At the heart of Missouri, Columbia is truly one of America’s greatest college towns. The University of Missouri sits right at the center of the city, and generally serves as the cultural hub for the wider community. Locals, whether connected directly to the university or not, regularly visit campus for sporting events, concerts, gallery exhibitions, lectures, and more. Just north of campus, Downtown Columbia features a thriving mix of coffee shops, restaurants, nightclubs, taverns, and performance venues, largely catering to the huge numbers of students from Mizzou, as well as the smaller Stephens College and Columbia College.
Of course, the community extends well beyond the collegiate environment at the city center. The University of Missouri Health Care system is the second-biggest employer in town, so the community of healthcare professionals in town is quite extensive. The cost of living is quite affordable, and there are numerous apartments and rental homes to fit any budget.

Such an amazing move in experience!! Emily and Raelynn greeted me with such a loving energy I’ll never forget it . Very knowledgeable and helpful with getting to know the property and all it has to offer . Emily gave me a tour of the clubhouse, and wow! there’s so much to take in it’s truly got everything you would need from a shuttle service to a resort style pool and a study lounge with plenty of space for solitude . Matt and James on the maintenance team were also very polite and quick with the install of the newer tv that the property includes with every furnished unit . Such an amazing experience so far , and can’t wait to enjoy the amenities!

Loved my time here at elevate231. Only been here a couple of years but it’s been great college living. The pool is awesome and other amenities are cool too. The staff is super helpful and extremely friendly! Maintenance responds to requests pretty fast and fixes my stuff. Pricing can be high but the spacing in the apartment is worth it IMO. Definitely recommend!

This is a great spot. Lived here for about 3/4 months. Spacious rooms, good maintenance work, and solid from desk. Only thing I’ve had issues with has been WiFi and internet connection but they’ll be on top of this soon.

I have lived at Elevate 231 since my sophomore year, and could not wish for anything better. I live in a 3 bedroom apartment, and it is unbelievably spacious and beautiful. It is nice to have such a big room and connected bathroom upstairs, with a living room and kitchen downstairs perfect for hanging out with friends and relaxing. However, everything outside of the apartment is really what makes it for me. The clubhouse is newly renovated, and the amenities are stacked with a resort pool, fitness center, study pods, dog park, basketball court, and so much more. The shuttle is also amazing (runs 6 days a week), my roommate even lived here for two years without a car and it was an absolute lifesaver. Overall, I would recommend Elevate to anyone looking for great housing in Columbia!

Great place to live, very friendly community. The front desk has been so helpful. Seriously one of the best apartments for college students in Columbia
Great place! Good price for a good sized townhouse!
I moved in a couple months ago, and I can already say I am not impressed with Elevate's management. The maintenance works and cleaners I've encountered are rude. Elevate hired painters to paint the vacant rooms, the painters stayed in my house until 8PM and had to be forced to leave. The painters took a pot from my kitchen and put paint in it, who does that? Y'all really hired people who put toxic chemicals in my kitchenware. Your maintenance workers also left their trash in my unit, I love the professionalism! I've had distasteful interactions with wayyyyyyy too many of your employees considering the small amount of time I've been here. I got back to my unit after class today to my bedroom door being locked, which is funny since I did not lock it upon leaving. I enter my room to find furniture rearranged and a screw on my bed. Typically, I try not to leave sharp objects on my bed, so it definitely was not me. It is apparent that someone came into my bedroom and replaced a hinge on the closet (a hinge that had nothing wrong with it). Obviously, I call and then email the manager about this and prior issues. To my complete shock, though it probably shouldn't be with the abhorrent quality of service here, the manager simply says "nobody was in your unit." Are you kidding me???? There is literal evidence of maintenance being in my room and the manager refused to listen to my concerns. Since Elevate doesn't keep track of their own maintenance team, any of them can steal whatever they want from your units with no consequences whatsoever ig.
Everyone that works in the front office and in maintenance is so helpful! They’re all very timely and nice. 10/10 recommend living here
I love Elevate 231 after the new management. They have many great events for residents and all service requests have been completed to top tier condition since new management!
In the middle of my lease, a new management purchased the entire property. This led to the existing website and all automatic rent payments to be cancelled. No phone call, no email, no communication from staff, no signs around the buildings to let residents know. This led to a large late fee added to my account and after a long time I finally received a phone call from the staff. They said I had to pay the late fee and had no good reason why it couldn't be revoked. Very disappointed with new management. WIFI is super slow, property is covered with trash, maintenance issues take weeks.... stay away from this place.
If you are thinking about living in Elevate, DO NOT. I cannot stress this enough. The decent prices and big room sizes hide the fact that the management does not care and prefers to lie rather than actually fix anything. We've been promised new internet since July, but its now October 12 and the internet is topping out at 2mbps if you're lucky. With classes being all online, I'm having to wait a full day to download 1 project thats 4 gb. Also keep losing points from disconnecting to my Zoom classes. When I reached out to Elevate in an app they gave us to post our complaints, they completely deleted my concern. Following that I sent an email about my concerns that the internet is still not working, and have yet to hear back from them still. If the internet isn't bad enough to scare you away, how about your car getting broken into? Despite advertising a "gated community" the gates have not closed in almost 3 years, and they have told us for 2 years now that "they are fixing it". Possibly related is that cars have been getting broken into regularly since at least May of this year. Additionally, there's never a place to park, at least where I live, because people who do not pay to live or park here (yes they charge you to park where you already pay to live) come here to party every weekend or to play basketball everyday, with ill regards to the Covid pandemic that is ongoing. These are my largest concerns, I have some mild ones like that the pool was closed for the majority of the past 2 summers, including before covid. My house has not have a working dishwasher for 3 years, and we've had items stolen off of our porch. Unless you enjoy having no internet, items stolen from your car, having to walk to your house due to lack of spaces, and being completely lied to by management, DO NOT EVER LIVE AT ELEVATE231
We moved in on the move in day assigned for everybody. Only one of our keys worded for one of the doors. We then walked in to find out we were missing a tv and barstools. Nobody gave us a heads up or sent an email. We asked about them and they said the barstools would be in our apartment that day and that it would take up to 2 weeks for our tv. We left for two days and when we came back the barstools where no where to be found. We went and talked to them and they said they couldn’t get them until Monday because maintenance isn’t here but it says 24 hours maintenance. On top of that there was carpet and paint everywhere. They didn’t even attempt to clean it up. Horrible experience so far.
I haven’t had a working dryer for 6 months now. I just saw Elevate getting their pool ready... I pay rent on time and can’t get someone to order a heating component for my dryer?! DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Not only will your utility bill be $450-650/ per month, the staff will blatantly lie to you before you sign the lease saying it’s only $240/month. The highest utility bill in all of Columbia!! Even higher than actual houses...it does add up. The “friendly” staff is not so friendly either. Highly unprofessional. Please find a better place to live.
It’s probably one of the worst places to live in Columbia. If you want your utility bill to be $400-600 than be my guest. This so-called “luxury” student housing is such a joke. The security is a joke. They had us register our gate remotes, but did not even closed the gates. This place has always attracted robberies and shootings. The apartments were poorly made and are falling apart.
Stay away! Do not let your child live here. Poor management, no organization, exposed wiring, will move your student prior to their lease ending. No a/c for weeks on end etc... you get the idea.
The utilities are outrageously expensive, the buildings are very poor quality, the staff in the office may he nice, but are not helpful at all. Here lately there have been quite a few break ins, yet they are leaving the gates wide open 24/7 with the rent-a-cops nowhere to be found. The most recent development is almost the worst thing. They are putting cameras pretty much everywhere except the bathrooms and giving your parents 24/7 access to just watch what you're doing. THE BEDROOMS HAVE CAMERAS. You, as a student, won't even have access to the footage, but you best believe some freak at home office will probably have access to everyone's house. DO NOT LIVE HERE, YOU WILL REGRET IT AND THEY WILL DRAIN YOU FINANCIALLY. They don't even deserve one star.
Property Manager at The Collective at Columbia, Responded To This Review
Hello, We do apologize that you have had some concerns regarding security. We do have three Columbia Police Department officers who live on site and monitor the property, as well as a security company that performs nightly walks around the property. In regards to cameras in rooms, this is absolutely not true. There are outdoor cameras set up to monitor our property, but we have never installed cameras in any house on the property. We would be happy to discuss any of your frustrations; feel free to stop by the leasing office or give us a call at 573-309-4040.
I wish I could give 0 stars. If I could go back in time I would RUN away from Aspen Heights. I live in a two bedroom apartment by myself. I read terrible reviews about the utility bills, and made sure to bring this up thoroughly before moving in. They assured me they had fixed this problem, NOPE. My utility bill was $400 for the month of December, in which I was only in my apartment for four days. My parents home is 3x the size of my apartment and had the same price utility bill (and they actually used utilities all month). Downstairs can feel like 30 degrees while upstairs feels like 80. The carpets are stained and gross, and even though I brought this up to them they came to my apartment and said they "passed inspection" so there was nothing they could do. The dishwashers and laundry machines are terrible. The battery for the lock on my door died and I was locked out of my apartment for hours. There are parties every weekend (even had my car thrown up on). Overall just a terrible place to live. This is now my second month with a $350 utility bill. Such a waste. Please run far away from Aspen Heights. They'll lure you in with such "amazing deals" but trust me you will end up paying for it. Aspen Heights has ruined my first year of college experience. I spend all my time stressing about utility bills and picking up extra shifts just to pay for them.
if i had my way, aspen heights wouldn't get even 1 star. i have no issues with the lease but the utility bills are way higher than any other place i have lived. i am a single occupant and they have charged me $512 for utilities. when i went to the front desk to complain about it, nobody would even acknowledge this problem, they blamed it on the city of columbia, mo. i dont even live in my apartment anymore and they are charging me $512 for 1 month in utilities. they will lure you with all the weekly cookies and cupcakes, but please dont fall for it because the price you pay will be way higher. there have been complaints about aspen heights for years and even on news channels. do your wallet a favor, dont even pass around this neighborhood. also since its the touring time, aspen heights has disabled their comment section on facebook so that potential clients so dont read the bad reviews that aspen heights has recieved.
This place is an absolute dump. Shoddy construction at best. Be prepared to freeze in the winter since the place is under insulated there are gaps around the doors big enough for rodents to come in. Windows don't work properly, and the caulking in the bathrooms wasn't done properly, so water leaks into the walls and floor. The roofing and flashing is poor allowing water to leak below the singles. How this place ever passed inspection is a miracle. I will admit, the pool area is nice, however. As a "gated" community, the gate works some of the time - other times is doesn't. There have been felonies committed in Aspen Heights. More details about this can be found online. To make matters worse, the place is managed terribly. We received an invoice after moving out from a collection agency. Turns out the charges were legit, but we never received the original bill. If they had just billed us in the first place, we could have paid it there and then. Stay away from this place!
While the people at the office are friendly and do their job well, I have experienced a few problems. The utility bill is now with SimpleBills which was a dumb idea because it caused a lot of confusion and somehow the bills are way more expensive than they were last year. I understand the point of security of the gate but I really don't think that it is necessary and only one gate works overnight. The heat distribution in the house is awful and the dishwashers are subpar. I do like the size of my room/closet/bathroom. Crime has went down to my knowledge so that is okay.
Be prepared to pay at least an extra month's rent on move-out. Aspen Heights will charge you for basic cleaning and maintenance work to get the apartment ready for the next renter. What a deal for them! And what a deceptive and unfair business practice. That's even after we asked the office if there was anything needed to be done in terms of cleaning floors and carpet. What a total lack of integrity.
