Among Reading’s many vibrant attractions are GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, Reading Public Museum, Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, the Pagoda, and FirstEnergy Stadium—home of the minor-league Reading Fightin Phils. Opportunities for outdoor adventure abound, with a host of scenic parks and more than 125 miles of biking and hiking trails in Greater Reading.

Property Ratings at Exeter Village Apartments
The pool and gym weren’t open for their advertised hours for a single day during this period (obviously Covid explains some of that, but not all of it), and we weren’t refunded any of our (higher than average for the area) rent. Not having to pay for a gym membership and being able to access a pool were key factors in choosing Exeter Village over other renting options. The carpet was fringed at 2 particular edges when we moved in, with nails sticking up, so we reported it to them. We thought to ourselves, no big deal, it was just cut too short, we’ll be careful, and they’ll fix it. Fast forward to our move-out two years later, and not only was it never fix it, but they charged us for it. When I explained that I didn’t feel that was correct, because I reported the issue, and that’s a frequent issue when not installed properly. Exeter Village wasn’t able to do anything for us, and referred us to their parent company, Galman Group. The person that I was told to contact at Galman Group refused to answer all phone calls and return all voicemails over a two week period. This person only returned a single email, and never allowed me to explain the issue before never responding again. I was very nice and professional, but I feel like this is wrong, even if I wasn’t polite! They charged us for a carpet replacement when our carpet was in near-perfect condition. A professional carpet cleaning was scheduled, and would have left the carpet in perfect condition. Our washer needed to be replaced a few months after moving in. It violently rocked, denting the side-by-side dryer, the walls around it, ripping up the floor, and could easily be heard from outside. The washer even moved in front of the laundry room door from shaking, preventing the door from opening multiple times. It order to fix this, we had to dismantle the door. We went through all the bells and whistles about making sure the washer was evenly loaded and the feet were installed properly. Nothing resolved the issue. We were told it would be replaced, and it was never replaced. Finally, they would enter out apartment without notification FREQUENTLY! Sometimes they would send out emails, stating maintenance would be entering apartments on this date during this time window. They rarely came during the window. They usually didn’t send an email (or even a phone call) at all. This was especially frustrating while working from home and in a Zoom meeting with camera and microphones turned on.

Hi Justin, We are so sorry to see that you did not have a positive experience with us. If you'd like to discuss your experience further please contact our Guest Services Team at (610) 404-4450. Thank you!
Dont bother moving in here. Our upstairs neighbor is SUPER loud and management was informed and they said and I quote "What do you want me to do about it?" Informed management of issues and they were not addressed and I guarantee you they will try to take this out of our security deposit even though we reported it. These places are so overpriced. Look elsewhere because this community is NOT worth the money. Oh and the leasing office is rude and unhelpful. Also maintenance just lets themselves in with no warning, even though there is no emergency. It snowed and the maintenance guy "plowed" my boyfriend fell because it was still super icy and covered in snow and maintenance plowed our cars in and he is a mandatory worker who works a life or death job. If you love shoveling and dealing with snow DAYS later by all means, move in here.

We strive to provide all of our residents with a beautiful home and I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations. As always we wish you the best in your new home.

Why is it poor? Well you see the management, lead by Alisha, is not good. They are down right rude, actually. As I sit in my overpriced pad contemplating why I moved here, I listen to water drip from the ceiling to the carpet. “Why even catch it in a bucket?” I wonder. They don’t care, neither should I. Only a few more months. Anyone can do anything for a few months, I tell myself daily. During the summer months I can act like I wash my car at their ‘never-worked’ car wash or swim in the pool that doesn’t open till noon. Maybe I can rent the conference room in the main building, even though we already pay to be here. The whole place is ran by a corporation that doesn’t care and managed by the same type of people. Do yourself a favor and don’t live here.
