Property Ratings at Essington Village
This complex is the definition of getting what you pay for. It’s the cheapest location within a 10 mile radius for a reason. This was/is my first apartment and I couldn’t be more ready to move. My girlfriends car has been broken into, someone was literally murdered across the street at the Dairy Queen, and there is constantly cars coming and going at all hours of the night. Not to mention the cockroaches. No matter how clean you keep your apartment, you cannot avoid them. They offer pest spraying however the instructions they give you are very misleading. You are told to move EVERYTHING in the apartment (ie. furniture electronics etc.) at least 6-8 inches from the wall everywhere for the sprays. However when I spoke to the exterminator, he informed me they only spray the kitchen and sometimes the bathroom. The kitchen is definitely the hot spot however I do not appreciate finding roaches in my bedroom. Oh and the best part? This spray will do next to nothing. This complex will make you feel disgusting move elsewhere at all costs.
Over the people that work there are nice and they are trying to take care of the problem but it is a problem. I do like the location and I did get along with my neighbors, but cars were messed with. When things needed fixed they did a great job on repair. But for spraying for bugs I feel like they didn’t give enough time.
The place was filled with bugs. They’d always bring pest control but they don’t do nothing. They charge unnecessarily if you forget to take a single item out of the cardboard. There were mice everywhere. Receptionist are rude. Don’t rent here! Unless you’re willing to spend $75 every two weeks for pest control that doesn’t even work. Buy your own insecticides and mouse traps. Horrible place.
It’s really bad the service is not good the apartments are nasty there’s cockroaches and mouses and they are money hungry and they charge people for no reason. This is the nastiest apartment complex! Never come here
This service is bad because it is full of mice, they won’t repair stuff when we cal on they decline us it’s cost 900 for just another key when u Lose the key,and they put a oven that is 2 big
This place is trash. Lived here for a year and getting out asap. My place didn't have too many roaches, but definitely there. Walls are paper thin. Maintenance will arrive when you call but they don't fix anything. Cars get broken into. People here leave trash everywhere. The worst was hearing gunshots frequently. These are better trap houses than living spaces. They take money orders so if you got cash you're in. The area is poppin.
They asked me if I wanted a newly renovated apartment or a standard I wanted new I had a 8 month old baby so only the best I thought well wrong I was prepared for some problems no where is perfect but this place is the worst I bought all new furniture when I moved first week had bug bites all over me I told them they said they would fix the problem they did there so call treatment never seen them do it I might add and now 3 MONTHS later I still have them and they are trying to get me to pay to take care of the problem this place is infested with BED BUGS, MICE I caught 7, and I guess my neighbors got cockroaches good price but I could have a house and still pay the same please don’t do this to yours self
They let us move in knowing full well the apartment was crawling with roaches. More than I have ever seen in my life. Nearly a year and about 8 exterminator visits later, it’s better but they’re not gone. We keep clean and I even bought my own bait, but they’re likely in every unit. The exterminator told me the office knew the condition and still let is move right in. On top of that, they won’t fix anything. They refuse to fix the patio door, despite the obvious fire hazard and the fact that parking is in the rear. I’ve been trying for weeks to get them to fix the A/C and they’ve ignored multiple requests to fix the stove. There was no shower curtain rod in the bathroom. They didn’t clean the apartment or change out the carpet before we moved in. All of the appliances are outdated and they had a sewer backup into the building the day we moved in. It’s pretty gross. They don’t care.
They offered an online paying service then didn't approve it in time and charged me a late fee, after that they refused to add the fee cost into next months rent even tho they admitted that it was their fault because "its a busy time". The worst kind of people to rent from. Regardless of what they say the apartments do have roaches and their "professional cleaners" don't actually clean stuff, it feels more like its just a group of dudes with a regular vacuum. I would rate the place lower but this wont let me. avoid if at all possible.
I have lived here in a spacious 3 bedroom apartment for about 15 months now and I have nothing bad to say. Work orders are responded to in a timely fashion and to be honest i haven't had too many issues to call about to begin with. The office crew and maintenance are great. They are always friendly when I have contacted them with issues. My apartment feels very modern. The neighborhood is pretty quiet and we feel safe while we are at home or out in the area. We are very close to everything and there are plenty of shopping options.
We moved in to a two bedroom in January and so for its been great. They came within the first few days to fix any issues we had. Which wasn't much. It's been very quite and the neighbors keep to themselves. Haven't had issues with pests but I know each building is probably different. Love that you have a key code to get into your building and you don't have to leave the building to get your mail.
Lived here over a year and the maintenance come and go as they please. No appointments and no warnings. And they are completely incompetent. Asked several times to fix stove, they just moved the wires around and never fixed it. Again, asked several times to fix furnace before the winter cold set in, and they never fixed the underlying problem. Had to purchase another small heater to keep warm. Speaking of keeping warm, the complete lack of insulation on windows and sliding glass door make it almost impossible to keep heat inside apartment. Spent way too much on electricity keeping temp above freezing. The walls are so thin you can hear every sound upstairs neighbor makes. The price may be cheap, but you end up spending way more in other expenses. Not worth it.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I first moved in, seeing as this was the cheapest apartment I could find within driving distance of my job! I'm happy to say that so far, I've been pleasantly surprised; The office and maintenance staff are very nice and always helpful, and respond quickly whenever I have a problem. The apartment itself (studio) was clean when I moved in, and everything is in good working order. The kitchen area is a bit tiny, but other than that I've got plenty of space to work with, including a full bathroom and a HUGE closet in the main room. Oh, and the neighborhood itself is better than I was expecting; seems like a lot of families live around here, and people mostly keep to themselves and act respectfully towards their neighbors. Admittedly, there were roaches when I first moved in (those tiny german kind), but the process of professional extermination was already underway, and now I can't even remember the last time I saw one. Apparently, there was a change of management not long before I moved in, and it's clear the new company is really trying hard to make this place nice; At this rate, I'll be happy to continue living here for years to come!
Every single building deals with mice. Ask around to anyone walking outside here. The spray for bed bugs. A lot of foreign people live in this community and bring bugs. They’ve said they’ve dealt with mice for years. The also up rent every lease resign by 20 or more
Horrible !! They had roaches not sure if they fixed it throughout the place but in my building they fixed it. Now they have mice!!! I've been staying here for 2 years going on 3 and I'll be happy when my lease is up!
Horrible! I'm currently a renter here patiently waiting for my lease to be up but I'm not sure that I can. We've been here over 4 years and just recently it's become mice infested! We reported it and their answer: glue traps and mouse bait. Doesn't work at all! It's not safe to live in fear of seeing mice. Also, our oven door needed to be replaced so they put on a door that was too big and Everytime I use the oven heat comes out. We needed to have our tub repainted and it took them nearly 2 years! My husband was injured and they wouldn't accommodate him. Our electric plugs are upside down and not even screwed into the walls. Most of the washers in the laundry room are broke and you pay $50 for a "gym" with broke down workout equipment! We work too hard to come home and be stressed out about our living conditions! Buyer beware!!!
While the apartment isn't bad; meaning I've lived in worse, I'm not sure I'd go recommending it. For $500 a month it's actually pretty good, howevwr, the kitchen. Needs a lot of work. It's small and the oven doesn't work great. The diswarsher is under the sink so it won't hold any dishes. The insulating between apartments is lacking. But in general, it's not a bad place to live.
