Situated just seven miles south of Saratoga Springs, Malta provides a serene small-town setting for residents looking for a rental in eastern New York State. Bounded to the east by Saratoga Lake, this scenic locale blends charming towns with the vibrant countryside of rural New York. What was once a predominately single-family home market has seen an increase in luxury apartment rentals and townhomes. There are pockets of entertainment to be found all around Malta, including the Albany-Saratoga Speedway where residents can watch stock cars trade paint on the high-stakes dirt track.
Residents of Malta enjoy a relatively peaceful atmosphere, but with Saratoga Springs nearby there’s always something to do. Interstate 87 passes through town, making it easy to access Albany and Schenectady to the south.

Property Ratings at The Ellsworth
I loved these apartments. The very first thing that appealed to me was the sense of safety. I had a parking spot in the garage and you need a fob to get in. You need a fob to enter the building after business hours. You also need a fob to enter the elevators. I do have to say it is an overall very safe area. Next the staff was always so welcoming and down to earth. I felt like they knew me and my family, it was nice. Whenever I had to put a work order in it was filled that same day. I am in no way saying this is a given but I never felt like they put my problems off. They are simple but have beautiful details inside apartment. The walls seemed a bit thin at times but It was never a problem. I think we were the noisy neighbors. Great complex, would totally recommend. I have a five year old, didn't see many other kids there though.
I have been renting apartments past 10 years and I haven't had such a friendly and understanding leasing office staff. Sandy, the new property manager, is a very professional, understanding and accommodating for the tenants. I hope the owners will keep her as the property manager, forever! The complex is very close to GLOBALFOUNDRIES which was my work place. It was a very short distance to the work. For cold weathers, if you do not want to drive to the work, you can get the shuttle which is operated by this apartment complex and have a door to door service for both Admin 1 and Admin2 buildings inside the Fab8 campus. The drivers of the shuttle are also very friendly.
I lived in a 2 bed/2 bath apartment here for about 6 months. This apartment is in the middle of everything - right off route 9 (which goes everywhere in the area), right near the highway entrance, pharmacy, 24/7 grocery store, restaurants, etc. The apartments may seem expensive, but when you visit other places in the area you'll understand you are paying to stay in a clean, spacious, safe place and that's worth paying a bit more for. Security deposit is only about $200, which is lower than usual. The only thing I really took issue with here is that I lived in a 2nd floor apartment and it was COLD in the winter. The floor and window insulation is terrible, and the venting system is pretty inefficient. I actually had to wear socks/shoes when I walked in the kitchen or bathroom or else it would be painful, and things left on the floor were ice cold after an hour. Of course, this would only be an issue if you were on the 2nd floor above the garage and there are 4 floors in each building. But even that was something I could deal with for the high quality of everything else. The office was always great to me and you can tell maintenance really cares about what they do. There's a number of fantastic businesses right in the complex to walk to too which is cool. This place is certainly worth at least a walk through, I promise it will be worth it!
Property Manager at The Ellsworth, Responded To This Review
Thanks for your review! We loved having you here and hope to see you around. :)
Expensive apartments with small space as compare to many other available apartments nearby. Next to the car park/ garage, easily can hear noise into midnight. Worse, is many has issues getting back deposit when you are moving our the apartments. They have no intend to refund your deposits. Poor Management office.

Ellsworth Commons only charges $100, $200 and $300 security deposits. Most of our residents treat these apartments as if it were their own home. Occasionally we get the resident who does not clean their apartment upon vacating and they leave personal items behind. In the event the apartment is left un-cleaned with trash and or items left behind we will charge. Resident are more then welcome to be present for the move out inspection. Management
The staff love to see prototype personnel moving in, they understand that prototype is crazy and sucks the life out of you. They will do their best to help. I have 2 roommates, in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment, the apartment was clean when we moved in and came with a washer/dryer combo, a fridge, a dishwasher and a stove, otherwise you must furnish it or can pay $300ish a month to furnish. (Walmart furniture highly recommended). The location is very convenient, CVS is next door to the complex, ACE hardware across the street, coffee shop and sushi shop on bottom floor of one of the buildings, a grocery store 1/4 mile away, Walmart is a 15 minute drive, local resteraunts starting at 2 miles away, Nearest YMCA is a mile away (Prototype students receive a free membership to the local 4 YMCAs), post office and police station only 1/2 mile away. The only downside is the 20 minute drive to site, but it is very easily manageable with a little tiny bit of planning. Internet included in rent, for everything else you will be given a paper and told how to set it up. It is a really clean place and very accommodating to military members, I would recommend at least giving Ellsworth a look if you need a place to live.
I looked for an apartment for over two months, looked at on line reviews and used the apartment books that were offered in addition to visiting various apartments that fit my criteria and needs. Surprising most of the reviews were filled with negative comments and it was very disappointing and discouraging. I looked at Ellsworth Commons in Malta twice even though most of the reviews were so negative, filled with comments like no parking space available, thin walls you hear your neighbors every movements, unfriendly staff, uncooperative and do not respond to your concerns, cheaply built and poor quality materials. Well i've been living here for three months now and i must say that the office staff are more than willing to go out of their way to help you in the overall apartment process from the paperwork, the introduction to the complex and what it has to offer the initial move in inspection, assisting with acquiring your power and cable hook-up with the related companies and accommodating your needs for move in day. The apartment is very well maintained and clean, it was like moving into a new house only on a smaller scale. The appointments of the apartment are quality and up scale, the hallways are like walking through a five star hotel and you definitely do not hear your neighbors. There is ample parking and then some. I was very much surprised how well the grounds are maintained on a daily basis and the interior of the complex is cleaned both by staff and professional services. From a safety overview your buildings are fob entrance and elevator secure and the parking lots are illuminated very well, in addition they are patrolled by both NY State police and the Sheriffs department which gives you a very good sense of safety and security. There are numerous locations you can ride a bicycle or walk to for shopping, restaurants or just for exercise. You are literally located on route 9 and less than a mile from the adiroundack north way. From the time I made my final move from my house to my new apartment I felt like I made new friends with the apartment management and staff and I felt as if I were at home.
