As part of the Port of Boston, Everett is one of the principal cargo handling facilities -- especially for bulk cargo and petroleum.
A large section of the Revere Beach Parkway -- a historic route listed on the National Register of Historic Places -- is located in Everett. Work on the parkway began in 1896 and leads to Revere Beach, the nation's first public beach established in 1895.
