Property Ratings at Fennwoode Property LP
Living at Fennwoode is like staying at a cottage resort, except this is one holiday I never have to leave! The staff are incredibly friendly, proactive and so very kind - all my maintenance needs are addressed immediately and even before they become issues! The home itself is immaculately clean, very well maintained and safe. I feel supported and protected at every step. This is not my first renting experience, but is by FAR the best!
I was tempted to mark this as a 4 star instead of 5 to not seem biased. I'm always hesitant when I see only 5 star reviews on anything. That said Fenn-Woode deserved the 5. I lived there in a 2 bedroom apartment for 2.5 years, and had zero issues the whole way through. The property is landscaped routinely, the pool is always clean, and it's an all around serene sight to see. Lots of trees, a fountain at the center, picnic tables, and grills with propane hooked up and ready. The look of the apartment interior was solid, with the only small negative being the kitchen. And even then it's just an aesthetic critique, not functionality (it's not the most modern cabinet/counter top combo). Getting a hold of the maintenance folks is never a problem, and they're quick to fix any issues you may have. All of them are friendly, and most of them are conversational; one was nice enough to give me a ride up the hill to my car in his golf cart on my last day. Occasionally the sauna will break down in the pool house (who can complain when you have one in the first place), and we were never able to get our intercom to buzz open the door, but we also never called them to fix it. Laundry was something like $1.60 per load, but it was all done through a re-loadable laundry card which is far better than fishing for quarters every week. I also never really ran into access problems despite there only being two washers and dryers for my building. The estimates they will give you for average electricity bill are in my opinion generous. The units have central air (heat and AC) so keeping it temperate in summer or winter can get pricey on the electric bill. The master bedroom is enormous, and the second bed was standard/fair. The living room was similarly large, and kitchen was moderately sized; a good amount of counter space, tons of cabinets, but not very wide so it gets cramped if two people are cooking. Most important of all, the price just can't be beat. For a huge 2 bedroom 1.5 bath you're paying the same price as a tiny one bedroom in West Hartford. Plus you won't find anything cheaper that has a pool, sauna, and tennis court. There is a Stop & Shop on the same road, a gym directly across the street, and Target/Best Buy/Trader Joes/Old Navy/Total Wine/West-farms Mall/anything else you'll need is a 3 minute drive away Highly recommend the place; if I need an apartment in the area again I'd happily go back.
Property Manager at Fennwoode Property LP, Responded To This Review
Thank you so much for the 5-star review. We will make sure that the intercom is fixed prior to the new resident moving in. We did have issues with the sauna and it took a while to correct but the saunas are working properly now. We have also renovated the pool house where the saunas are. Fennwoode provides your water usage but; you are responsible for your electric utility bill. The furnace is an electric hot air furnace which you control with a central thermostat. Because it is hot air there is ductwork and that is why central air conditioning is available. The hottest summer months and the coldest winter months can bring in higher electric bills. The best thing to do is ask your electricity supplier to place you on a fixed average amount for every month. That way you can expect the same average charge every month. Your electric bill will include heat, hot water, central air conditioning, lights, television, cooking and anything you plug in. The highest average for the electric utility bill in a two bedroom apartment should average no more than $185.00 every month. The large one bedroom style apartment average should be $165.00 and the small one bedroom/studio apartments would average $145.00 every month for the utility bill. We wish you well and would love to have you back here at Fennwoode anytime. Regards, Mary Jean Jones Leasing Manager
This is the place to live if you want an excellent, quiet, well maintained apartment. Staff is extremely friendly and always helpful. Sam, Sean and Mary-Jean go above and beyond to make your experience at Fenn-Woode amazing. Highly recommend!!
I enjoyed living at Fenn-Woode. Everything was well maintained including common areas. Management was attentive and very professional. Neighbors were polite and considerate. I would still be living there if I didn't find a place to purchase.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our two years at Fenn-Woode. Everything about the apartment and the management was excellent and living there was the best rental experience we had, anywhere. We left only because we bought a house. Nearly two years later, I purchased an item online which the seller mistakenly shipped to my old (Fenn-Woode) address. Mary Jean showed up at my door, at my house, in a different town, to personally deliver the item to me. Even years later, I'm still continuing to be impressed. Thank you!
My wife and I lived in a studio for 13 months and really enjoyed it. We had a cozy apartment with plenty of space and a vaulted ceiling. The appliances and cabinets were all brand new. Mary Jean in the leasing office was very helpful and the maintenance staff was by far the best of any apartment complex I've ever lived in (and I've lived in a lot). The very few issues that needed to be fixed or addressed were done so promptly. The units themselves are well designed with floor plans that maximize usable space. The complex is in a very quiet area and kept in pristine condition. There are plenty of community gas grills available for use. 10 minutes or less to West Hartford center, Blue Back Square, and the Westfarms Mall. Big Sky gym is right across the street. Easy access to route 9 is great too. We highly recommend Fenn-Woode. I'm very picky about where I live and I have nothing bad to say about this place. We're moving to California, but we'd happily stay here if we weren't.
Property Manager at Fennwoode Property LP, Responded To This Review
Thank you so much for your review. Fenn-Woode wishes you good luck in California.
I moved into my one-bedroom apartment at Fenn-Woode in the summer of 2013, and I've never second-guessed the decision. Looking for a new apartment is always a daunting task, and like many, I've often been skeptical of online reviews. But Fenn-Woode's high praise is well-earned. I first met with Fenn-Woode's leasing agent, Mary Jean, a few months prior to the expiration of my previous lease. She was pleasant, welcoming and accommodating (and has been for the duration of my entire tenure). She showed me a renovated one-bedroom unit that had already been reserved, and I was placed on a wait list, which I took as a good sign (the demand wouldn't be high without a reason). Luckily, another one-bedroom opened up in time for June, and I couldn't be happier. My apartment is considered a large one-bedroom at 750 square feet (there are other one-bedrooms and studios at 650 square feet and two-bedrooms at 950). My monthly rent has remained $925 through three separate leases now, which is a nice change from other places. My apartment included new carpeting and a completely renovated bathroom. There are 11 buildings that make up the Fenn-Woode community, which is beautifully maintained throughout the year. There is a community swimming pool, tennis court and three gas grills for cooking. There is also a community garden at the back end of the property, which is open to all tenants for growing vegetables and flowers. Each apartment includes a deck or patio area (if on ground level). Mary Jean is always a joy, and the maintenance team (Sam, in particular) are helpful and quick to respond to requests. Also of note, the staff has its own snow plow, which is incredibly important in the winter. Fenn-Woode's only entrance/exit is a small but steep hill off of Fenn Road, so I was concerned with the constant snow and ice during winters. I can honestly say I've never once had an issue getting up or down the hill. They also offer garages for cars (for an additional monthly fee), and have an "early-riser" list, so they can plow around your car in the morning for work. I can't speak for everyone in Fenn-Woode, but in my particular building, my neighbors have been great. Most of them keep to themselves, and I've never had any noise issues. I am in my late 20s and I seem to be one of the younger tenants in the community. I only plan to leave Fenn-Woode if and when I move out of Connecticut. It has been worth every penny, and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Fennwoode is a set of cozy apartments conveniently located on top of a hill, making it a quiet living environment. It is centrally located between the West Hartford and the Newington town centers. They offer an array of amenities, including a sauna, a summer pool and a lighted tennis court. They are common grills and picnic areas that are great for any sunny day. Their onsite friendly maintenance staff have a fully equipped work shop, and staff available 24 hrs a day, on call if needed. They do a great job snow plowing in the winter, even tending to their residents' unique schedule by providing an early- bird option. I've had a great experience here, the Fennwoode team has gone out of their way to make this a pleasant living environment.
We recently moved to Fenn-Woode, it is different than other complexes, to start with, it's not commercial! The area is calm, neat, we'll taken care of. The leasing staff are v helpful, you get what they tell you, even more than less! "Mary Jane" is certainly an asset there! The Sq footage is about 1000, yet it is wisely done to benefit from every corner. They are mostly 2 bedroom appartments, the rooms have a full wall of closet space up to the ceiling, a good size living/dining room area, two bathrooms, a v clean kitchen with lots of cabinets and the storage area in the basement is a big plus. The laundry facility is in the basement too, but it's well kept. There is a nice outdoor swimming pool and a tennis court, lots of picnic areas.. the area is wooded, yet well maintained. There is 2 assigned parking spots and few well marked visitors spots. Above all, it seems to be very safe, especially if you have kids, and is not far from downtown hartford 10 min without traffic (20 min during rush time). We have recently moved as I started saying, but there doesn't seem to be any flags.. the neighbors we spoke to speak highly of the place. Good luck!
A beautiful and serene setting describes the property at Fenn-Woode Apartments. The perfect location for those seeking a quiet residential community that provides the convenience of an apartment setting. Fenn-Woode is located near shopping, public transportation and minutes from the highway. The best part of living in Fenn-Woode is its unique community. One of the perks to consider at Fenn-Woode is the super friendly staff who are quick to respond to one’s needs. Besides great service, this well maintained community offers amenities such as tennis court, pool and picnic area with grill available for residents.
Fenn Woode is a great place to live and would highly recommend it!
Search no further for a wonderful place to call home. At Fenn-Woode apartments, you will not only be happy but also feel at peace. We moved here in 2009 and could not be happier with our choice. The apartments are very spacious. The grounds are beautiful and meticulously kept. The staff is very attentive. Parking is plentiful and well lit, so that reaching ones car is easy and convenient. In the summer months, you can enjoy a great game of tennis or relax and cool down by the pool. For those that enjoy walking, the beautiful grounds offer enough of a walking area that will satisfy your exercise needs while at the same time providing a feeling of tranquility, so that not only are you achieving physical wellness, but also mind and body harmony. In the winter months, you can stop by the office and enjoy a cup of coffee and if in the mood for reading, you can easily borrow a book from the collection of books that tenants and staff have graciously donated. In addition to their open door policy, the staff is very attentive to snow removal, when they are promptly and very early in the morning attending to the grounds in order to guarantee our safety and that of any visitors. Fenn-Woode a place you can truly call home!
I've lived at Fenn Woode Apartments for over a year and have enjoyed my time here. The location is fantastic - very close to Route 9 and I-84, so convenient for everything to the west or south of Hartford, as well as longer trips across the state. It's also about a 2-minute drive from Stop and Shop. The complex itself is located up a hill, away from the main road, so it's relatively quiet and secluded. The apartments themselves are fairly clean - the fixtures and appliances are fairly new, but are clearly at the bottom of their product lines. Electric heat is expensive in the winter. If you're used to paying for A/C in CT summers, expect your electric bill to be over double in winter - we had a bill for $230 one month (2br). That being said, the A/C is central, not a weak wall-mount or window-mount unit, so the A/C is pretty nice. Management is nice enough. I've never had an issue with them, so maybe that puts them above average. They actually let me sublet my second room out for the summer to a friend. My neighbors are all fairly quiet. The carpets do a good job isolating noise, but expect to be able to hear someone talking directly above or below you in the kitchen (laminate floors). Overall, the apartments are "luxurious" in the sense that they're priced a little above average for the area. But you get what you pay for, and the location is worth it.
Living at Fenn Woode has been a great experience this far. My boyfriend and I have lived here for about two years and can't say enough great things. The apartments are well maintained and the staff are friendly. Things are always fixed in a timely fashion. The rent is reasonable and the apartment complex is in a great location. Residents are quiet and nice. The pool and tennis court are great. Highly recommend this apartment complex. Come check it out and maybe you will be our new neighbor!
I have lived here for a few years and really like it...the staff are great and things are well maintained...reasonably priced and in a good location...only down side is no washer and dryer in apartment...otherwise it's great!
I have been living at Fenn Woode for a year now. It is a very clean and well maintained apartment. I love the ambiance. The staff is wonderful
I have lived at Fenn Woode for almost two years and it is a great place to live...it is kept clean and the pool is great...the staff are wonderful and things are always fixed quickly...the grounds are well maintained...very quiet and friendly residents...I would highly recommend the apt complex to anyone interested in living here!
This is the perfect building if you want a quick access to fast track bus line directly to the Hartford down town area, great restaurants, clubs bars and outdoor space for your family. The property is well maintained and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Unlike other apartments in this area, it has a large pick nick area, tennis courtyard with a pool, lounge chairs. It’s like having a touch of nature right in your back yard and most of all you are second from the shopping centers and major freeways connectors to give you easy access to and from work.
At the top of King Arthur Way in Newington, CT sets Fenn-Woode Apartments in the midst of beautiful trees, a swimming pool, tennis court, picnic area, garden spaces, laundry areas, garages, private parking spaces and 12 picturesque dwellings with spacious living quarters. Definitely a resort area to call home with a place for you and your loved ones to live, laugh, and love. A caring and efficient staff takes pleasure in keeping Fenn-Woode an attractive and efficient establishment.
The Fenn-Woode Apartments in Newington represent good value for the money. They are well-maintained and if something should break, it is fixed very quickly. Maintenance also does a good job clearing the snow during the winter so residents can get to work on time. There are amenities such as a pool and tennis court and the administration is pretty good at keeping up with technology such as a charging station for electric cars. Perhaps most importantly, the residences are quiet allowing one to live normally. Finally, in addition to a courteous and helpful staff and administration, Fenn-Woode is conveniently located near trendy restaurants and shopping.
I have been living here since June of 2014. Newly renovated apartments, really clean. Even the corridors are cleaned regularly which keeps the entire community clean. The office staff are very nice. They help out immediately usually under 24 hours for any matter. The best apartment I have lived in Newngton,CT
