My dad has finally found the right place for him...a place he can call home! We’ve had quite a time finding him a place that fits all his needs and requests. Rachel made it happen! She was extremely knowledgeable, kind and helpful...wish there were more leasing agents like her. We will definitely recommend your place to family and friends.
LOST DEPOSITS AND ILLEGAL BREAK OF LEASE. I paid deposits, was on a two month wait list, and signed a lease for an apartment here. I was 7 months pregnant and excited to move in on a Saturday. A few days before move in I called the apartment complex to ask a question. I was told my apartment was no longer available and they "tried to reach me" asking if my phone number was "555-5551" clearly it's not. They said the best they could do was give me the deposits back IF they found receipts for it.... They had a copy of my signed lease, with my correct phone number. For several days they told me there was nothing they could do for me. I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAPPENED TO. DO NOT TRUST THEM.
It can be hard at times to embrace change, but in some cases change is good. This property is under new management, and they are definitely improving the looks of the community. From beautiful landscaping to adding grills and hammocks to the pool area. And not to mention an agility dog park coming soon, I can't wait! Rachel and Gabby in the front office are a pleasure to deal with, and I am literally in the office with my dog on a daily basis talking with these ladies. Not to mention now the phones are being answered, that was a pain point previously because no one would answer the phones. I'm so glad they kept the original maintenance team they go above and beyond, to make sure the residents are happy (especially Jose and Rodrigo!). Also a very nice change is being able to pay and submit service requests online. Good things are happening around here, and I can't wait to see the final result.
Veranda Homes has been our home for over 7 years. The complex is located near beautiful historic down town Mount Dora, and very close to TWO Publix stores. No more than 45 minutes from the Sanford, Altamonte or Leesburg Mall. It is a wonderful location, that has afforded a lot of ease for living in the area. The club house is beautiful with a pool and grill for parties, there is a laundromat style area for those without washer and driers, as well as a gym. It has always felt like a safe area to live in and is well lit. Staff is hit or miss though. Sometimes extra accommodating and helpful, creating community events so you can get to know your neighbors, offering bagged breakfast to early morning workers on their way out. Sometimes they're rude and unprofessional, opening the front office late, or being snappy about responses. With the apartment complex does come one big unsightly problem, the trash compactor never seems to be working and for the entire complex there is only one. So the trash seems to pile in front of the compactor until it gets fixed. But staff does well to keep people from storing rotting, or non working vehicles on property. Speaking for the 2 bed, 2 bath apartments. They are spacious and wonderful for a couple with one child or two room mates. The ensuite master bath features a nice garden tub and walk in closet. The second bedroom also has a walk-in closet and quick access to the "guest bath". The kitchens are built in the galley style, which is frustrating for someone who loves to cook due to the limited counter space, standard refrigerator and dishwasher are also in the kitchen. Washer and dryers hook ups are at the end of the kitchen in the storage closet. Each bedroom and living room has a ceiling fan and 9 foot ceilings with crown molding, a sliding glass door to the small balcony and external storage closet outside. There is carpet through out the bedrooms and living room, tile in the entrance way, bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry area. Rent has stayed high(over 800$) and sometimes it doesn't feel like you're getting your money's worth. Other times, I've realized how safe I am in my apartment and the neighborhood around me.
While there are worse apartments in the area, Veranda Way still isn't that shining star you'd hoped it be when you first moved in. Although management is nice, always offering cookies and cans of sodas when you take a meaningful trip down to their office, they could use a talking to about cleaning up the complex. If you move here, you will have spiders. You probably will never see a roach, but that's because of all the spiders. The apartments are a bit small for the price, and parking is always a nightmare when you get home after 8 or 9pm. The only area where parking doesn't seem to be an issue is the very front. And despite the garish balconies, there are no spectacular views to speak of. The saving grace of the complex is the roman tubs, which provide ample room for you, and if you're up to it, your significant other. Point blank, if you don't mind hearing people's conversations outside or don't mind parking a good distance from your front door, you might enjoy living here. If those things are important to you, Veranda may not be the best decision you've ever made.
The staff is very pleasant and helpful. If anything breaks or goes wrong maintenance is quick to repair it. The property is clean and nice. It has been newly pained. It is also very quiet. It's a great place to live!
