Property Ratings at Douglaston Villas & Townhomes
We lived here for 2 years, and while our neighbors were nice, the maintenance issues were so bad, we terminated our lease due to constant maintenance issues not being adequately addressed. We were far from the only ones to do so.
Rent is wayy too high here for the conditions. Upon moving in I already noticed several things were broken or unclean. Door hinges were damaged, sinks were clogged or drippy, floor tiles were broken. Only a few months into living here my AC began to leak and here we are 4 months later it still hasn't been repaired. My friends who live here have issues such as paying for valet trash that doesn't get picked up, people stealing laundry, and staff ignoring calls. Also a couple months into my year here the sewage backed up for my whole street and they decided to fix it 3 days later at 10pm. Pest control doesn't work either, as this place has a disturbing amount of ants and beetles. Not ideal at all for the price. I would avoid this property.
Been here since October 2020. All the staff is wonderful except for one or two. Here are issues. Rent is much higher than stated because you are paying for pest control (must request weekly) and parking space and trash and water. Expect close to 200 extra. Fitness center is small but passable except the treadmills have never worked. All facilities were shut down for two months over the holidays. We won't be staying as the water quality is quite bad here. Use bottled and filters but nothing you can do about washer and dishwasher and showering. Overall I like the apartment and the residents. It's quiet and alot in walking distance including softball field with trails and starbucks. Maintenance staff and Malinda in office are wonderful.
Had an appointment for Saturday at 12pm came in 1204 called and no one answered, called twice and got transferred to an of site office they told me that they do have someone there and would have to keep calling. At 1220 I finally have someone on site answer and they just tell me “ sorry there is an emergency and I can help you right now” and proceed to hang up. All interest I had for this complex is gone.
I've been here a month and I'm not pleased. The office staff treats you so nice until you've signed the lease. From insects to appliances not working and now staff not answering phones nor emails. Please DON'T FALL VICTIM.
Very disappointed in this place...upon moving out they said they charged me $95.00 for a cleaning fee...I left it cleaner then when i moved in. Here are very recent pictures of the place...now judge for yourself after looking at their pictures and the real ones, Do not rent here...you will be sorry. The workout room equipment , well half of it never worked in the year I was there. Maintenance tries their best, but when the front office people take 3 hour lunches and do not answer the phones, well that kind of attitude rubs off on the rest of the employees. go ahead don't take my word for it...just try calling them. their favorite saying when you go to complain about something like your AC they say well mine is not working and I'm not complaining. swear to god, it happened to me and 2 months later it happened to someone else and that's what the same employee said to them. Oh and you have to pay to park at your own apartment, you have to pay for garbage pick up, parking is a joke, cars don't run and have expired plates and office does nothing about it. some cars sitting over 4 months same spot. check out these pic, tell me if you would rent from here... just saying..think twice my friend
Let me start by saying, DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE! To say that I’ve had a ridiculous amount of issues with Douglaston Villas would be an understatement. Renting from them has been like watching one epic fail to the next. I rented the same apartment for a little less than 5 years. The first few years, I had no issues and was very happy living here. However, since this new management company has taken over, customer service, maintenance requests, simple questions are a mind-blowing feat to get accomplished. My first major issue started when a new neighbor moved in two doors down - with at least 6 birds - that he kept outside ALL DAY AND NIGHT. The birds chirping were so loud that I couldn’t even read in my living room without being annoyed with all the noise. I was used to peace and quiet - now I felt like I was living in a jungle with all the constant bird noise. I tried to speak to the Property Manager, Scot. He was so rude and so condescending to me and told me there was nothing I could do and residents could do whatever they wanted to on their patio. Scot did nothing to assist my situation and pretty much mocked me. I was horrified with how I was treated, especially since I had been living in the apartment for years, had never once had an issue, and never made a late payment. I was lied to and told I was the only one with an issue and found out this was not true after speaking to other neighbors. Another time, their website was being redone and the resident portal was down for over two months - meaning you had to pay in person and couldn’t pay electronically. I needed to speak to the office but couldn’t make it over due to working so I needed to call - I called at least twenty times (being that it was an important issue) and no one ever picked up, or called back after I left one voicemail. When I spoke to their corporate office, I was told only the onsite office could help me. I have never had issues anywhere I have lived but the complete lack of respect I have been shown while living here has been frustrating and very upsetting. I highly recommend you do not choose to move here and look elsewhere. This is not how an apartment complex should operate. I have many more examples of how the office staff is completely inadequate in fulfilling their job but I can only write so much in this review. Moral of the story: Run far away from this place!!! It is no longer the nice, safe place to live that it once was.
Management did not ensure that adequate housing was made timely with even reasonable effort. Too many ongoing issues with no one willing to take responsibility. A roach infestation, a host of move in repairs needed. Currently AC not working, NO hot water. They continue to look the other way with no one taking the lead to remedy or make amends for their extremely poor handling. Go elsewhere. Investing in this place is a waste. Kimberly Wells (current tenant)
Lived here for a year. The area is very quiet and villas are well kept. Nice people in the neighbourhood. Very close to i4. Maintenance and office staff are very good and very helpful.I would recommend this place to anyone.
Even the staff is awesome and the place is so safe and relax, the subcontractors for landscaping and exterior maintenance are really bad or doesn't exist. Giving to the community a bad aspect. There is a bad irrigation system and if you want your place to look clean and nice you need to clean the leaves that falls from trees by yourself. All the neighborhood should gather a petition to the community owner to not be charge high prices if there is no landscaping service with quality or they should start to make some changes on it immediately.
Quiet neighborhood even though it's close to the mall and quick to get on I4. Great schools as well. I've never waited more than a day for a response to a maintenance request. Some of the office management seems to care for residents while others can't be bothered. So strange that the office is closed on Sundays as well, but maybe that's everywhere? Just not any place I've lived before. The actual layout of the apartment is really nice and each unit has it's own storage which is fantastic.
The first day we moved in we felt right at home. The front door entrance brings you into the living room with a huge brick fireplace. The dining room has a bar with a sink!!! And the kitchen is a dream to cook in with lots of cabinet space. We adore our patio where you can listen to birds and enjoy the Florida sunshine or rain. My bedroom is like a movie star's with a huge vanity mirror and sink. A glorious walk in closet. The storage unit is big enough to live in, it even has a light.
I have lived at Douglaston Villas & Townhouses for 7 years. The office staff is a cut above, and even after the apartments changed hands, the maintenance staff stayed on. I never had a problem that they didn't handle with great courtesy. And they left my apartment the way they found it - clean! I would recommend these apartments to anyone.
