Uptown is where Greenville comes to play. The Uptown District is filled with art galleries, breweries, theaters, and events like First Friday Artwalks. It is also part of the Pitt County Brew & 'Cue Trail, which highlights places like Bum's Restaurant, Pitt Street Brewing Company, the Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery, Sam Jones BBQ, and Uptown Brewing Company. For those who appreciate art and culture, Uptown is home to the Greenville Museum of Art, Emerge Gallery, the Music House, the Wright School of Music, and the Music Academy of Eastern Carolina.
At the north end of Uptown Greenville, the Town Common is a gathering spot for community events. Located along the Tar River, this picturesque park is home to the Greenville Toyota Amphitheater, the Town Common Inclusive Playground, a riverfront esplanade, a boat ramp, paved trails, and the Millennium Sundial. The Uptown District begins along the northwest side of East Carolina University and is a popular destination for students.

Property Ratings at First Street Place
Good location, nice staff, and maintenance is pretty fast too. I’ve been here since august and I’ve already renewed. The price is decent, and they have events sometimes too. The only inconvenience is the washing machine, it’s kinda small. Might want to invest in a wagon or a personal cart the hill is kinda steep and it’ll be helpful bringing stuff in.
As a student this is located in the best place ever it’s in walking distance of downtown and the buses come straight to the door for you to go school. Management is great and get everything fix quickly!
I love living here it’s an amazing environment. The audio are gray for people who want to live alone. They have free parking, printing and the gym is great to workout in!
Love this place. The community is great and it’s not far from campus at all! The leasing office has many opportunities for residents to get together and have competitions for prizes.
I love it here. The view of the river is amazing.

Since the first day here they have always been helpful! The staff is always friendly to me and I never have had a problem with packages. FSP also has the lowest rate for a studio if you want to live by yourself which is also great. This should be in your hunting list!

I have had the best experience I could have asked for at First Street Place. The staff is great, the maintenance is fast with fulfilling maintenance requests, and the property is always clean. I have heard horror stories from other properties in the area so I am thrilled that I chose to live at First Street Place!

First Street has been the best place I have lived in my experience in Greenville as a student. The front office staff recognizes and forms relationships with their residents. Everything is very organized & maintenance addresses all issues usually the next day! The apartments are so clean and I love the high ceilings!

First the stacked washer and dryer are so small, loud, you have to wash comforters and such at the laundry mat which can take time out of your day and also $6 for a washing machine. The parking is kinda awful but isn't much you can do about that scenario, better purchase a wagon for groceries (comes in handy). Had a major bug issue during move in, seems to be not be as bad now, so thats a good thing.

If you’re looking for a place to stay while attending school, FSP is the cheapest studio I could find. It’s also nice that the shuttle comes directly to the complex and they do resident events frequently.

This apartment complex has become pricy for what you get. The rooms are a decent size but the closets are very small. Mikayla and Margaret are the best at the front, they are always very friendly. The maintenance team is one of the best things about the complex, they are always very fast and friendly.

The frequency of roaches in this apartment complex is insane. Everyone deals with roaches every once in a while, but the sheer quantity of roaches here is horrific. They've sent terminix over and over while I've obsessively cleaned everything over and over and yet the roaches don't stop. The back doors which open to the outside aren't sealed properly allowing for all the roaches from around tar river to come in, and despite the clear infestation FSP acts like it's no biggie. It's a shame because everything else is fantastic here, but living in fear because you see a roach every day isn't worth it.

Thank you for your feedback. It is our goal is to provide the best possible service and we are truly sorry that your experience is less than satisfactory. Last year we increased our service contract with our pest control provider to ensure all of our units get treated on a monthly rotation to avoid issues with infestations and it has been confirmed by our pest control professionals at Terminix that our building is not infested. If a resident notices an issue with increased activity we can take further steps to clear up the issues besides the normal monthly spray, such as baiting in the unit, which can take up to two weeks to take full effect but will kill pest at their source, and using a bug fogger in the unit, which will require a resident to be out for a period of time while the fogger take effect. We will also check and treat the surrounding units to ensure the issue is not coming form the uncleanliness of another unit. We made repairs to all of our balcony door units back in 2017, however if you are noticing an issue coming from the seal on your balcony our team is happy to put a work order in for you to see what can be done to reinforce the frame to ensure there is no issue with bugs being able to get in. We would love the chance to talk with you about all of your options so please reach out to our office at 252-227-4644 or email our Community Manager, Margaret Storm, at cm@livefirststreet.com at your earliest convivence.

Though this apartment complex may be dated it’s an amazing experience to be a resident. The management is extremely friendly. They host events almost every other week where you have the chance to engage with peers and earn prices. The units are also quit relaxing as well as comfortable. I highly recommend considering this apartment when thinking of where to sign a lease next

I've lived here for a total of 7 years now and I absolutely love it! Not only am I within walking distance to campus but they also have a bus which is super convenient on days where the weather is not so great or I wake up late. They upgraded the gym a few years ago and it is one of my favorite things to use. The units themselves are also super spacious and everything was clean and in good condition when I moved in. The only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because the walls are a little bit on the thin side but the staff has been super responsive anytime I have brought up an issue. Overall it's one of the better places to stay in Greenville.

My roommate and I are approaching the end our lease...FINALLY! This complex has a horrible roach and water-bug infestation. On a typical day, you will wake up to several dead ones on your floor (as the complex does spray— although it seems to only momentarily help) once you cut the lights on— they scurry into hiding, hopefully you don’t accidentally step on one using the restroom in the middle of the night (as I have)! If you are touring, make sure to go into the basement level, usually home to 5-10 dead and alive roaches at any given time. The pool has never actually been opened while we have lived here. The amenities are extremely outdated. The complex is marketed as “student living” yet several senior citizens are residents, making two college-aged girls uneasy when coming and going. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this apartment any less. *The office staff is very kind and cannot help they live / work in a horrible complex. Cons: Roaches Outdated amenities Safety concerns Unsanitary Pros: Proximity to campus Kind office staff Cheap

Do not go on the tours either because they will feed you lies. They will say, "Oh yea we have that, and this", don't listen to that because, whatever it is, it does not work. Trust me do not stay here I would have rated it a zero star if I could. *
Just moved my daughter into First Street Place this weekend. Looks nice on the outside, but wait for the inside. We both were afraid to fall asleep because the roaches kept coming into her apartment. The more we killed them, the more we had to kill. She was so excited about moving here; talked about it all summer. That excitement has completely gone away. It was a horrible experience. My suggestion, have the management fumigate the apartment before you move in. She told the management office yesterday, their response was, it will be next week. Who wants to live in a roach infested apartment for a week? I can cry...horrible!!!

Negatives: high price, parking is awful, maintenance sucks, lots of random fees, hallways smell bad, neighbors are noisy and office wont do anything about it, train comes by every few hours and is loud, gym is very dated and half of machines are broken, dog poop everywhere outside, roaches are terrible, laundry machines in unit are awful and don't work right.... should I continue?
Where do I begin..... First I would like to say the staff is horrible. They do not communicate the same information to each other, so often times questions I had were answered differently. I did not sign my lease. I was forced to sign. I was told to browse their site by a staff member, Thomas I believe, after my tour, which was horrible too, which I am getting to. I was told to browse their site and create a profile. I did that. 4 days later I get an email that if I do not sign my lease in 3 days, my credit would be hit for an entire 12 months worth of rent because I "electrically signed" the online profile. Now, I get a lot of times we click and fill out info without reading and I had not truly made my mind up about staying here, so I called the office. They told me "oh it is a mistake, we are currently upgrading our systems" by one staff member. An asian guy. 3 days later I get an email and a call from Amy or Anne, the site manager saying that because I did not sign or pay the deposit that they were starting the process of eviction and forfeiting my lease...... I didn't live there or physically sign anything....... I lost it with her over the phone. She told me to come in that afternoon and she could hear me out in person. When I got there, I was greeted by a girl with horribly drawn on eyebrows who was very rude. The sad thing is another guy was there for the same reason! And theroughtout the year I saw this trend. Anne or Amy of course was not in so I was stuck talking to the eyebrow girl. I was actually calmed down because a friend of mine said "hey maybe living there will not be that bad. it is only 5 minutes from the hospital." So at that point, I was
I've lived in Greenville for 3 years now throughout college, in three separate apartment complexes and let me tell you, First Street Place is the best place I have lived so far. Pros: The building is very modern and very well maintained. The pool is always sparkling, the grass and flower beds are always trimmed and the hallways are always pretty clean for having 2,000 people walking in them daily. It feels like you are living in a hotel by the way the building is set up and the elevators are definitely a plus! I don't know about you but I've always loved hotels! The apartments themselves are also nice. With every apartment you get nice laminated countertops that resemble granite, they are spacious with ample cooking space, all of the kitchen ware is polished black and the cabinets are a nice dark brown. Another plus in the apartment is the carpet. Normally, I wouldn't mention the carpet however, unlike the cheap beige colored carpet in most student living apartments the carpet at First Street is a darker multicolored short carpet perfect for hiding stains. Cons: the only downside to living here is the parking, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. If you do not want to pay 480 dollars extra a year for premium parking you are forced to park down a hefty hill in one of two lots. If you get here late at night the first lot ( closer) one is often full so you are forced to park in the back lot. Being a young woman, I often am a little sketched out about the walk from an open lot in the middle of downtown greenville walking up to an apartment( and it is quite a hike) but other then that I have nothing negative to say. All in all, this is a great place to live!
Apartments inculde all utilities and cable. There are about 100 cable channels which are pretty good channels. Rooms are kind of small, but the bathroom is huge. The closet is also small.
First month: so far so good. Young atmosphere, many amenities (included ALL utilities cable internet electric water) washer/dryer in unit, dishwasher, furnishings optional! for a price lower than other comparable apartment buildings. Free gym, tanning booth, computer center with printer, and nice salt water pool with grill. Four stories with multiple elevators. Vending machines. Post office and bank also across the street. Great location in uptown district, cute shops and restaurants couple blocks away, huge park across the street. Cons: cleanliness could be better, lots of doggies in the place so need to look out for wet spots in hallways and smelly stairwells. Seems like costs are kept low by employing student staff to clean=not so skilled at cleaning. Tiny closet! Enough said. Parking: not so convenient and extra fee required for good spots. Train tracks close by: trains with loud horns blaring are infrequent but noticeable.
