Located in central Connecticut, this neighborhood of homes and rentals sits midway between Hartford to the north and New Haven to the south, a 30-minute commute in both directions via highway or the Amtrak rail system. History buffs love the number of National Register of Historical Places in this town, including the former Meriden Curtain Fixture Company factory, a sprawling red brick building converted into the Charles Street Place Apartments.
Outdoor spaces also hold historical landmark status, such as the world-renowned 1,800-acre Hubbard Park from the designers of New York's Central Park. Meriden provides 24 municipal parks, one of the top 10 public golf courses in Connecticut, and three dedicated trails for hiking, biking, and running.
Residents gather at the award-winning Ted's Restaurant, an area staple for over 50 years and home to the first steamed cheeseburger.

Property Ratings at Flats at 390
Its bad enough that I had to live here but its even worse that they took down my review the day after posting. Cons; Your car will get broken into, the leasing office is no help and close when they want to, the maintenance crew is rude and unprofessional, your toilet and shower will constantly not work and oh yeah your car will get broken into yay!
I find it extremely disturbing that we have a pool and have not been notified about entering in to enjoy it. It’s been closed for almost 2 years. I find it weird that the cover of the pool is off but you still CAN’T GET IN IT? You wouldn’t have residence trying to sneak in it if you would be consistence to get it open for us. As a resident of a year and a half management has done nothing for us. The LEAST you could do is open up the pool for the remaining parts of the summer, rather than allowing it to be open as if this is an untouchable artifact from a high end museum. I also find it unprofessional that management is not on site like a normal leasing office should be. As a paying, on time type of resident, I expect better hence the increase of rent. Our money doesn’t seem like it’s being allocated properly. No one tends to the maintenance for the outside grounds, and the person that was here that was making the entry of the complex clean is no longer doing it. I’m making an assumption here that she doesn’t work here anymore. The point is if you’re looking to move here and you see a pool and IA decorations don’t bother.
I moved here with my two daughters about 6 months ago and the property is getting fixed and fast. Not only are they adding a movie theatre and gym in the pool is also opening up . I can see the guys fixing it daily . It’s a very quiet and safe neighborhood for my children and I . The property manager and all staff have been More than helpful . Maintenance any time something goes wrong is there by the end of the day getting it fixed! I can’t say much of anything bad about them!
My family & I live here now and we couldn’t be more disappointed. This place has stunned & baffled me. They have staff that works 5 days a week but for the life of me I can’t figure out what they do. I’m also convinced that the previous two comments were fake. I’ve never been greeted by any of the staff ever. (Not even a hello) When submitting tickets they just randomly close them without resolve. They claimed to have pest control but that’s never happened. Also there aren’t any amenities unless you count the free wifi in the common area ore the microwave & miniature stainless steel refrigerator. The rent is too high for a place that sells you on hopes and dreams. The pool has been closed for about 2 years now, the grounds aren’t kept clean, the dumpsters overflow rather often. I’ve seen litter sit on the grounds and common areas for months at a time. While having staff sit in the office doing whatever they do. The central air is included in your rent but may not always work correctly & the unit may or may not be cable ready, it’s a gamble. The prices on this site is NOT what you will pay, and they will not honor it in most cases. The neighborhood isn’t bad and it’s very close to the highway. That’s the positives. There are always positives. If the company gives use the supposed amenities without raising the prices I’d love it here. Promised Amenities: Movie Room Gym Pool w/ hot tub Basketball court (right now it’s beat to hell) Manicured lawn. - To name a few.

Hello, We are very sorry to hear you have not had a great experience thus far. Please note, the property is under new management. Your concerns are important to us. We would love to meet with you regarding these matters to show you our renovation plans. Please call our office to meet with the property manager or stop in at anytime Monday - Friday 9am - 4:30pm. Thank you, Management
I’ve lived here for about a year and I love it, it’s a very safe community with lots of green grass to walk your dog and the complex is very pet friendly. What makes living here even better is the awesome property manager Samantha, she goes above and beyond for her tenants. Every time I see Samantha she has a smile on her face and is willing to help you in anyway she can which is refreshing because genuinely nice and caring people are hard to come by. She literally does everything, from rolling up her sleeves and pressure washing and cleaning to answering 100s of calls theirs know base she doesn’t cover.
I’ve lived here for about 6 months now. The property is recently under new management. The property manager is so helpful, educated and professional! She responds VERY quick at any time of any day. It is nice having the comfort to know someone is always available 24/7. The staff is so nice and friendly, and very communicative. Since I’ve lived here I have already noticed positive changes. I love my apartment!
During my time here, I've had things stolen from my car. The Leasing office is usually no help, even when telling them about the theft situation the office's response was jokingly "Welcome to the Flats!" They have lost my rent check before, and accused me of not paying and tried to charge me late fees. I paid again and months later they found the check... I've also been charged late fees when I've paid on time. To remedy this I called the management company who took it off right away, which was nice but it should not be charged at all. Had I not contested it I would have paid an extra $100. Also, Snow removal was horrible as they do not have a good system in place to remove snow. They've tried to get a system going, but most of the residents here refused to move their vehicles. Also, the dumpsters were always a complete mess (though that might be more the faults of some of the bad residents). That all being said, there are good things about living here. You CANNOT hear the highway at all inside the apartments, and I hardly ever heard other residents through the walls/ceilings. The central air was nice. Also I had a basic unit with a deal where I did not have to pay electricity for my full year lease, with a full month free included. If you're looking for a studio apartment, I'd say rent here. Just be wary of where you park, and stand up for yourself when you are charged late fees or they "lose" your checks. For me, it was only worth renting because I was getting a basic unit with free utilities, try to find one like that. Let this place be your second or third option for renting, definitely not first!
Recently stayed in this complex at a unit being used as an Airbnb. The unit was nicely updated (although quite small) however the property is not at all maintained. All garden areas are full of weeds and overgrown. The trash is picked up a waste management company however quite a bit of garbage had been thrown on the ground around the dumpster area and not cleaned up. There was also a couch dumped there. The smell was horrible, even about 50feet away. There is an extensive amount of mildew and dirt (possibly mold?) on the outside of the buildings. It is incredibly off-putting. On the bright side, the complex is well lit at night. I would not recommend paying that amount of rent to live in what looks like a run down and mismanaged property
I went to have a look at the apartment and see if it was worth renting once there the room they showed me was dirty and the toilet was in the bathtub also the area where the apartment was wasn’t clean and smells really bad. Once I went to back to the front desk after seen the room I asked if it was gonna be fix to which she said yes that all room were gonna be remodeled and told me the price which is a lot higher that what is posted on here. I was very disappointed in all it did not look anything like in the pictures.
We were intrigued by how affordable this place was but beware, they never changed the electricity over to an apartment complex from when it was a hotel. We get charged $140 a month for a 550 square foot apartment that barely uses anything electronic. Our unit has no dishwasher. The property management and company as a whole refuse to help when needed thinking we will just drop the fact they charged us for hot water when it clearly states in our lease they pay for it. The laundry unit makes your clothes smell. People use the dumpster to dump their unwanted couches, mattress, and so on and in the months we have lived here nothing has been done about it. The lights barely work, so if you have a dog and take it out at night good luck seeing anything. Speaking of which no one picks up after their dogs so beware you’re gonna step in dog poop. The police are here constantly, it’s not a safe place to live! If you like being lied to then this place is for you, however, I’d stay far far away!
Garbage piled into the dumpster area that makes it more of a dump..lights around the complex that don’t go on ever, leases that aren’t upheld; and to top it all off, getting a response or getting ahold of management/owners is next to impossible. I deeply regret leasing here and ask that you read the reviews before you move here.
Read everything and look at your actual unit before move in. Make sure everything is in order. Pictures are deceiving!!!
They say free cable, that was a lie, people hit your vechical in the parking lot where you're lucky to get a parking spot, if not they tow your car, even if you live there. Then give you a electric bill for a hundred and two dollars, then turn around and recalculates it to six hundred dollars in two months I wasn't even in the apartment. Their renting out efficiencies calling them apartments. Go ahead and get ripped off if you want to, their good at it. The lady at front desk looks like she goes with the rooms. Unbelievable unprofessional and don't leave your slider door unlocked because a guy tired to walk in my apartment and take my dog. Good luck.
Quite and nice place to live. Pet friendly and great access to the supermarket and roads.Nice place to call home.

All the rent process was hassle free, the leasing agent and the manager awesome! The service level I received was and still beyond my expectations when moving in it was just me carrying heavy bags the maintenance guy helped bring my bags up to my room. I love my balcony were I drink my coffee every morning with a pool view. Great location 10 minutes form my work, quiet neighborhood. Although Tenants here are so rude and big time gossipers I feel bad for whoever works here and has to put up with it.I stay to myself and I love this place super safe comfortable and cozy !! My family and I recommend this place to anyone looking for peace and quite. AND all Utilities are included !!

This apartment has the WORSE MANAGEMENT the girl at the front desk is the worst to deal with. I have had a couple of problems at my apartment, including black mold and she wont do anything about. She is always very lazy and she never wants to do her job. THIS APARTMENT UNITS HAVE A LOT OF POTENTIAL IF THEY WOULD REPLACE THE MANAGEMENT. I'm leaving at the end of my lease because I cant stand her.

On behalf of the NEW management company, we are sorry to hear that you had a less-than-favorable experience with the former manager/management company. Having purchased the property 11 months ago, we very are proud to say that you will not even be able to recognize "the front desk." And, if you stop by to take a peek, please say hello to "Marica" our awesome Manager. We look forward to showing you our "new & improved" version of the Flats at 390. All the best, CS Management Group.

Good Morning. My name is Cher and I have just read your review from last year. I am happy to say that as new owners and managers, your comment was of help in letting us know how we can better serve our residents in the future. If you are ever in the area, please stop in for a visit. You may not recognize the place. We are now called "The Flats at 390." Again, thanks for your valued input.
This apartment has a lot of potential. I have been here 4 years and I am comfortable here, but unhappy with the upkeep. The rent keeps going up, but the units are too small for the cost and they are not kept updated. Rent is not worth more than $1200 max for 2 bedrooms and $900-$950 for 1 bedrooms.

Hello, my name is Cheryl and I represent the new ownership (Flats at 390). If there is anything that we can do to improve on your residency with us, or to move forward in a positive direction, please just let myself or Marica know. Feel free to call or stop by. Thank you.
This is a great area close to 91, 691 and route 15. Highway is close but you never hear the noise. One bedroom apartments are on the small side but clean and provide a lot of amenities for the price. However laundry cannot be coin operated and internet is not free unless you live in the main building. Overall it is worth the price in a good neighborhood.

Thank you so much for this valuable comment. Many times we try to explain that even though we are conveniently located to the highway(s), the noise level is heard only at a minimum. We hope you continue to call Flats at 390 your home. All the best, Marica & Cheryl
