Tucked in the northwest corner of Cook County, suburbs such as Hoffman Estates, Palatine, South Barrington and Schaumburg vary widely in personality and composition. Schaumburg, the largest in population, is home to Ikea and Woodfield Mall, the largest mall in the Chicago area. Palatine, developed on a wooded marshland, comes in at a close second in size. Hoffman Estates, while smaller, is the most densely populated of the four suburbs and is home to AT&T's Midwest headquarters and Sears Holding Corporation. South Barrington, tiny in comparison, and arguably the most affluent in the area, is home to the famous mega church, Willow Creek Community Church.
Heavy traffic can double or triple commute times, so area locals know to check the highway reports before leaving home. Normal drive time into the city from this area is about 30 minutes via the Interstate 90 tollway. An easy 20 minute drive will take residents to O'Hare International Airport.

Property Ratings at Enclave Apartments of Hoffman Estates
Lovely community and such a friendly staff! Any issues were addressed immediately and they've all been so helpful with everything. Lease application was super simple and someone was always available to address any questions/concerns I have.
Love the apartment been here 3 years and love it …….
This apartment complex is located in an ideal spot. Hardwood floors throughout the apartment and carpet in the bedroom. Great parking. Relaxing environment.
Everyone is friendly in the office as well as the neighbors! Management has been doing a great job at renovating the buildings! They recently installed new carpet in the hallways which gives it a nice new touch!
This place is a total dump ,just look elsewhere just been here a month and already the roaches have entered my apartment, the building is roach infested so I can’t get rid of them there in the hallways and in the elevator, didn’t see them when I moved in , and the hallways smell of garbage all the time, the police is at the building for issues all the time and it’s not safe here the side door glass was broken and the lock is not working, they list on website utilities included they are not , the management of the property is dishonest , just look elsewhere unless you don’t mind living in a dump with bugs and roaches and not a safe place to live, and if you like quiet because you need to sleep for work forget about that too
Very helpful when I was trying to find a new Place and I love it here so far thank you
The manager from the office was Very rude, does not know how to communicate professionally with the renters of these buildings. I came to get information and I got a bad response back…
Hope you’re reading this Toni! This place is an absolute hellhole and I’m shocked to see so few reviews about this. Roaches everywhere. Saw a rat the second day I moved in in the hallway. Last summer it rained hard every week so every week without fail I had to sit out towels and pots to catch the water that was coming out of my window and balcony door. Mind you the rain was falling right next to an outlet. I call and email, nothing was ever done. I’m allergic to roaches and other dirty things and when I told them this they came and sprayed an oily substance on my floors and in my cabinets when I wasn’t home and it got all over the things I owned. . Stay far far away they are taking advantage of first time applicants I’ve heard this same story from other tenants in the building. Even the maintenance man talks crap about management because they refuse to do their jobs! Pretty sure management writes the positive reviews btw.
I've been living in this apartment complex for going on 5 years now. The management is absolutely wonderful and are always very timely in responding. The apartments have newer appliances and they are constantly doing work to improve/maintain the property. I also love the atmosphere here. Everyone is so kind. I just love it.
I’ve had nothing but problems since they day I moved in. They changed my apartment on me last minute because of “repairs” that needed to be done so I didn’t see my apartment until the day I moved in. It had your average lived in dents and bruises nothing major. About a month later I noticed the water in the kitchen would barely run and the A/C in my bedroom did not work anymore it just blows cold air. That was three months ago that I noticed this and I have yet to hear from maintenance or the office. The rent is too high for me not to have access to easy and quick servicing. They also got rid of the recycling dumpster which is annoying because some people actually care about the environment. The tenants are also some of the nastiest and rudest people I’ve encountered. I’ve had wet clothes taken out of the dryer and set aside so that they can steal my money and people will leave garbage all throughout the hallways, by the doors, and in the parking lots. Neighbors are constantly blaring loud music every single day without fail. As soon as my lease is up, I’m out of here. Don’t bother trying to call the leasing office they will either not answer or redirect your call to a corporate office who will take your message and not do anything with it. Do yourself a favor and looks somewhere else.
Property...Manger Toni and Frida, Were very attentive, when we had a minor situation they were on top of it. They resolve it immediately. Very happy with Maintenance crew. They work hard and keep the apartment complex clean. Very pleased, Thank you!!!! Abel, Kimmy
Great place to live in! Office staff and maintenance are extremely helpful and always get the Job done!! Love it!!!
Beautifully renovated units for a great price! I have enjoyed living in this community - this is a nice quiet neighborhood great for going for dog walks and helpful friendly staff that make it a comfortable place to call home.
Happy to find you found those departments clean of any animal and the office very friendly, excellent service
I have enjoyed living at this apartment complex for the past 2 years - it is close to the highway, shopping, schools and the grounds keepers are always keeping the inside and outside of the apartments clean. Snow is always shoveled and the complex is well lit at night. it is also nice that pets are welcome at this property.
I truly enjoy living here! Office staff extremely helpful with any questions or concern I have. Dont usually have any maintenance request but units are modern and nice. Happy to be a resident here
I lived here for a little over a year and couldn’t wait to move. ROACHES....are the biggest problem the floor tile is brown to camouflage them .Air comes in during the winter around the windows and the air conditioners they put plastic around them and it was still cold the bathroom sinks drains slowly the stoves are too close to the wall I believe are a fire hazard you can’t even fit your finger between the wall and the stove. Getting ready to Sue over my security deposit not being released within the 45 days by law. Toni in the office is RUDE.
The new clubhouse just got done being built and I got to walk through it today. It is so beautiful and inviting! It has a excersize room, kitchen/lounge area and an office with two computers. This may be my new favorite spot to hang out after I get off work. -Current Resident of 2-1/2 years
I truly enjoy living here. Friendly staff. Maintenance professional and quickly fixes any issue. I am looking forward to the new clubhouse. Thank you Enclave for keeping the hallways and outside clean.
There are many negatives of living at Enclave of Hoffman Estates. Here is a short run down of the problems we experienced while residing in this complex. 1)The bugs are a HUGE problem. The building is old and may be renovated and a coat of paint slapped on, but don’t be fooled. We found bugs in the apartment almost every day. We kept a VERY neat and tidy home and we still managed to find cockroaches crawling on our counters even with food being kept in air tight containers. 2)The model they will show you will be nothing like the apartments they have. The kitchen cabinets are different and so is the layout from the bathroom to the bedroom. The model they showed us had a walk through closet from the bedroom to the bathroom. Nope. Not in the unit we were given. 3)The smell of curry is overpowering from about 4pm-3am. The walls have a nice orange tint to them from the smell of the neighbors cooking all night. Good luck sleeping with the smell of curry smacking you in the face at midnight. 4)Depending on who your neighbors are, you might have to listen to banging on the wall at 3am on a Wednesday. The walls are paper thin. 5)Speaking of the paper thin walls, you can hear all the little critters running around in the ceiling. I have seen multiple mice in the building and there was even a dead mouse in the front entrance of the building for a solid two weeks. Sorry you had to die in such a nasty place buddy. We’ve even had a bat come stay with us inside for a while. That was a great thing to discover. SUPER glad no one was hurt or bitten. 6)The water pressure basically doesn’t exist. Filling up a bath tub will take you around 15-20 minutes. They continually “work to fix the problem” but I’m not holding my breath. Bottom line: There are much better places. Keep looking and run far far far away from Enclave of Hoffman Estates.
terrible place to live bed bugs cockroaches ants water turned off with no warning fire in the apartment buildings susan never gave invoice for security deposit is very unprofessional lies about everything PLEASE DONT LIVE HERE ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING
So where should I start the building they put me in was not and still is not ready for tenants The waters brown and water pressure is horrible the fire alarms go off at all hours of the night for no reason and there was a fire in a neighboring apartment on my floor and the arms didn't go off and when I went to the office to ask management said they checked to see if everyone was out and I was never told anything I have pets I shouldn't have to worry about my pet or my safety in my home as well The management is rude not helpful at all never lets me know when work will be done on my apartment when I moved in there were stains on my what they told me were brand new floor and when I asked them they said to just wash them and it would come off it hasn't I am now needing to move because of all the problems and management won't get documentation stating they will refund the money or when I will be receiving it either I WOULD NEVER NEVER recommend someone moving in this complex
Property Manager at Enclave Apartments of Hoffman Estates, Responded To This Review
We are sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. I just wanted to clarify a couple of statements made in this review. 1st and foremost, there was no fire that put anybody in harms way. It was something that happened on the outside of the building and as a result smoke had entered into a vacant unit. As far as the fire alarms going off at night, management was unaware there was a problem till the Hoffman Estates fire department said that the system tripped off on a couple of occasions and to have the system looked at by our alarm company, Alarm company came out same day to remedy the situation. As far as move out documentation the Illinois State law requires landlords to send out statements within 30 days regarding deposit and receipts if there are any charges being deducted from the deposit. Also Illinois State law requires that all deposit checks be postmarked 40-45 days after move out. We apologize for any misunderstanding that you had regarding this law.
Roaches everywhere horrible management don't waste your money
They have done a great job with the remodel. Being that I have never seen the place before the renovations, I can't judge the difference. But based on the outside of the complexes, I can assume they weren't very well kept. We have been living here for about 3 months now. The leasing office team is very nice and always helpful. The only negatives I can say is that you can smell food being cooked all over the complex. So there are sometimes some unpleasant smells. The elevators could use a little TLC and have carvings into the doors. There are no washers or dryers in any of the buildings. We were told laundry facilities will be there, but we haven't seen any yet. The patios have been closed off since we moved in and they seem to be taking forever to get them done. The water pressure is absolutely terrible. Filling a pitcher of water is time consuming and you can forget about taking a shower. You either get Hoth or Moordor. There is no happy medium. There is not a dishwasher or garbage disposal. I wish there were trash shoots as well. The parking lot does not have many lights, and the ones that are there turn off at random and inconvenient times. The counter and storage space for the kitchen is quite limited so we had to improvise with furniture. The pros are that the rent includes utilities except for electricity. We are on the 3rd floor so we mostly keep the windows open and we get a nice breeze. We haven’t paid over $60 for electricity yet. It has a great location. 10 minutes from Woodfield and close to major grocery stores. The staff is nice and helpful as well. Its not a bad place to live. Just be aware of both the pros and cons.
Property Manager at Enclave Apartments of Hoffman Estates, Responded To This Review
We are very happy to hear your feedback on Enclave Apartments! To date, the balconies are installed on the 600 and 700 Buildings. We have remodeled all the elevators and have also added a grilling area with picnic tables for the resident's enjoyment. We are not done yet! More upgrades to come
When we first got there rent was cheap and the apartments were good. Now they are "renovating" and they are taking super long. The whole building from the inside is torn apart. They started on some of the walls but did not finish. They are also planning to raise the rent even though they have not finished the renovations.
Property Manager at Enclave Apartments of Hoffman Estates, Responded To This Review
All though the renovations are not complete as of yet we are making significant progress. All apartments are full renovations consisting of stainless steel appliances, new kitchen cabinets, wood flooring, new carpet in bedrooms along with all new lighting and electrical and new baths. The hallways are renovated along with the lobbies in each building. 700 building has new balconies and roof. Lots of great things to come!
The staff here are awesome. Every time I had a problem they were quick to fix it. All utilities are included in rent except electric. Only lease term is 1 year, but they will make exceptions for a 6 month on a case by case basis.
Susan the property manager and Lisa her minion of a front desk secretary have put me and my roommate in a huge series of problems starting with the first day we moved in. The pictures look appealing online and everything seems great but once moved in you will begin to see what I am talking about. There are infestations of cockroaches, bed bugs and brown water coming out of the drains along with their "new vision" they deny any knowledge of those two serious bug problems. What ever the case may be that should make any wonder about their promptness when dealing with these types of "immediate" problem solving that they so often defend. This place is a scam and I am now drained of my savings and have dealt with the embarrassment of having these issues and am happy to say after TWO WEEKS my roommate and I can call that mistake history. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME ONE. I am serious...
I visited this community recently and all I have to say is WOW! I grew up in this area and know of this place and it was a hole. New management bought this place-what a change. The hall colors are different and fresh. The rental office is amazing and inviting and the vacants have a rich dark wood lament floor, real stainless steel appliances, painted black cabinets and stainless handles, all new light fixtures, ceiling fans, new kitchen counters, bath vanities, medicine cabinets the list goes on and best of all air conditioners in every room! Even will to take my dog! The manager was friendly and covered my needs and must haves with me (they met every single one!) including being in my price range and safety concerns (they are installing cameras and entry systems) They are also redoing the outside of the property and they have a mock patio on display so you can see what they are doing. I left my deposit and excited to move in!
My apartment here is completely remodeled and i love it. The floors are great and it ia very spacious. Management has been awesome and have addressed my issues immediately.
