Wedged between Hempstead and Levittown, the hamlet of East Meadow provides easy access to the rest of Long Island and nearby New York City. It is home to the Nassau University Medical Center, the vast Eisenhower Park, and the East Meadow Mall. At the center of East Meadow, the town square provides benches and walking paths beneath shade trees, along with a swimming pool and a gazebo.
Directly west of East Meadow, on the other side of the Meadowbrook State Parkway, Nassau Community College and Hofstra University are readily available. East Meadow is very walkable and offers access to mass transit. East Meadow's name dates back to 1655, when it was determined that the "east meadow" would be great for grazing. While you won't find many farms or grazing livestock in East Meadow today, it is still a very green, tree-filled area. While it is mostly residential, the Hempstead Bethpage Turnpike, where the mall is located, is lined with shops, restaurants, bakeries, and other businesses.

Property Ratings at Fairfield Square at East Meadow
Maintenance very quick to respond. Very quite neighbors. Yes, spider crickets, however, I checked that the area is known to have alot of spider crickets. In 1 year I only spotted 3. No roaches, rodents, or any other creatures. Heating and AC responded as soon as changing the setting. Loved the ceiling fan- great for the summer. If they need to shut off the water to work they leave a note many days in advance. Very clean. Grass is cutt 3x a week and thats the only time it is noisy. I found it very annoying. Washing machine and dryer came in handy. Very slow with removing snow and Ice. I fell 3x . Once on my way to the trash and 2x at my car. Maintenance and management very friendly. Neighbors are friendly. If you want somewhere quite and clean this is your place. Wish i would have found this place sooner.
I’ve been living here for a month and a half and this experience has been very unpleasant. The staff doesn’t clean and worst of all, THE BUILDING IS INFESTED WITH BUGS (spider crickets in my experience). When I tell the maintenance team or management, they tell me to wait until the end of the month for an exterminator to come. I’ve counted 13 crickets in my apartment alone in just a month and a half and today I had to spend $320 on my own exterminator. To give you a better sense of how disgusting this place is, even after the exterminator came, I found another cricket in my apartment. I’ve lived in various places including NYC and never experienced such poor management. No one seems to care about you after you sign the lease. They take absolutely NO CARE of the interior of the building. I would not recommend living here to anyone out there that is actively searching. I often question why I’m paying the rate that I am. There are ZERO amenities. The laundry room is also gross and an additional monthly expense.
I cannot emphasize enough how much this place has deteriorated. When it was Heritage Square, we had friendly and responsive managers and maintenance. Now, the leasing office is never open, the grounds aren't kept clean, my apartment is falling apart and not a single maintenance request of mine has been responded to, and they closed the majority of the parking lot with so little notice, and don't reopen it at night, like they said they would. They're super rude if you're a resident, too. I called to request a pin to make a new rent payment account, and was told to use my brain when I asked a question. I'm actually asking to cut my lease short because I can't deal with this place anymore. it's not even in a convenient spot, either, because you can't walk to anything. You can also hear everyone, including huge dogs (one of whom has tried to attack multiple residents) at all hours of the night. I hate it here.
Property Manager at Fairfield Square at East Meadow, Responded To This Review
Exciting changes are coming to Fairfield Square At East Meadow. When an Apartment Community is acquired, there is sometimes a transition period when renovations are being made- such as what the residents are currently experiencing. Fairfield Properties takes pride in the apartment homes that our residents live in – we take pride in the aesthetic of our communities and to that end, the community is undergoing some cosmetic changes. The parking lot is receiving a Paving Project, and while it is never our goal to inconvenience our residents, sometimes the weather dictates our progress- in this case, because of heavy rain, the project was paused- but scheduled for forward progress – paving and striping - as early as today. We would like to say to the residents who are feeling inconvenienced by the work in progress, we hope that in the end, you will enjoy the beautification project(s) that are in place so that you can feel pride in your home. We thank all our residents for their understanding of the circumstances and want to say a special thank you to the residents who baked delicious cookies for the on-site Service team (the same team that has been in place, some of whom have been representing that community for thirty years) and the Team from North Shore Paving. The gesture was lovely, and the cookies were delicious!!!
