About Eighth and Penn
Connecting History, Culture and Modern Living Eighth & Penn consists of the restoration of two existing historic buildings at 711 and 713 Penn Ave – both previously owned by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. The McNally Building (711 Penn Ave) and the Bonn Building (713 Penn Ave) have been fixtures of downtown Pittsburgh since the 1890s and are turn-of-the-century, masonry buildings, rich with historic character. The facades and storefronts of these buildings have been restored, with the interiors renovated to provide space for rental apartment units & other amenities. The addition forms a continuation of the Penn Ave streetscape, incorporating the existing parking lot at the corner of 8th & Penn with new construction that is modern, but sympathetic to the historic buildings.
Eighth and Penn is an apartment community located in Allegheny County and the 15222 ZIP Code. This area is served by the Pittsburgh Public Schools attendance zone.

National publications constantly place Pittsburgh near the top of the list for most livable cities in America, and it’s easy to see why. The city has a rich history as an industrial and economic hub, which led to the construction of many grand buildings and public sculptures which still stand today. Downtown in particular is rich with beautifully preserved buildings and lush public parks dating back well over a century, giving the entire community a timeless atmosphere.
Pittsburgh is split into three sections by the rivers passing through the city: Downtown (a.k.a. “The Golden Triangle), the North Side, and the South Side. Each has its fair share of attractions and landmarks: the North Side is home to Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park (making it a perfect area for sports fans), the South Side features big, beautiful greenways and refurbished steel mills, and Downtown is where you’ll find the most variety in dining, nightlife, and entertainment.

Property Ratings at Eighth and Penn
I currently live in the building. The parking lot next to the building is used repeatedly as a concert venue (even during the week both before and after business hours). As I type this review, in fact, there is a heavy metal rock band playing with loud speakers vibrating my floor. I asked building management for a discount on my rent while these concerts happen (they gave us no notice before renting that there would be concerts next door), and he denied it. He did offer I use the business room in the building, but it is infeasible for everyone in the building to do so. And besides, that does not change the fact that the rooms are unusable for any sort of quiet enjoyment when these concerts happen. Do not live here if you are a professional or student who needs quiet to work. There are plenty of buildings blocks away that do not face the same nuisance. The price of the building does not reflect this issue, so when you compare prices to other buildings nearby take this into account. The sad thing is, I love everything else about the building. If the building had been reasonable with me on this concert issue, I would have nothing but glowing things to say.

I love this apartment. I picked this apartment due to its proximity to my job. Management is very friendly and says hello to me every day when I come home for lunch. The gym has all new equipment and is clean. There is a club room where my friends and I hang out with a TV and complimentary coffee/hot drinks. The outdoor balcony is also a nice place to hang out with great views. Security is very friendly. The night guard will sometimes bring packages up to my apartment when he knows I am expecting something. When I am busy, I get my groceries delivered, so sometimes he will help bring my groceries up. He is also always very nice to my guests. The location is in great area. I can walk to work, Happy Hour, 7Eleven, PNC Park, The Point...etc. Further, the building hosts great social events where I have met and become friends with my neighbors, which was nice when I had just moved to Pittsburgh. I can't say enough great things about this apartment building. Living here has been good, but the staff make it great!
