There’s no care or thought at this property. The amenities are dirty, the sense of community / events are nearly non-existent since every event is hosted mid-day when everyone is at work. The lobby is constantly in shambles and the front desk concierge sit and watch TV on their phones and ignore you when you need help. Just look around you walk in… the plastic shield between the lobby in the front desk is covered in filth. There’s paper signs scotch-taped up that are brown and needed to be replaced ages ago. They can’t even put their dog treats from the box from the store into something that looks somewhat presentable. Even looking past the details, while the apartments are nice, the way the front desk concierge and the management treat their people is enough of a reason to not renew my lease or even remotely recommend it to anyone wanting to live in a high-rise downtown.
Overall 805 is a decent building with friendly and helpful staff but there have been several major issues with the building itself that create cause for concern. On several occasions glass from the windows/balconies have shattered/fallen 10 stories onto the the street below, the rooftop pool (while a great amenity) started leaking one night and flooded water down on the entire building causing the elevators to be down for an extended period of time and required significant work in many of the apartments. There have also been heating issues on the 4th floor that have led to a closure of the dog run at times when a dog owner would want it to be available most. On your average day it is a great building to be in but there seem to be major issues that shouldn't happen in such a new building and make you question what will happen next.
The property management team at Eight O Five is one of the best I have ever encountered, working always in a professional and friendly manner. I worked with Theresa and she tackled any issues that came up without any delay. The maintenance crew and concierge at this property is also wonderful. The amenities are well kept and very, very nice. This is by far the best rooftop in all of Chicago!
You pretty much can't beat living in a new building. The 1 bedrooms have floor to ceiling windows and if you are higher than the 14th floor - the views are incredible. There is a large patio on each 1 bedroom unit that can fit plenty of furniture (a glass wall on the side is cool but almost scary if you're on a higher floor). The bedroom is large and has a huge closet. The only way it could be better is if they installed more high tech appliances - they are pretty standard. The location also can't be beat - you're next to two different types of trains and plenty of bus lines and walkable to different neighborhoods with bars, restaurants, shopping, etc. The rooftop views are also amazing - but as people move in, the roof gets a little crowded and the pool is on the small side. There is a gym that has new equipment and plenty of hang out/work space. The street is a little loud but since the building is new - you don't have to worry about hearing neighbors. Overall this is an awesome building and well worth the price.
I just moved in a week ago but already love my place. The views are fantastic, floor to ceiling windows, huge balcony, w/d, just all around beautiful. The only downside is the price - renting in Chicago is SO expensive!
