Property Ratings at Forest Glen Apartments
Apartments are in horrible condition, the two leasing agents are rude and useless, they advertise the pool to new tenants but never actually open the pool. Don’t waste your money
When we first moved in things were pretty good overall. We think that was mostly due to the lady that worked in the office at the time. Since she left things have gone downhill in every single way. The people in the office now could not care less about the people living here or the property. Things do not get fixed anymore, noise is suddenly an endless very huge problem. The buildings are falling apart. And the only way to get the office to ever even attempt to do anything at all is you have to contact the village or even take them to court! Even for the simplest things and people do this often here now as it is the only way anything might finally get done. And the pool has not been opened for 3 years now. There is dangerous mold in most of the buildings, if not all of them and they do nothing about it. Plus next door is a private pool party area so you have to put up with a loud bull horn early every morning and many live loud concerts that go on there. And yet for this they raise the rents quite high here every year and we all ask for what! What are we paying for when nothing is ever done and things get worse each year. The first couple of years here did recommend this place to people. Since then though we have told people to stay away and have also left and could not be happier. This place was once the best I had ever lived in going back ten years. It was affordable and very peaceful and quiet. There were classy quiet friendly people living here. I mean you could hear a pin drop it was so nice and quiet. Because of this I did not mind the fact that the apartments were very old and had lots of issues and nothing was painted or replaced. In recent years though that has all changed! Rents are far from affordable now and forget about classy people living here and forget about having peace and quiet! Aside from people driving in and out all the time with their cars shaking from the loud blasting music we also have to put up with people living here who do the same with their music or TVs blasting so we can all hear it and feel it! I used to have pleasant talks with people here. Now every conversation with people here always turns into them sharing their own horror stories about living here! People used to stay here. Now people leave quickly. Its a shame I really miss SO badly how nice it used to be here. I used to always recommend this place to people. Now I have been doing the opposite.
The buildings are old and run down and falling apart! And god forbid you need heat in the winter time, forget it! Rodents own these buildings as well! I thought it was just our building and found our from others it is a problem in all the buildings! Noisy neighbors with loud blasting music. Then you get it from the private pool that is located right next door to the complex who do not care that people live here late at night! Rents each year go way up even though nothing is ever done to the apartments to earn all the extra money they keep asking for!
My friends had catalytic Converter stolen from their car and a bike stolen. No Security Cameras. This is not a safe place anymore.
I haven’t even been here a whole month and all already I have found mice in the apartment. This is truly a nightmare. When I asked the leasing agent about this she told me she was unaware of this issue. I was finally able to speak with a neighbor and this is an on going problem here. When you initially move in you are told you get a 10 dollar loaded laundry card this is also untrue. Yes the rent is affordable here but only if you want to live with unnecessary pest. They are so worried about you bringing an animal in to pay a 300 animal but yet they don’t inform you about the “ pets” that come with the apt.
Been here for a month, have had 2 mice come in my unit already, they did not load any money into my laundry card even though I was supposed to be given $10 preloaded in it, the receptionists in the office are ridiculously difficult to get a hold of. Do not come here the price is low for a reason, this place is garbage
Used to be a nice quiet place long ago. Now there are neighbors blasting music all the time vibrating the whole place. And while that is happening cars coming in and out all the time are doing the same thing. Added to that are the loudest wind chimes ever seen. Plus during summer there is a community pool center next door that is louder each year with bull horns and loud music, sometimes live music! Heat is always an issue! The buildings are old and rents are always going up higher and higher even though nothing is done to improve the buildings. Its a shame. Ironic back when the rents were much cheaper this place was quiet and so much nicer in every way.
It’s good location and quiet. They allow pets which was a must for me. Staff is responsive. Overall good value.
Living in this complex is probably the worst experience of my life. The people are extremely nosey! I'm talking about phones being hacked and tapped. Any camera device was compromised. I'm just glad it's over! Also the appliances barely worked and the pool never opened. If I could give no stars I would! Stay away from this place if you want privacy.
Well, going on 3years living at Forest Glen and the 1st year in a half was Amazing, but past that things started going downhill unfortunately. Very, poor water, heat Etc... the gentleman in the office is a sweetheart but their receptionist has a very poor attitude acts like she doesn't care really stuck Up but we have decided nt to renew our lease and looking for a ?? of our own no more renting.... The older maintenance guy he's a sweetheart but I think Forest Glen puts too, too much on him and I think w/ certain things the older maintenance guy knows alot but nt enough....
We have lived in Forest Glen apartments for 11 years now. We have had several opportunities to move, but none seemed worth it. We live in a large 2 bedroom here, with our dog. The property managers are kind and helpful. When we need maintenance, they come right away and fix the problem. Our neighbors are wonderful, and have become real friends of ours. This complex is clean, quiet, and SAFE. We have never had any issues with bugs, rodents, loud parties, or crime. Years ago, we even experienced job lay-offs, and the managers here gave us time to get back on our feet. Wonderful place to live! We have no current plans to leave. We love our home here!
The most important point I want to stress, this community has a lot of families, but it's always quiet. The staff is helpful and honest, which was partly the reason I chose Forest Glen. The pool is rather nice, and the space is perfect for a small family residence or as a nice bachelor pad. The area is wonderful, and it's conveniently near the highway and train station. I love how it's just far enough from the city that you get that suburban community feel, but not so far that you have to go on an adventure to get to all the fun the city's got to offer. If it weren't for the small laundry room, I'd give it five stars. That said, there are plenty of Laundromats and Dry Cleaners around.
I was very excited going to this complex, knowing they had a pool and allowed animals. When I got there my excitement ended. The leasing agent was not there when I arrived, so the property manager showed me around. He had no idea what was going on. There was animal feces every where, no one cleaned up. The apartments had no updates, stains every where, and second outer doors that were in the master bedrooms! It was very depressing and that's being nice.
I've been living here for two years and this is a GREAT place for the area. It is quiet, secure, right next to a beautiful walking path and forest preserve, and a five minute drive from shopping and dining in La Grange. Given the area, where homes frequently sell in the mid- to high-thousands, the rents are very affordable. About the only complaint I have is that truly hot water is sometimes difficult to come by, but other than that, everything is well maintained and up to code, if dated. The buildings themselves are a little old, but they're built of brick and cinderblock so you will have a hard time hearing what your neighbors are up to. During my time here, I've not once had an issue with maintenance, pests, or security; they have a 24-hour emergency maintenance service and consistent pest control service, and the police patrol the neighborhood regularly. They have recently (summer 2013) instated breed restrictions for dogs; but, as far as I am aware, they will still consider your pet on a case-by-case basis.
Save your money this place is a DUMP with uncaring people running it. They just collect the rent and do nothing for the unkeep of the property. They never fix anything they just patch it up until it breaks the next time. I'M SHOUTING.... SAVE YOUR MONEY.
I am new to looking at apartments. Where this place is located, and the size of the facility, I was surprised at the dollar amount requested for a very small 1 bedroom unit near railroad tracks. More of a turn off is the office staff doesn't care about the people it is attending to. Make a better effort in trying to welcome potential renters. You don't have a Condo, you have an apartment. Pricing should be in line as such.
When asking about restrictions that they have on pets they make them up as they go. There is no policy set in place just a "case by case" without really looking at the case, other than google the breed and making a decision based on what questions you ask. I want to live in a place that goes after tenant that are responsible pet owners not people who buy dogs that fit in a well known category.
