Fairhaven, a National Historic District, began as Fairhaven Village around 1880. It is located along Bellingham Bay on the southwest side of Western Washington University. Fairhaven is a terrific location for boaters, home to San Jan Cruises, Zodiac Sailing Schooner, and the Fairhaven Shipyard. Marine Park, located on the bay, includes a picnic area and a beach for launching kayaks. The Lower Padden Creek and Larrabee Trail leads from the park, through Fairhaven, and toward Larrabee State Park.
With its Victorian architecture, art galleries and boutiques, restaurants, pubs, and cafes, Fairhaven is a charming, fun-filled, walkable district. Fairhaven holds events year-round, including the Polar Bear Plunge at Birch Bay in January, the Recreation Northwest Expo in February, the Spring Craft & Antique Show in March, Bellingham Beer Week in April, to the Bellingham Festival of Music and the Northwest Raspberry Festival in July.

Property Ratings at Fairhaven Park
I've lived in this place for 4 years and it gets worse every year. 3 years ago, they ripped out all the plants in front of the building. I assumed it was to replant. It wasn't. They left bare dirt in its place. Since then, the building looks like a poorly maintained 2-star hotel. The place also has known drainage issues to the point where the clothes in my closet and the inside of every cabinet in the kitchen gathers visible mold. Not to mention the inside of the dishwasher, which is black with it. I spend $30/month in DampRid pots just to keep the place barely habitable. The customer service isn't any better than the appearance. The office has taken to sending emails to all tenants with a scolding, petulant tone that borders snotty, taking out the complaints of a few residents on the entire community. I know customer service is a lost art, but there's no reason to behave the way this staff does. They treat tenants like we're all the enemy, whether we deserve the attitude or not. Fairhaven is a great part of town and new apartments are going up every year. If you're going to pay Fairhaven prices, I'd recommend finding a building that's worth the rent. This place isn't.
Property Manager at Fairhaven Park, Responded To This Review
Dear Resident, we appreciate your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you have not been having a positive experience in our community, as we value the comfort and well-being of our residents. We strive to provide prompt, professional service at all times, and we're sorry that we've fallen short of your expectations. The bushes we removed were invading the foundations and water lines with their roots, so we removed them as a preventative measure. Our maintenance team works diligently to efficiently fulfill all requests, so please don't hesitate to reach out regarding areas that may need some attention. We'd like the opportunity to speak with you in greater detail, so at your earliest convenience please contact us at customercare@suhrco.com. -The Fairhaven Park Team
I’ve lived here for over 15 years and never want to move! Maintenance is very quick to fix things. Management is helpful and friendly. Outdoor spaces are kept up daily.
I have lived at Fairhaven Park Apartments for 18 years and moving here was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The buildings are spaced far from each other which you don't find in modern complexes. When I need service on the unit, they often respond in the same day and always in one day. The grounds are professionally maintained and always cared for. The walls might be made of concrete. I am not sure but I would never know from sounds that I wasn't completely alone here. I cannot say enough about the staff. They are really good people. You can't do better in Bellingham.
