Blacow is a suburban neighborhood about three miles south of Downtown Fremont. Blacow is family-friendly with several good schools, childcare centers, and parks. Along with large neighborhood parks, Blacow residents have access to amazing green spaces as well, including the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge and the Coyote Creek Lagoon Trail. This beautiful neighborhood is quiet and has mid-range to upscale single-family homes and apartments available for rent. Although residents certainly enjoy proximity to Downtown Fremont’s excellent shopping, dining, and cultural scenes, Blacow is convenient to several large commercial centers like NewPark Mall and Pacific Commons Shopping Center, which provides suburban staples including a movie theater, department stores, and chain restaurants. The south side of the neighborhood borders Interstate 880 allowing for easier commutes throughout the Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

Apartment is very neat and clean. Balcony view is very pleasant. Everything’s is working good in apartment like dishwasher, taps, etc. Apartments are here is very nyc. I recommend to everyone.
Lived here for more than a year, Mostly a good community with polite residents. Laundry machines are faulty and my electric bike was stolen from where it was locked up 3 feet from my front door, otherwise, fine. About a year after I moved in they offered to renew my lease for an extra 700$ a month, or let me switch to a monthly lease for an extra 900$. Can't recommed moving in unless you plan to leave as soon as your lease ends.
No Transparency on the availability of the apartment. They push something we don't like or something in the 2nd floor or 3rd floor even the ground floor apartment is available.
The leasing office staff are very arrogant and there are a lot of car break ins and thefts even though it is a gated community. Not a safe community to live in, my car parking is right opposite to leasing office where there are surveillance cameras but still someone from outside easily managed to break in into my car. I reported to the cops about the car theft and went to the leasing office to talk with them about the incident as they are open at 9am after 30 minutes of wait a lady came around 9:30 am they never are punctual and when I spoke with her she said there is nothing they can do and when I questioned them about the outgate which was left wide open as it was not working since 2 weeks giving access to outside people to easily get in and out she said said outsider would enter either way but I was not happy with that answer so I asked her when they were going to fix the gate she did not have an answer for it and just closed the leasing office door on my face and left without even answering me. Later I wrote an email to the manager and I never heard back from her as and if you want to meet the manager you can’t because she is never around. I strongly believe the break in just happened because of the management negligence as they left the gates open since 2 weeks without fixing them giving access to outside people to get in and out of the community at any time of the day.
1) There are many theft incidents. Every week a car is vandalized. My car glasses were broken and management was careless and no further action to avoid such future incidents. Many hideous areas without proper lighting and cameras. Frequent anonymous activities sighted on premise. 2) They rip off your security deposit, how much ever good you leave your apartment clean. No consideration of basic wear and tear even if you lived for many years. Take proof before and after moving if you plan to live here, which i don't recommend. Manager will ask you to take legal avenue if you question charges. 3) High rent for such small apartment with outdated layout and appliances. You will get frequent maintenance issues. No individual water/sewer meters, so expect high utility charges.
Stay away from the rude management community. Got theft and apartment didn't care even through send report. Only told to call 911 and apartment didn't even record the theft report.
When different people post similar reviews about how rude the management is to residents, it becomes very convincing. Please read other one star review to hear the rest of what I want to say. Read the 4+ star reviews to hear what the management wants to say. Don't come, you will regret.
We have been facing problem due to thefts and robberies and obviously this makes the place unsafe. Management is very very very rude.
This place is full of stress. The stress is caused either by the management staff or the neighbors. It is very common to receive threatening emails by the staff regarding the complex. The other problem is the neighbor's kids. There are a tone of kids in the complex and they play crazy all around. Sometimes the kids become playful and would harm the cars (when bike riding), knock and run, screaming,... Roach is the other problem. It is hard to get rid of them too.
I wish I could give them Zero stars. I lived 2 years at Durham Greens and after that I finally decided to move out. I am glad i took that decision. Initially at the time of lease they will show courteous behavior but once you sign the lease they will treat you like Slaves. Office staff acts like your Mom. They will find every opportunity to be-little you. Their letters will disturb you for one of other reason and will make sure a miserable living experience at this community. As others mentioned Buildings were infested with roaches and ants. Their pest treatment caused a lot of trouble during our entire stay at DGA. Its unforgettable experience. I am so glad I finally moved out of this apartment.
I lived in Durham Greens Apartments for over 3 years. Almost every building in this community is infested by Roaches or Ants. for eg: building "D" , "I" and "E" are infested with Roaches. Roaches breed like anything. Similarly building "G" is infested with Ants. Buildings facing the main park are shelter for rats. And there is High Voltage PG&E power lines which is a big risk for kids. I was living in Building D and it was horrible experience living in this community. Every Morning I saw roaches all over my kitchen and bathroom. eventually these roaches spread out to my bedrooms and closet - they were biting me at night and some instances I get up at 3 AM at night. We reported the roach issue to Leasing office and they seems to be familiar with this issue. For next 1 year we experienced a constant drill. Every Thursday a Pesticide guy sprayed entire Kitchen and Bathroom cabinets and shelves which means Every Wednesday night we had to take off all utensils and boxes from Kitchen/Bathroom shelves and then after couple of hours of spray , we placed back all utensils/boxes, etc. This drill was experienced by all existing residences of Building D. Many time I complained leasing office about in-effectiveness of Spray but they don't just believe it. Eventually some residents of building D moved to other buildings and some vacated their apartment complex. These houses are old and hence wood is damp which makes a perfect environment for roach infestation. Leasing office staff is very rude - they make you realize that you are tenant and they are owner of this community so they can enter your apartment and Peek through it whenever they like. you will always receive a very cold response from leasing office. So stay away from this apartment complex if you want a peaceful life. I have stayed in many other apartment complex'es and we never had such issues in those apartments. Some good things about this apartment complex: 1) they have kids play area ,basketball, volley ball and tennis court. 2) there is plenty of guest parking available. But you need to get a Parking permit a night before their stay otherwise car will be towed away by leasing staff. 3) Close to I-880,I-680
The biggest problem is the location of apartments. They are location next to high voltage lines. There are lots of research that show the chance of cancer increase with proximity to power lines. Maybe that is the reason these apartments are so cheap.
Overall it is a nice environment. The staff is friendly for the most part as well. There are a lot of unfriendly residents though. My husband is a young Hispanic man, and some residents here look at him like they are scared. They are mostly older, non Hispanic people. We are not allowed to have welcome mats outside of our door because we are "technically not renting that space". I find that a bit ridiculous, but we complied and took our mat away because they said they would throw out anything that was left out there. A lot of other people still have theirs out though, so I'm disappointed that we could have kept ours out as well. The apartments are pretty small, but it is the typical size for this area and a typical price for this area as well. I like that they are gated off so random people can't just hang out.
Apartments looks just like the pictures so no surprises. Staff is friendly. Very affordable. Great location: close to 680 and 880 with lots of shopping within a couple miles (Target, Walmart, Fry's, Nordstrom Rack, DSW, Old Navy, etc.), Pacific Commons Century movie theaters are a couple miles away, gas stations down the street, and lots of options to eat (PF Changs, In'n'Out, Claim Jumpers, Vietnamese food, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Panera Bread, etc.). Overall, good place to live-- no complaints!
Good place to live and with a good community and kept clean by its maintenance team. Could use more variety of equipment in the fitness center. Overall, I would recommend living here!
