Property Ratings at East Village
Finally, a management team that is truly concerned with the quality of life, safety and comfort of all residents I’ve lived here for nearly 3 years and I’ve never been more impressed with management. Toobay,Mary Ann and Lavell are a force to be reckoned with! They are responsive and genuinely concerned about all issues a resident might face. I wholeheartedly recommend anyone looking to live downtown to seriously consider East Village . It’s affordable and the management and amenities make it a very nice place to call home!
Property Manager at East Village, Responded To This Review
Thank you for sharing your experience! We are so happy to hear how you are enjoying your home at East Village Apartments. We are happy to have residents like you!
If you’re looking for a place to call home, do not rent here. The place is filled with BUGS, they constantly ask you to pack up your entire apartment to have pest control spray. Right before I moved out, they were checking apartments for RODENTS. They do not send emails to communicate with tenants, hoping that important information will be read via paper notes they put in front of all the doors. The common spaces are constantly filled with trash and aren’t maintained on the weekends. Fire alarms go off in the middle of the night frequently - they take hours to get it to stop. I had many other issues while living here but I’ll leave it at that.
I strongly advise against living here. The management staff are not responsive, give out incorrect information, and do not do what they say they will do. The building often smells and is not well maintained. There is also significant security concerns that management claims to be addressing, however, they have not followed through with many of their claims. We have experienced theft and have been negatively impacted by drug use by other residents in the building, issues that were not addressed by management. When we needed assistance and had questions about our residency, we were required to email management and would often need to physically go to the office to get a response to our concerns and answers to our questions. They are very difficult to work with. Other notable problems include the courtyard littered with trash and dog poop and unauthorized people gaining access to the building. There has been literal poop in the stairwells and people sleeping there overnight. The fire alarms are also bound to go off in the middle of the night. Do not live here.
Decent place to live. Pros: in unit washer dryer hookup is huge and works really well, stove, fridge and dishwasher are all great, very dog friendly with a nice park and dog run out back, good location. Cons: terrible plumbing, AC is a crappy wall mounted thing that's only in the bedroom and doesn't affect the rest of the apartment, sinks clog very easily, very bad security, very bad package management system, and understaffed management. The security is particularly bad. There are often people who 'piggy back' off of others to get into the building. As in they wait outside the door until someone comes by and unlocks it so they can slide in behind. I've seen people sleeping in the hallways and stairwells multiples times. Once I was even forced to call the cops because the dude had like 4 handles of vodka on him and refused to leave. It's super dark at night, they turn off all the lampposts, and they only have one lone security guard patrolling around. Very unsafe for downtown. There's also something very messed up with the plumbing in the bathrooms. My sink has been clogged 3 times in a year, my toilet doesn't flush or refill randomly, and the shower keeps getting backed up with disgusting dirty sewage water. It's gotten to the point where i don't feel comfortable showering at home, even with shower shoes.
Property Manager at East Village, Responded To This Review
We would like to reach out and see if we can address your reported grievances. Please feel free to contact the office about the AC unit. If upon reviewing we find that it isn't functioning as it should, we can at that time schedule for a replacement. Also reach out about the issues you are having in the bathroom, so that we can address and correct any issues. In the past we had some shortage in staff, and we appreciate your patience as we worked towards getting our vacant positions filled. I am happy to let you know that we have done just that. East Village hires a third party vendor that provides security. Unfortunately, without resident feedback we can only assume that they are fulling their responsibilities as we do not have anybody living on property. We also relay on residents to uphold their responsibility to follow East Village guideline in regards to entering and leaving the buildings. This is a lease violation and take these very seriously, as we care greatly concerned about the safety of our residents. I hope i have addressed your issues, and would love for you to reach out to the leasing office so that we can address any issue that might still persist. Thank you.
Welcoming staff that becomes a family to their residents. The building is well-kept and the fellow residents are friendly. Great for anyone looking for their first apartment or for starting or relocating their family.
The East Village Apartments are spacious, visually pleasing, comfortable and very affordable. The building and parking garage are very secure, utilizing a key fab entry system. The staff is very helpful and ready to solve problems. The proximity to downtown Minneapolis makes it a great choice for anyone that wants to experience big city living.
I am staying at East Village from last one year and it is a very good place for Living. I like the way they maintain the childran's park and the grass around the building. This apartment is very near to HCMC and Elliot Park. Places like Aldi, Target, CVS, Dollar Tree are very near to the apartment. Very good choice to stay with affordable rent. Thanks
