Property Ratings at Flats on East Gay
If you want nothing but beat around the bush responses, flat out ignorance, and bandaid solutions to problems then this is the place for you. Good luck getting a hold of management, which has changed multiple times since I've lived here. The only consistent communication we have is the monthly reminder to pay our rent! Mail hasn't been delivered in months and nothing has been done to remedy the situation. I am now forced to take legal action to receive mail from USPS. Maintenance issue after maintenance issue when this is a brand new building and we are the first tenants in this unit. Security issues are finally being addressed after months! Rent portal is a mess and inaccurate. I still haven't been refunded for false charges and my rent appears on the ledger higher than was discussed when we applied for this apartment. We have written confirmation to sign the lease anyway even though the rent amount on the lease was wrong. That was the first red flag of many and we should have backed out then but we were desperate to find a place to live since our house was being sold by our previous landlord. We are now dealing with the consequence which is fine but please, I just want a response about our mail! It's been almost 3 months and no one has taken accountability! To be constantly ignored and then provide bandaid solutions to other issues has become so unacceptable and unprofessional at this point. We cannot wait for our lease to be up.
I sincerely advise against signing a lease for this place. Absolutely not worth all the problems. I moved in because they were offering two months free rent as a new building special, however it’s just not worth it. I don’t know where to begin with all the problems. 1. I’ll start with my most recent issue. I put in a work order to maintenance exactly 3 weeks ago because our washer/dryer was malfunctioning and not washing our clothes. Didn’t hear back from them whatsoever until after 3 weeks, when I found out they had entered my apartment while I was at work. Zero notifications that they would be entering, just three weeks later they decided to come in randomly, even though they’re supposed to give 24 hour notice. I contacted the new property manager, Tom, and he didn’t seem concerned at all, offering no apology or resolution. Just “okay, I’ll talk to maintenance”, then no further follow up. 2. I’ve lived here for 5 months now, and this building still doesn’t have an option for internet connection, other than what they provide (which is extremely unreliable). And no updates for our own internet hook ups in the foreseeable future. 3. We have a community parking lot in back (non-gated and no security cameras) for an extra $85 a month, which is outrageous. So almost everyone just parks in the street, which is usually pretty full. Multiple tenants have also had their vehicles broken into over the last several months. 4. While the building and units look nice and some aspects of the units are quite visually appealing, there has been a variety of issues during the 5 months I’ve stayed here. Besides the washer/dryer malfunctioning, I’ve had a water leak coming out of my wall which took them 4 separate entries to repair. My toilet paper holder fell off the wall, they repaired it then a week later it fell off the wall again. The garbage disposal sometimes violently shakes the entire kitchen. We have an app (butterflyMX) that’s supposed to remotely unlock the buildings entrances, but that doesn’t work for both me or my girlfriend over 50% of the time, so it’s pretty much useless to rely on (the building entrances use a key fob). Overall, I’m unhappy with my time here. Maybe in a couple years when and if they work out some of the kinks it could be a little better. But I strongly advise against living here anytime soon. There are other negatives too, but I’ve used up the max characters I can use for this review. I hope this helps any potential future tenets.
Where to start? This apartment may look nice but is no where near move in ready! Day 1 when I received my keys instead of being able to move in I was waiting hours for maintenance who was apparently fixing the garbage disposal that was not working yet. Paint splatters all over the bathroom fixtures including the sink and tub and damage to the bathroom floor by my toilet. On receiving my keys I was also informed mailboxes are not setup for the units. A week and a half in and I’m still not sure if they have been setup. I was told if I wanted packages delivered it was best to send them to an Amazon locker. There are broken windows in two different units on the alley of the building… I was told that the construction crew had done this but that’s very hard to believe windows 25-30 ft apart from another would both be broken by the construction crew. Sounds like more of a safety concern they are trying to cover up as a mistake, in my opinion. I was told the units would be finished by move in and that was a lie. I’m now being told that could be 1-2 weeks more! There is CONSTANT noise by the construction crew yelling and carrying on conversations in the halls , slamming doors, and going in and out of the same doors 5-6 times a minute. These doors opening and closing repeatedly are not only loud but also cause the door to your unit to suction and slam and rattle every time the construction crew goes in and out which is constant. Would you like cable or WiFi? I was told Spectrum was the provider but when I tried setting up Spectrum told me they could not service the building yet it had not been setup. Calling and talking to management they informed me because they had not been registered with the USPS for mailing Spectrum could not setup service. So a week and a half in no internet but just that they are waiting for the next steps with no clear timeline. First floor unit like mine? Dont expect any privacy. I was told there would be blinds in the unit but when I arrived there were no blinds and no timeline to put them up either. After complaining they did reimburse me for the curtains I had to spend a day looking for and installing because the ceilings are so high! Hope you have a tall ladder and are ready to work right from move in just to make your place livable! I’ve gone back and forth with management and they have done nothing to improve the situation. In fact it sounds like the construction crew is retaliating and making more noise than ever!
