Property Ratings at Elton Park Corktown Apartments
I lived in the Checker building at EP for a year. The unit was amazing and we didn’t have any major maintenance issues. Janet (management) was super kind and helpful when we needed her. However, management/staff entered our unit twice without consent, which made us feel very uncomfortable in our home. The second occurrence, there was a muddy/dirty footprint left in our bedroom and they never admitted to entering the space. Once is perhaps a forgivable mistake, but twice…no. They also retained $250 of the security deposit for some small holes left from pictures/mirrors. It’s not worth the time to fight it, so instead they get this candid review. I see this as a pretty crappy way of recouping vacancy costs. The next tenant to move into our old unit will be the fourth in four years. Apparently, we were not the only ones with issues. They have a great space in a great neighborhood, but they need to get it together from a management perspective.
The apartment switched management companies and charged me twice for the month of April (over drafting my account) and they have been ignoring my request to return the payment. Overall, the apartments were cheaply put together and not worth the price of rent. Would not recommend: -no recycling -trash room is always overflowing -mail room is chaos -difficult to get packages delivered -paid for a parking spot ($175 monthly) and regularly couldn't park there due to miscommunication or another resident parking where they shouldn't -impossible to get ahold of building manager
Water pressure is super low and it takes forever to fill water in a pot. It also takes 4-5 minutes to get hot water so every time I take a shower or cook I need to start the water and go do something then come back. Wall is thin and you can here everything from outside and from the hallway. Management is slow. It is a new apartment but that's it. Don't move here.

I recently moved in, and the staff has been really helpful, particularly Janet. Lots of restaurants within walking distance, and super quiet. Easy to walk right across the street to Ottava Via. I love living here and was lucky to get in before this unique community filled up!”
Having lived in Corktown for almost six months, I am extremely satisfied with the experience. The area provides a wealth of entertainment and dining options, and the location of Elton Park is perfect. The leasing/management team has been extremely responsive and helpful in getting me settled into my new home. The Checker building complex provides secure, convenient parking and very comfortable living spaces.
I would give them minus 5 stars if I could. Apartment itself is nice. Maintenance/leasing office sucks. They just ignore you for any concerns/requests. They never pick up phones, return emails or calls when you leave messages. It's not just once or twice but all the time. They have no sense of appropriate communications or professionalism. I would not recommend this apartment unless you like to be frustrated for things not being taken care of.
