Bordering Washington Park to the East, Hyde Park is a popular and culturally diverse South Side community. Lush, spacious parks and the University of Chicago campus dominate the neighborhood. Although there is a wide selection of luxury communities, there are many apartments and rental houses that are surprisingly affordable, attracting students, faculty, staff, and any renters looking for a good deal.
This small park-like neighborhood is rich with history. Hyde Park is home to one of Chicago’s most famous landmarks: The Museum of Science and Industry, the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere. Hyde Park was also home to the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, several Nobel Prize winners, and former President Barack Obama. The neighborhood is surrounded by beautiful green spaces, lush foliage, and lakefront parks with small beaches. Midway Plaisance Park is a long stretch of parkland with sports facilities and an outdoor skating rink.

Property Ratings at Everett Apartments
The apartment seemed great until I moved in. There are ants EVERYWHERE. The floor boards to the neighbor upstairs are so old and weak that you can hear absolutely EVERYTHING. Banging, creaking, breathing, speaking, yelling, stomping, etc. I complained a few times since the noise goes from 5 am to 2 am nearly everyday. I play white noise, music, war ear plugs, and it's still unboreable. I work from home so now I have to leave my house everyday to find a quiet place. I've never experienced noise this bad before - my friends and family and next door neighbor were equally shocked. When I complained multiple times the building didn't care at all - they told me to call 311. So unprofessional. I wish they helped me find a solution I would have renewed by lease for much longer.
My partner and I just moved into our apartment in Hyde Park. We are doing an Americorps program this year and are living on a pretty small stipend. We were looking for somewhere cheap, but safe and nice. Our apartment is perfect. We got a spacious studio with hardwood floors and lots of windows. The only thing is lacks is counter space. It is extremely reasonably priced, and is like a three minute bike-ride from the Lake Front. It's close to a mall with a lot of great eating places like Chant, Native Foods, and Chipotle, and is a two-minute walk from public transportation. And best of all-ALL utilities are covered!
