Property Ratings at Evergreen Ridge Apartments
I moved my Wife and 1 yr old daughter into the apartment right beside the Manager whom had run the complex for over 30 years. Everything was great. 3 years later she was let go, and we moved into our first home just 2 months after that. We gave the "New Manager" a 60-day notice, and even hired a cleaning team when we left to make it easy to move in anyone asap. We also left a table room set and living room set for any Veterans in need. 3 weeks after moving out we began to wonder where the Security Deposit was, and why it hadn't came. WE called 6 times leaving messages over 3 weeks, and finally got an answers saying they would have the check there to pick up. We then went to the Manager to get the deposit on the set date, his office was closed. We then came back 2 days in a row, as my Wife works at the VA hospital right in front. He was no where. 3 Weeks later after many more calls, we get a hold of NEWER management, saying he had been fired, they have no record of our notice, or that we even paid rent the last 2 months. After offering all the documents needs to prove so, they still fought us and said it's here / say when we actually left as the old Manager is gone and was the only one running the place. So now, we are legally having to file through lawyer to get a deposit back for our family rightfully owned. Lucky enough, I work at the DA office.
This place is old and not very well kept. Lots of major leaks due to old piping and deteriorating roof. More often than not you will find a fan blowing on some part of a hallway due to leaks. There is visible mold growing in parts of the buildings (usually on the carpet, some on the walls). The management seems unmotivated to make any changes/serious repairs. The owner 'inherited the problems' and is not motivated to make repairs. 2-3 person maintenance team that is unable to keep up with the needs of the buildings. Cheap rent but be weary of living here.
This is the perfect building if you want a quick walk to the VA hospital, it is located right behind it. There is a metro bus stop, a grocery store, a drug store, a post office, two fast food restaurants and a bar within walking distance, and a gas station just down the hill. The common areas include a small library/tv room which are well maintained. The apartments have elevators which are incredibly helpful. There is a courtyard with a pool, a grill with chairs and tables and a beautiful breath taking view of the Smoky Mountains. The light filled bedrooms feature an entire wall of 8 foot windows that maximize natural light, there are cream colored carpet and drapes in the bedroom and living room. High ceilings help to maximize storage because you can take storage right to the ceiling allowing for space in other areas, and small pets are accepted.
