Property Ratings at Edison Austin
Staff pretends to be super sweet when they want to get you the apartment, but that is the only time they are nice to you. The minute you sign the lease, they change the personality. 1.There are about $400-$500 worth of extra charges that they add on top of the apartment lease. Some are mentioned in the lease some are not. You have to pay extra for parking even if you dont own any car. 2. Sometimes if the courier service brings the package to the leasing office instead of bringing to the apartment or building, they will take the package and hold it without informing anyone. When we contact them inquiry they simply deny receiving package and won't even try and help to locate the package. 3. They will enter the apartment when they please without informing you about it. You cannot change the locks because that is written in the lease. 4. AC will be off for weeks during summer months and you will be helpless. 5. There is no option the break the lease. 6. Security is a joke. There have been multiple apartment break-ins and multiple car break-ins. 7. AVOID THIS PLACE.
I lived here for years and unfortunately had the worst experience when the connor group took over in 2022. My unit was recently broken into by 4 strange men while I was out of town. It was completely ransacked; every nook & cranny was raided. My car was stolen as well. The leasing managers assumed this was my fault and refused to break my lease early & refused to notify the community as It would “instill panic”. The connor group offers no lease break policy and claimed that I should still remain on the contract since locks were not seemingly tampered with. Once video footage was found, this theory was proved incorrect. These men opened the bedroom window on my ground floor unit, climbed into the bedroom, stole $15k in personal property & even came back multiple times. The Connor Group did not compensate me in any way or form. Aside from that cherry on top, the connor group struggles to complete maintenance requests without being hounded & struggles to generally communicate with residents. I had to seek out an appointment with a property manager to speak about 9 months worth of issues- leaks, trash, broken glass, safety, etc. You pay $350/ month in fees for lack of safety or cleanliness. Staying on top of your needs at this complex is a full time job on top of your main job. I cannot express the agony they put me through this past year and am so grateful my lease was ending.
I have too much to say but I'll give you the big reasons: 1. The gates nor doors going INSIDE our complex have worked since I moved in (4 months ago) 2. My wife's car got broken into 3. My motorcycle got stolen 4. The halls are always filthy and smell like marijuana 5. The office staff only cares about getting your money - no sympathy at all. Wish I had more characters to use - don't waste your time applying or touring.
My motorcycle was stolen yesterday, our car got broken into last month. The gate has never worked, doors have never consistently worked more than a day at a time. Hallway either smells like weed or sewage depending on the day. Turn around, don’t drown.
I don't ever write reviews but after my experience I had no choice. Management was the worst I've ever dealt with. They will not return calls or emails but continue to raise their fees. Security is a huge issue, doors are constantly broken and my truck even got broken into. A new mice problem has occurred in the building but you can get ahold of management to fix it. For a 500sqft studio apartment, they fees are around $300. Don't rent here.
When I first moved in the place was decent and management was good, but now with the change of management there is nothing luxurious about this place. Maintenance is done through a separate app so you get no help at front desk if nothing gets fixed, also they only allow ONE person within the apartment to have the app, so i always have to ask my roommate for his phone to let me put in a request. The door knob to the entrance has been broken for MONTHS (literally missing an entire door knob), you hear police sirens literally every night, and the traffic to get to the apartment is terrible. Very crowded and surrounded by homeless people. Phones dont get answered and the hall ways smell terrible because everyone leaves their trash out because they locked the trash room. The trash has been an issue for MONTHS now with no fix. The luxor package room is always packed to the brim with no organization, takes years to find your package (if it didnt get stolen) and the management is just awful. I've been to my friends apartment and it is like night and day, so organized and up-kept, and it is way cheaper since it doesn't have the "luxury" tag on it. DO NOT MOVE TO THE EDISON APARTMENT, don't be fooled by the beautiful lobby area.
Not sure how the past review snuck in here, as I haven't experienced any of these issue. Either that or Miami is worse than Austin. That said, I orginally was going to move into another property when I caught a glimpse of the Edison. After being given a tour by Sara the Property Manager, I knew instantly this was going to be the place I'd move into. Between all of the ridiculously high apartment rates in Austin, this was truly bang for your buck. The Edison feels like a campus offering multiple scenery, especially working from home. Moving in was a breeze and I didn't have to fight the management company to squeeze me into a time slot, like I have in past communities. Sara made moving a pleasure and I would recommend anyone coming from a different area code to come check this place out.
I don't feel safe here. It's not just the homeless people who surround the property with numerous encampment sites in every direction. It's not just the murders and constant police activity taking place in the low income housing next door. It's not just the fact that the building is unlocked and completely accessible to potential criminals. Inside the apartment my stuff is not safe either. There is so much construction going on in this building and it still has so many problems (leaks, insect infestations) that contractors and strange men are letting themselves in and out of my unit because the front desk gave them a key. And one of those contractors caused enormous damage to one of my pieces of antique furniture. Also the gym sucks, there is little to no security, I've so far heard numerous reports of car break-ins, hooligans peeing in the pool because the bathroom is so far away, the smell of industrial chemicals still lingers heavily in the air, construction dust is everywhere. This is a terrible place to live.
