Property Ratings at English Meadows Apartment Homes
Absolutely horrid. How can you not accept online rent in 2022?! Because of this, they even lost my rent check and sent a 5 day notice. They'll also tow your car, even if you pay extra for a garage (which doesn't even have automatic door, it's literally 2x4 lumber with sketchy walls). Gave my car a flat tire due to their pothole-ridden parking lot. Electrical is shotty, lights flicker and outlets even flicker. They won't fix it. This whole place is a hazard. Stay away.
UNSAFE This place made me never want to rent anywhere again. I lived here for two years & at first it was fine. A little bit run down but definitely still live-able. I was living alone & I always had a Ring camera set up in my living room for when I wasn’t home, just to make sure no one was going into my apartment without me knowing. I am so happy I had this camera because a maintenance worker kept entering my apartment without giving me notice.. the apartment managers had no idea that he was entering my home. I sent them the videos & all they said was “this has never happened before & will never happen again” also if I wasn’t a “young attractive female this never would have happened”. I still to this day do not know what “maintenance work” he was doing in my home. He would only go into my bathroom & my bedroom, never went into the kitchen or living room. I notified the police but they said I can’t prove he wasn’t in there for work related reasons.. I got out of there as fast as I could & didn’t even live there the last month that I paid rent for because I didn’t feel safe. The worst part is THE GUY STILL WORKS THERE. So if you are renting there or anywhere else please be safe & get a camera because you never know who has keys to your apartment.
I lived here from 2018-2019 I loved it management was great no major issues besides with neighbors. But overall a nice place to stay.
If you want to over pay on an outdated apartment this is the place to be. English Meadows welcomes you with a green dirty pool with no cover that you pay for per month not to use and even when its open good luck, they will always find a reason to close it even if there is a 5 % chance of rain..... They are quick to tow cars and trust me you or someone you know will have their car towed at a hefty fee of $300. not exaggerating. They will call you and nitpick everything little move you do. From were to park in the snow to how far you parked to the side walk to how far you parked away from the side walk. This isn't even the half of it but I need to let everyone know, stay away. There are hundreds of other properties around with comparable prices around. DO NOT RENT HERE REPEAT DO NOT RENT HERE. YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR DEPOSIT BACK WHEN YOU LEAVE NO MATTER HOW CLEAN AND ORGANIZED YOU ARE. This isnt going out of place of hate, this is more or less letting people know this is a warning of how bad this property is.
We like it so far we been here as long your following the rules and doing what your asked to do. Its not so bad its pretty nice place to live. Management does great job they are strict but that means they are doing there job! If you don't know Rose or Rebecca personal and treat them with respect, you may not like them at first because you don't know them. However soon over the year we been here so far we got to know them little more they are great and doing the job the are doing and Maintenance does good job to keep the place nice and responds to there calls and even if the place is old they are at least trying to keep it up, good job to you guys!! I highly recommend this place anyone to live here if you can follow the rules you will love it and want to live here.
The reviews I see here are so old. I do believe that more people should remember the positive. We all tend o complain when things don't go well or our way! Forget to say nice things or even thank the staff for all they are doing. This property has seen many changes with a new owner, and Staff. Rose is still here and is great! Rebeca adds just the right mix to make the office a well run machine! If you don't want to follow the rules, don't move here!!!! I love my apartment, the positive changes, and the location. Maintenance works hard to get to you as quickly as possible. I can tell you that I like it here. Dont read the removes from years back...
I originally moved in back in 2005 the place was beautiful, AC was a lot better than what i had in a previous apartment complex, place was clean and apartment was furnished well. Back then maintenance was great, and I felt safe being there. As time went on parking became terrible, I gave up on the laundry room and just did laundry at the laundry mat a few blocks away only catch is when you got back there was never parking so it was a hike to bring your stuff back in. Neighbors all smoked and being asthmatic it became an issue, apartment actually started falling apart. There was a foundation issue that still exist were the walls are actually higher than the floors, yes I am serious the floors are actually dropping in the two units I have seen in the past few months. When the problem originally happened my unit got attacked with carpenter ants and I mean bad it took three months with little help from the land lord to get that under control. I have since visited some friends there and their bathrooms are gross with the floors giving out and missing ceilings above the showers (failed plumber repairs). In the past few months the company is now under new ownership. Completely new management, less luxuries, rent has gone up big time, and if you have visitors I have been told the person you are visiting has to provide you with a visitor tag for your car which cost the person 20 dollars each. Think of when the holidays who just has one visitor. Parking is still bad and no major updates have been done in quite a while. The Parking lot is terrible in winter and i have missed a few days of work unable to get my suv out of there parking lot. I am happy to be a homeowner now and have been visiting the apartment complex for many years, suggest you look seriously at other options before deciding on this one
We finally found an apartment that we really want to live in, and they won't let us out of our lease. I have had my fill of no parking spaces, poor maintenance, if any, moved in on a sub-lease 8 years ago, and my carpet has never been cleaned, the apartment was never painted. They fix things just enough to get by for a few days or weeks, the office personnel never answer the phone, both bathrooms have had water damage, mold in the ceilings, you can hear everything in the apartment above and below you, the washer and dryers are always broken or you just can't get one. The halls are gloomy and always smell from everybodys different cooking smells, or smoke smells. Sick of this place. CANNOT WAIT TO GET OUT!!! This doesn't even deserve 1 star!! Don't move here!!!!!! Does not deserve 1 star!
My boyfriend and I have been living at English Meadows for the past few years, and we have been renting a one-bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor. We moved from our other apartment to this one because of a high increase in rent at the old one. We found this one to be more affordable, bigger, quieter, and nicer. We are generally pleased with our stay here, but there have definitely been some things that have not been so good. Positives: - Great location: close to freeway, close to shopping, short drive to downtown Milwaukee and surrounding areas - Nice neighborhood: the complex is tucked back away from a main road, but the apartment area is generally quiet with lots of green space - Outdoor pool: available in summer (We have never used it, though, so we cannot attest to its condition.) - Heat and water included in rent - Patio/balcony - Walk-in pantry Negatives: - Older building: no central air conditioning, older furnishings, old smell, some damages - Expensive/inconvenient on-site laundry: there is no in-unit washer/dryer, so you have to use the two washers and two dryers in the basement that are for the whole building; oftentimes, they are in use - Inconsistent maintenance: sometimes you will receive a response right away, other times it will take weeks; it does not matter whether or not you call or use the email address for this; snow removal is often not very prompt and it is difficult to get cars out of the lots in the morning for going to work - Inconsistent office staff: oftentimes the office will be closed during posted office hours with no explanation or indication given for a planned time of return; this seems to have gotten worse over the time we've been living here - High increases in rent without much prior notice (though, this seems to be pretty much anywhere) - Conjoined balcony: our neighbors have children, and they are very loud; we can hear everything that goes on next door if our sliding window is open - Tiny kitchen: the small galley kitchen is not big enough for for than one person to be in there at one time unless you coordinate your movements very carefully; doors of fridge, oven, and dishwasher completely block movement. Overall, we've been alright with this as one of our first apartments, but as soon as we are able to, we will be moving. In my opinion, the apartment with all included and not-included amenities is not worth the cost of rent.
