Less than twenty miles west of Washington on Interstate 66, Fairfax is a small suburban community that has become quite popular with DC-area commuters seeking a quiet home environment. Families love the quaint atmosphere, excellent public schools, and friendly neighbors. Local community festivals celebrating everything from Irish heritage to the arts to chocolate are always popular with the locals, and the city’s public parks, playgrounds, and walkable downtown district give folks ample opportunities to spend time outdoors.
The student body of neighboring George Mason University is actually larger than the entire population of Fairfax, and many students, faculty, and staff members call the city home—consequently, locals enjoy access to the attractions and resources of the campus as well as a unique blend of amenities catering to the college.

Property Ratings at Fairchase
I'm a resident of Fairfax looking for a new home. When calling today near 12:40pm on 09/12/2024 - whoever is on phone duty must be having a bad day. The person gave a very meek and awkward "Hi?" and didn't introduce himself in any manner. I had to ask if this was the correct phone number, followed by silence. All I could hear was whatever screen was playing in the background. If we were considering Fairchase, we are not anymore. Proper customer service is invaluable.
I lived at Fairchase apartments for 3 years and this community/staff was by far the best in the area, hence why I renewed by lease twice. I moved out of the area, however if I was staying I would've definitely renewed my lease a third time. The apartments are nice size, bigger than some in the area and the amenities are fairly new, stainless steel, granite counter tops, etc. The noise factor is not too bad for living in an apartment. The grounds are clean and lawn/facilities always maintained. The maintenance team is awesome! Whenever I had a problem, they were always there in a timely fashion and would check on me to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. The best part of living at Fairchase is the awesome staff! Jason is a wonderful property manager and is always professional/attentive/helpful, etc. His team is always willing to assist and are friendly. I will miss it at Fairchase and would highly recommend their property.
Really disappointed with the customer service today from the leasing office. Don’t bother walking in on the weekend, they only take appointments.
Property Manager at Fairchase, Responded To This Review
We are very sorry to hear that you feel this way but know that we appreciate your feedback. If you would like to share your experiences with management beyond the community team, we welcome you to contact Resident Relations at http://upload.equityapartments.com/. Thank you.
I have lived here for 9-1/2 years, literally since just a few months after the place opened. I moved into the apartment brand new, and I generally take care of things so I cannot complain at all about the quality or appearance of the interior. Everything still basically looks almost brand new. In 10 years I can say things have gone up and down quite a bit. The place has been changed at least two times to different property management companies. There have been several community managers. I have to say though, the current staff here has been around for a couple years now steadily and it is definitely the best team they have ever had here. If you take the time to actually stick around and chat with them, they are all very friendly. Having a good relationship with them rather than a hostile one also tends to help you out when it comes time to negotiate renewals. The maintenance staff has also been pretty steadily the same people for a few years now and most issues are fixed the same day, or at most by the next day. When the microwave broke, they had a brand new one installed by the next day. The property is generally clean and well maintained. However, this is an apartment building. People who are complaining about trash left in the trash rooms, the community does not have cameras installed and cannot police every person. I have literally seen them though when trash is left in the rooms going through the bag to figure out who did it so they can be fined. They do the best they can considering the property has something close to 300 units. Also, people complaining that a trash room smells bad? Seriously? Along those same lines, this is a large community and there will be ignorant people. You will have people living on all sides of you. The construction is mostly concrete, so it is quieter than many places I have lived but if you are looking for dead silence then an apartment is not for you. I am not sure what else I can say, for apartment living I cannot imagine it getting much better than this community. If you are in the market for a place, the staff here right now is absolutely the best it has ever been in the last 10 years.
I am moving out of state in a couple weeks, and I will miss living here. The staff is awesome! They are responsive, know who you are, and genuinely nice people. They stick around too, so it must be a good place to work for. My wonderful sales associate-Jake-is still here after 3 years. I don't see that many other places. I am an older person not big on lots of noise, but luckily none of that occurs here. The apartments are quiet, clean, and it's wonderful having a parking structure, especially during ice and snow events. Maintenance is very responsive. I have put in only a couple requests over the years and they took care of it right away. The apartments also have some style, with arched doorways and lovely fireplaces. It's also just down the street from a 14-screen movie theater as well as restaurants and shopping. That is perhaps 1/4 mile away, definitely within walking distance. I highly recommend Fairchase.-------Anne
I am writing this review because I need to warn people about Fairchase. Unfortunately, there are so many terrible things to say about this property. I will start with the biggest problem, the fees and charges are ridiculous. I lived at Fairchase for one year and after one year they increased my rent by about $160. While living at Fairchase, they make you purchase your own lightbulbs for most of the fixtures in the apartment including kitchen, dining room, bedroom, and bathrooms. You will also have to shampoo the carpet and paint the walls when you move out. Make sure you mark everything you see on your move-in inspection form, and don't believe anything management says. I was lied to by the manager and told I did not have to paint if my father patched the little holes from nails and screws in the walls. Then the manager took $98 from my security deposit because he said my father's patch work was too big. Can you believe that?! I put a complaint in to Equity Residential and they did nothing at all to remedy the situation. In addition, we had little brownish/red bugs crawling around our bathrooms and kitchen (still don't know what they were). Also, the garage door and some of the gates powered by key fobs are constantly broken. One morning there was about a 15 car back up in the garage because the door was broken. Disgusting residents leave their trash piled up in the trash shoot room (how hard is it to push your trash down the trash shoot). One last thing is the walls are thin and you can hear almost everything that goes on in the next apartment. For these reasons I will never rent with an Equity Residential property in the future.
Mixed feelings about this apartment but over all it is a nice place to live. If you don't mind a little noise from your neighbors then it could be perfect for you. Brand new appliances and pretty garden.
first of all, so nice environment and neighborhood. also close to huge park and attraction. lots of bus and metro route(include weekends) for convenience. above all office staffs are so kindless. finally, i strongly recommand this apartment for everyones.
This apartment is just terrific. It has everything we need and the apartments are huge with a reasonable price. It also offers rent to equity option which is great for future home purchases.
I'm quite happy with my apartment. I had to get used to apartment living again, but Fairchase has made it very easy. I find the leasing and maintenance staff to be very friendly and accommodating. They take pride in keeping the community clean and safe.
