Nestled alongside the Raritan River in north-central New Jersey, Edison is a tranquil suburb with a rich history. The township was the site of Thomas Edison’s famous invention factory, where the incandescent light bulb was perfected and sound was first recorded. Aside from the township’s name, Edison honors the renowned inventor with landmarks like Thomas A. Edison Park and Edison State Park, which contains the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park.
In addition to its historic charm, Edison offers residents top-notch schools, vibrant shopping centers, and lush parks in a central locale. Although residents enjoy Edison’s quaint atmosphere, major cities like New York City and Philadelphia are both within an hour’s drive of the community, placing residents within close reach of countless metropolitan amenities. Commuting and traveling from Edison is simple with convenience to Interstates 95 and 287 as well as Newark Liberty International Airport.

Property Ratings at Durham Woods
Avoid this place like a plague. I signed lease 3 months ago. I called the office prior to the moving date to confirm everything is in order but when i came to pick up keys, they didn't have keys or apartment ready. I had to find other option to stay overnight with my new born son. Staff is extremely rude and didn't help us at all. SERIOUSLY DO NOT MOVE HERE. STAFF IS RUDE AND CONDENSENDING
While residing here my car has been broken into TWICE while being here! They take no accountability for any of that! Despite the claims that they have “security” they have no cameras anywhere besides the ones at the front gate which I don’t even know if they work! They also supposedly have a “security” guard at the entrance which I’ve only ever seen twice since living here. And despite all that they want a 5% rent raise every year! Also these kids that reside here all play in the parking lot area, the streets, everywhere despite their being a “strict” no play rule amongst these places. You will get your car scratched and personal belongings touched. Also the maintenance team throws paint on everything and calls it fixed. My ceiling has had wet marks on it everytime it rains and instead of fixing the roof they PAINTED OVER IT and called it a day. If you want peace where you live this is NOT the place to be at.
Poor management very unorganized complex/management
I have been calling this office since Monday (twice a day) as well as send emails. No one called me back or even responded. Thursday early afternoon, I decided to call again and to my surprise someone answered. I began to talk and the gentleman who answered the phone interrupted me and said “We don’t have any units available.” And HUNG UP THE PHONE! Are you serious?!? I waited for a callback just for you to hang up and me and not hear me out?!?! If he would’ve heard me out, I would’ve told him that I’m not in a rush to move and was simply calling to find out the availability of the unit I was interested in! That was a horrible experience!
From day 1 this place was the worst experience ever. Their staff is rude and has no regard for anyone's time. Strike 1-They made mistakes on lease paperwork and inconvenienced me as a result. Strike 2- The apartment was poorly remediated for turnover. There were water stains on the ceilings, filth in the kitchen and a lingering smell from god knows what. Strike 3- Could never get proper maintenance. Untimely and no concern for tenant happiness. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND LOOK ELSEWHERE.
We moved to renovated apt but so many issues, sink not chged , no fan in main bathroom, no finishing on walls just painted and mainly no moldings in main area of the apt.It has been a month , v went to leasing office but no response. They show model house but reality is diff.
Very nearly maintained. Had been with Durham Woods for more than one year and recently renewed the lease as well. Maintenance is quick and excellent. All the maintenance guys are friendly and experienced. Roads very greatly maintained during icy times. Very much recommended for people considering to get into Durham Woods.

We appreciate your positive review about your recent experience with us!
I'm warning you....stay away! You will not enjoy living here, the property and rooms are dirty and outdated. It was built like 40 years ago, and I wouldn't be surprised if they still have original appliances. The staff are all rude, and don't care about the tenants, it's all about the money. Don't let their websites fool you, they advertise good prices but you will pay a few hundred more than what is advertised. The laundry rooms are garbage, I'd rather go to an off site laundromat than suffer in that dump. The walls are yellow and old, might even be hazardous to your health, probably not safe for young children. Trust me, you can do much better in that area. If you see a 5 star review, it was written by the staff or management.

Dear Anonymous, thank you for taking the time to share thoughts. Although Durham Woods is not a brand-new construction project, we are continually renovating and updating apartments as residents vacate. We advertise all our floor-plans and rent ranges that we offer. Prospects choose which floor-plan they are interested in renting, sign a lease prior to moving in which states the rent of the chosen floor-plan. We will be happy to speak to you directly but have no way of contacting you without a name. Please feel free to call the leasing office at 866-440-9614. Sincerely, Durham Woods Management
I have lived in Durham Woods for a few months now and I like the community in general. On the other hand, while the complex is spending so much money manicuring the roads and the grass, basically what visitors see at first, they have many dirty little secrets. One of them is the laundry rooms. The laundry room not only are disgusting because some of the residents don't clean after themselves but also the staff does not clean them for months at a time! The machines are outdated and break all the time and leave pools of soapy water in the middle of the room every now and then. The water stays there and no one cleans it. The floors are dirty all the time and even the machine interiors are filthy! I have send them a comment about it but nothing has been done, no one even got back to me on that. (Oh and by the way, when you raise a concern, no one gets back to you in a timely manner or at all ). So now, I go to public laundromats outside the complex, which are 100% cleaner. I give it a 3 star rate because of the location and the quietness... and the manicured grass...
Friendly environment and well maintained community. Lot of open space to roam around and reserved parking lot . Immediate maintenance assist available on request .

Thank you for the 5 star review! We are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at Durham Woods!
I feel Durham Woods is a perfect combination of location, amenities and tranquility. Location because two train stations on Northeast Corridor are with in driving distance (2 - 3 miles). It makes it lot easier to commute to NY. Amenities - because compared to most of the apartments in the area, it has upgraded and updated appliances (Centralized Heat & AC for example). Tranquility - because it is surrounded by lush green trees and beautifully landscaped lawns makes your evenings that much more enjoyable. Grocery stores (Walmart, Costco) , Pharmacies (Walgreens), Restaurants and Shopping (Kohl's, Target, Hardley Center in Piscataway) are all close by and in driving distance. I stayed in a two bed renovated for 9 months at Durham Woods and not even once I had to turn at leasing office with complaints. All service requests were addressed promptly. Service staff was so helpful during winters when my car got stuck in snow. There was only one issue we had with noise from upstairs. Even that was resolved after a phone call (we could see the difference.) Finally, if you are looking to stay in Edison, I feel Durham Woods would be the right choice.

Thank you for such a wonderful review. Your recommendation means so much to us and we're so happy to have earned it. Thank you again for taking the time to let the world know about your positive experience.!
Ran away from there, you can find better place than this complex (we did!). All they care about is money and not ppl who live there. We moved there 1 year ago and it was a disaster since day 1! Appliances were old, and started to brake in a couple of days, sink started to leak, then the same thing happened to a toilet, and after that the ceiling began leaking and ruined our furniture( and it happened again and again during the whole time we lived there) Don't get me started on those windows that I think never been changed since this complex was built! Maintenance workers is a special case, they are rude and I'm not sure they know what they are doing, coz they couldn't fix leaking from the ceiling during this year we lived there! Laundry rooms are nasty and disgusting, plus out of 8 washers and dryers only 3 or 4 usually work! I never write reviews but in this case I had to let ppl know what they are getting themselves into!
Live the simple life in a spacious apartment surrounded by woods to give you a taste of country life. The grounds are always beautifully manicured as you enter Reading Road to home sweet home. Spacious apartment living space surrounded by nature. So very Peaceful and a joy to come home to after the hustle and bustle of your work day. The office and maintenance staff are always accommodating to meet your every need. I highly recommend you to stop by. I know you won't be disappointed.
