It’s insane how smooth and efficient the process for maintenance is at Forest Woods. I’ve had a handful of requests for various things to be “fine tuned” in my unit and it’s so easy and quickly accomplished EVERY TIME. My most recent request was to fix the shower dial which I thought would take some time. Nope! They sent a really nice guy named Dustin who was in and out in like less than ten minutes! Thank you to the Forest Woods team for their excellent support to tenant needs.

My partner and I found Forest woods while looking for apartments close to Castlewood State Park. We were drawn in immediately by the gardens and proximity to outdoor activities. We quickly realized how friendly the staff is too. We have lived here for the better part of a year and have always had maintenance requests fulfilled quickly (usually same day) and the grounds are taken care of well. At Forest we didn’t like the idea of carpet, but our dogs love it and since we rarely hear our neighbors I imagine the carpet helps with sound proofing! After renting many privately owned houses and managed apartments, Forest woods really combines the best of both worlds! As long as we live in Saint Louis this is our home.

I loved living here for my 6 1/2 years! My boyfriend and I bought a home, otherwise I would still be here. It had everything I needed. I loved having in unit laundry and I could go on and on about my kitchen. The staff was always friendly and helpful and I have no complaints. If the occasion ever arose I would move back in a heartbeat.
I only moved because geographically it didn't fit my needs anymore. The management staff is very good during the entire process from application to move out. Never hard to contact and friendly when you need something. It's a quiet neighborhood, tucked away from any main roads. Pool and exercise room is maintained very well. Sad to have had to leave.
The property has a very high turnover rate in staffing which is very problematic when you are trying to get things taken care of regarding your apartment. Also, after I moved out they told me that they were keeping my deposit and that I owed them over $800 dollars for replacement of the carpet. The carpet was 3 years old when I moved out. The reason for replacement (including the padding underneath) was excessive damage from my dogs. I shampooed and cleaned the carpets in my apartment multiple times and left it in very nice condition because I don't like living in a dirty house. When I spoke with GEM about this, they said, "the end result of our conversation is the same" and wrote me off. I will never work with this company again. Their customer service is absolutely awful. Would not recommend them at all
Expect a notice or posting on your door every week or two. Usually on a friday. Want to know which of your neighbors are on vacation ? Just check their doors. Lots of random trucks including a flatbed tow truck and a FedEx truck taking up multiple parking spots for no reason. Dog park usually has a broken gate so it's never secure.
Been here for a few months and everything is great!! Neighbors are quiet and polite. The staff has been extremely helpful. We've had a couple requests for maintenance and they've been answered immediately. We selected an updated interior apartment and could not be happier. New appliances and cabinets make this place seem 10x better than all of the other complexes in the area. This location is also perfect because it is literally minutes from grocery, restaurants, gas stations, and highways... BUT it is also excluded from all of that. Being surrounded by trees, there is very little sign of traffic or city. Forest Woods has been everything we were looking for and we're happy that we chose it.
We chose to live here after a walk thru where the property manager specifically told us we could paint the apartment and as long as we stayed the term of the lease, we didn't need to paint it back. Of course they charged us $115 because we had a pale pink bedroom and a pale blue wall in another bedroom after the fact. We went back to attempt to have them rectify the situation, but they refused. We left the apartment in move in condition and in fact even cleaner than when moved in.
Forest Woods is a great apartment complex to live in. The landscaping is always beautiful, and changes every other week. The rent is a bit high - 735.00 for one bedroom (not updated) - but the location is great. Close to 3 major highways, two grocery stores, and plenty of to go food options. The complex is surrounded by woods which makes it feel private. The people who live here are friendly, but usually keep to themselves. I haven't ever had an issue with crime or suspicious characters. The complex is dog (& cat) friendly with a dog park, though it is a little small. There are dog waste receptacles along the sidewalk which is very convenient. There is a good sized pool and workout area by the office, but I never used them. The only complaints I have are that the rent goes up $15 every time the lease expires, but I figure that's true everywhere, and the carpet inside the apartment is cheap and dirties easily. Resilient flooring would be a better option.
These apartments are at a good price point but once you move in you will know why.
