From its colorful murals to its fantastic river views, Downtown Vancouver stands out as a fun-filled, trendy neighborhood directly across the Columbia River from Portland. The heart of downtown, Esther Short Park, is the Northwest’s oldest park, established in 1853. Like the rest of Downtown Vancouver, this isn’t your typical park – it includes an interactive fountain, a rose garden, and the Salmon Run Bell Tower. The park is the location of a variety of city festivals and events, including the Vancouver Farmers Market and the Vancouver Brewfest.
Explore Vancouver’s frontier past at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site and at the Clark County Historical Museum. Downtown Vancouver offers a variety of shops and restaurants along the very walkable Main Street, including local favorites like Thai Orchid, Brickhouse Bar, and Compass Coffee. Catch a movie at the art deco Kiggins Theatre, first built in 1936, or see a live performance at the Magenta Theater.

Property Ratings at Esther Short Commons
Been here for a few months and can’t complain. Great views. Good management and good maintenance staff. Wish I found sooner
Those other reviews are fake. It's an awful place to live. Trains blowing their horns and squealing their brakes all night long. The management is so awful it's almost nonexistent. There's frequently barf in the elevators and kids run up and down the hallways all day and night and it sounds like a herd of rhinos.
My one bedroom should be listed as a studio. The two bedrooms are better but the second bedroom is closet-sized. New managers (as of July) I am not impressed with as when you go into office, you're not greeted -- they just sit there and don't respond when you state your business! The good? Nice location and neighbors. Janitor staff is good. The bad? Elevators are filthy even though they are cleaned weekly. No amenities except small lending library. Parking is also a major problem.
I have lived here for more than once. They are great apartments especially for the price and the convient location downtown. I love living here and although the complex could use a few more amenities, there is a reason why I came back here. The management is friendly and willing to accommodate your needs as well as fix issues that may arise.
I live In ester short commons and I live In a second floor there's 4 levels. There's restaurants and farmers Market there Is a New Waterfront with New Thanks to do. They have concerts and Movie's and the Hawaiian day and more.
I really enjoy living at my building, and have lived there for about 5 or 6 years now. I have a lovely view overlooking the most popular community park, and a great balcony to enjoy the outdoors during nicer weather. I do wish that the building didn't have such a high turnover of staff. For years, it was well maintained and always clean, but now the new management doesn't seem to be as meticulous about cleanliness. I also wish that you could receive tenant improvements just like any other new tenant that moves in. I still have old flooring and counter tops and have lived here for quite some time, while a brand new tenant is receiving upgrades and improvements and we're still paying the same price.
