Fairywood has a low cost of living and a variety of affordable mid-rise apartments available for rent. The neighborhood has two parks, but residents venture outside of the neighborhood for shopping and dining. There are several restaurants and stores located on the outskirts of Fairywood. Residents can hop onto Highway 60 for easy travel into neighboring communities or into the heart of Pittsburgh.

Property Ratings at Emerald Gardens
This is not a gated community and there is only onsite security for a few hours each evening. Even then they let just anyone in, barely even glancing up before opening the gate. The sand volleyball court is not new, there is no playground, and most of the laundry facilities do not work.
I’m very disappointed. I was showed one apartment which is called a phase 1. It was lovely clean and had sidewalk appeal bc the walk was clean with zero fractures. So when I was called, that was my expectation. When I arrived at the property, I asked to see the townhouse that I would be leasing. It wasn’t close to my expectation. The walk way had potholes or mini craters and instead of fixing the walk way, I was told that this was normal wear and tear. Then I do the walk through and the kitchen cabinets weren’t close to the quality of the place that I was shown. They may have been that way one in their life time, but certainly it was not what I was expecting. Then we got to the back yard, there was no effort to clean it for a new resident and the back patio had a huge crack, which I know from experience, you have to take care of that immediately. Pine cones all over the yard and up against the ac units. It was the worst impression. I was told this was all wear and tear. Then I was told all of the phase 1 town homes look that way. I almost laughed bc I told the gentleman that they should show the reality. It was a total bait and switch. I lost my deposit to save the price, but I was severely disappointed by how defensive the staff was and how the ignored the plain truth that the place that they show is far superior to the units that they try to give you. Please take my advice and show the real deal. You showed me a very niece townhouse, but what they tried to give me was an upgraded project unit. No thanks. The amenities seemed nice, but the house my was so below my expectations.
Pick a different apartment. I moved in and multiple things already broken in the apartment. This includes fire alarm, shower head was squealing, front electrical gfi outlet cover ripped off, patio door blinds were taped with clear tape and 7 of them fell down. I was later charged for 8 broken ones. I broke one of them. I picked up ten grocery bags of dog crap out of the dog park. Grass is usually a hayfield to walk in. The security gates- you can drive right around everything and they let anybody in. The security guards are super nice and so is Elese the front desk lady. The only two positive groups on this campus. The laundry mats have three out of six machines broken in all eight laundry facilities. The dog parlor spa has little to no water pressure. The lounge area is covered in dog hair when you sit on any of the furniture. Look elsewhere. They are also dishonest and once again they do NOT care attitude shows through their fake face towards you.
Rent has gone up nearly $400 the past few years. They will add an extra $100 a month to each new lease sign. They care more about the dogs than the owners. They state that it's a gated community but there is never a guard on duty. Dog crap is left everywhere and there is never any parking because they allow people from out of town park here and take the bus downtown. STAY FAR AWAY.
My time at EG was great. Upon move in, the apartment was clean, well painted, wood floors were great and kitchen counter tops were beautiful. Upstairs rugs were clean and heat, water, gas worked just fine. I had a couple repairs later on I needed done [screen door, seal around front door] and maintenance was SUPER fast. He had it fixed the day after I submitted a request. The managers Livia and Chris were nothing but delightful and always helpful. Laundry rooms were clean and honestly don't cost more than any other apartment complex laundry. I've read some reviews about noise level and thin walls. Could I hear my neighbors yelling during Steelers games? Yes. But it's not as though I could hear full conversations. Expect a normal level of noise associated with sharing walls with other people. The gym was really nice to have so close and I liked that the management held different community events [dog meet and greet, halloween trick or treat]. I loved my time at EG and had I not needed to move for work I would still be there. Live here.
My husband and I love living here!! The community is very well taken care of with landscaping and garbage removal. The laundry rooms are always convenient and clean. If anything is broken maintenance will fix it promptly and efficiently. The staff always have fun events/ gifts for residents to show their appreciation which is amazing and unheard of now-a-days. We really appreciate the care that they show us and the neighborhood. Great place to start a family with lost of storage space in every unit. The walls are a little thinner than I would like but it depends on the courtesy of your neighbor. As long as your neighbors don't yell or laugh at the top of their lungs 24/7 you hardly notice anyone living next to you. Very close to shopping center and downtown attractions. There is bus stops all along the main road so it is very convenient to get anywhere. I recommend to all my friends and family because we absolutely LOVE living here and plan to stay for many years to come!
absolutely gorgeous peaceful and serene looking. I love the look of the Clubhouse and the gym would be wonderful. Love the look of the laundry facilities nice and spacious.
I loved living here! Me and my family had so much space. it felt like we we're living in a house but for way cheaper. The dog park was a great bonus. I also loved that the fitness center was open 24-hours. it made my workout so much easier once i put the kids to bed. Really nice pet and family friendly community. The staff is also wonderful. I will be renewing my lease!
I lived here for a year, never any parking ever after 5pm. Manager is very unprofessional and rude to residents, does not do his job well. Walls are paper thin, you can hear your neighbors showering and talking in all rooms. When moving out they make up lies to charge you and keep your security deposit. Will charge you for cleaning and carpet stains regardless of it you actually cleaned or not. It's cheaply made but expensive.
If you are looking for a place with some peace and quite with an easy commute into the city, look no further. This is perfectly located between the Robinson area and Downtown Pittsburgh. They do a great job of keeping up with the landscaping and yard work. They are constantly reinvesting money into the small gated community in order to keep a well maintained property, the most recent being a small gym. All-in-all, this is a great place to live whether you are a student or a young professional getting your career started.
I rented through Apartments for 1 years and it was a wonderful experience. The staff are kind, helpful and accommodating. When I first came to them needing to find an apartment within a short time span they were super helpful and got me in a good spot quickly and efficiently. Any time I had complaints or requests for the apartment the staff had it taken care of within 24 hours. I never had any pest problems personally, The other benefit of Apts. is the cheap rent. All in all, if you're looking for a place in near city I can recommend emerald gardens I'm positive you won't be disappointed.
I moved here over a year ago and I couldn't be happier nice size room not too big and if any issues arises maintenance takes care of quickly would highly recommend
Two bedroom/one small bath apartment ok for now considering I live with my girlfriend & a 2 year old daughter. Not my dream future home but a nice complex. Rent $800.00 per month but still tough as I work two part-time jobs with hopes of getting on full-time at one of the jobs. Complex always keeps yards/landscape nice & are always prompt if maintenance is needed.
Awesome place to live, great for animals, good community feel. Only con thin walls, but just communicate with your neighbors and it is a great place to live.
