are very thin and forget having a good night sleep because it felt like living near the freeway with loud cars. You will also not even get half of your deposit back. We were not charged for the water for three months due to their outsourcing for water in Florida and the billing being off by 3 months? and they just took it out of our deposit without notice. When I complained the lack of disclosure they pointed out a general statement in the lease and would hang up on me when I questioned why they never disclosed the 3 month billing delay or their proof of water outsourcing. The apartments may look decent on the outside and convenient, but not worth it !
management is very unprofessional and rude. Maintenance issue constantly. Do not rely on having running water that is cold and hit because the piping is on the roof and not insulated, so you don't get hot and cold water. There are bugs, spiders, roaches etc. People steal from your open patios, vandalize your cars and there is no security patrol. The laundry rooms are crammed and tight. No space to do your laundry.
Quiet area, nice neighbors.. Down the street from a dog park. Parking is kind of hard at certain times, but that's most of area. Shopping center is one block away to make up for the parking..
Let me just start off by saying this place is cheaply done for the price that I’m having to pay. When I first moved in, not a week went by and I was already having plumbing issues and a couple things were broken like the sink handle and the shower door. When we asked if we could have someone check it out, they didn’t seem to really care about our situation. Same goes with the noise!!! The walls are paper thin, you’re able to hear everything! Whether it be arguing, people having sex, babies crying, etc. I made a complaint and nothing was done about it. Also, the ongoing construction is ridiculous. I understand you guys are trying to make this a better looking place but being woken up 7am just to hear drilling being done & other things is annoying. & for some reason they’re raising the rent up that’s why I’m planning to move out of here as soon as possible. Don’t waste your money on these apartments!

First of all Im sorry to hear that you are so unhappy with your apartment and your community that you live in. As far as maintenance issues please feel free to contact the office so that we can address any issues you might have. The noise that you complain of, there is a after hours number that you are more than welcome to use. The construction noise however we can not control as the community finishes up this process this will shortly be over soon. We are doing improvements so that you do have a nice place to call home. Im again sorry that you are not happy and do hope that if you choose to move that you find a place that you will enjoy...
They require a $100 "refundable" holding deposit to run the application, but if you end up not completing the lease, they don't return your deposit! It's been 4 months and we've reached out multiple times, no return call or email. If they're willing to steal from you before you even move in, how much do you actually think they care about their residents?

Good afternoon, I see that you are having an issue with a deposit. If you could please give us a call I would like to see what is going on and how we can resolve this. Our office is open 7 days a week 9 am to 6 pm everyday but Sunday. Our hours on Sunday are 10 am to 5 pm. Sincerely, Community Manager
Seriously one of THE WORST apartments we have ever lived in ! DO NOT! I REPEAT DO NOT LET THE LOOKS FOOL YOU! If I could give this a negative star review I would ! Since the day we moved in nothing but problems.. Our sink and toilet get clogged all the time since the day we moved in. Plumbing is a big issue here. And let's not get started with the noise.. Neighbors are so noisy and management won't do anything. They always promise things but they're all talk just like everyone else says. Parking is ridiculous you'll never find parking especially since there's been nothing but construction that they said they would be done with months ago. So if you like being woken up everyday at 7am with people knocking down walls banging on your Windows and people around you blasting music then this is the place for you ! And let's not forget about the roaches! No matter how clean of a person you are they still come out even after spraying. We've talked to so many people around here and they think the same about this garbage complex. Listen to the reviews people. The rent is so expensive and you still have to pay utilities $50-$70. So I have to pay extra money for water that i don't even use I wasn't even paying that much when I was living with 5 people. Me and my neighbors cant wait for our lease to be over ! So stay away from this place. There's so many nicer and better apartments for the price that you'll pay here for this garbage place.

I love living at Dorado Plaza! I've lived several places in the college area, and this is by far the best. Restaurants, bars, grocery and convenience stores all within walking distance. Office and maintenance staff are always courteous and respond promptly to complaints and maintenance issues. The best part is, for every friend I refer I receive $100! I have several friends planning to rent upcoming remodeled apartments!
