I absolutely love it here. Moved across the country and never saw this place in person til the day I got my keys. It was a smooth process and I am so thankful it did not disappoint once I was here and not just on the website. So happy to call this home.

Staff don’t seem to know how to solve problems. Maintenance takes up to 4 days to solve issues. Little to no communication from management. It’s so confusing figuring financial situations and new information. If you go to visit them to work out an issue in person or ask about a weird charge, most likely no one will be in the office despite being during operating hours. Management promises to fix issues with no follow up. You need to follow up. Security is hard to reach for issues and is not always present. I informed them of an unmarked car in the parking lot, car was removed after 3-4 days. No community events. It looks great on the outside. Living here is a very different story. Don’t let the amenities fool you into signing a lease. We have had issues from day 1 with management. Very happy for our lease to be over soon!

As a new resident relocating from the East Coast, my experience with Fourth Street has been disappointing. The property appears to be understaffed, which is reflected in the service provided to residents. For instance, it took several days to receive the key to my mailbox, which was not provided upon move-in. Additionally, there are still unresolved issues with fixtures in my apartment, despite multiple visits from maintenance staff who have yet to make any progress.
I Love how convenient the neighborhood is… And how it feel super safe quiet ….and has friendly neighbors……. It’s a quick walk to jack London square and you can catch great views at the boat deck

I love this building. It’s always clean and everyone is fairly friendly. My only issue is the parking garage situation. Gate is damaged, incidents have occurred and high price for parking.

Packages are constantly stolen, our cars have been broken into multiple times, the garage door is always broken, our neighbors' apartment have been broken into, and we have not had a working dishwasher in two weeks with no follow-up after the initial maintenance request.

Amenities are the best in the neighborhood and floor plans spacious. Neighbors can be noisy/disrespectful with regard to helping keep common areas nice and usable though.

We received the keys to our new apartment and were shocked at the state in which we received it. The apartment was filthy and was not cleaned before it was passed over to us. We complained and someone was sent to clean the apartment delaying our move in a few days. We thought this was a one off situation so we brushed it off. We later found out from other tenants that they received their apartment in the same condition. The elevator at the Jackson Street entrance is constantly out of order and you are unable to access the parking garage through the back stairwell. There were also multiple occasions when the garage door was broken and remained open 24/7. My boyfriend’s Harley was vandalized within the parking garage due to inadequate security measures. We decided to end our lease and vacate the building after a little over two years. We scheduled a pre-move out inspection, a final inspection, and had the apartment thoroughly cleaned prior to our move out date. No one bothered to show up to our scheduled pre-move out inspection and no one would have showed up to the scheduled final inspection if I didn’t follow up with the leasing office after an hour of waiting around. The property manager was not available for the scheduled time slot so someone unqualified to make the proper assessment was sent in their place. We later received an invoice in the mail saying we owed money in addition to our deposit for cleaning and repainting the entire apartment. The apartment was spotless when we left it and there were no damages or need for repairs outside of normal wear and tear. The charges are unfounded and we are still in the process of disputing these charges three months later. Our assigned parking spot was also reassigned to another tenant prior to the end of our lease. Ultimately, these issues are a result of poor management and I would not recommend leasing an apartment within this complex. It really is a shame since the building has great amenities and it is in a great location.

Packages are being stolen again on a regular basis. We notify the staff and are told the following: they don't care and refuse to accept packages for residents; contact the carrier ( carrier provides proof of delivery photos so they won't reship) and yes they have cameras in the mail areas but flat out refuse to use them or do anything about it. Security was posted in the area for a few months last year and we didn't have nearly as many there's but now that that's over, the stealing is constant. Mind you, the thieves (aka fellow residents) are stealing packages from the locked mailroom in building A and again manages refuses to do anything. Only FSE has this issue so I would recommend going to another apartment building nearby as they all have either doorman or security posted to negate package theft.

The apartments are beautiful and the grounds are kept very clean. Management is approachable. The gym is not too crowded and the other amenities are usually open.

I’ll keep this brief: take your money elsewhere. Once you sign your lease-prepare to be ignored by management. Simple inquiries are left unanswered. Package theft is rampant here and has been for a while. I’ve never experienced anything like it and the company does nothing besides say it’s not their responsibility. The walls seem to have no insulation so you will be disturbed by surrounding tenants. Lots of smoke in the hallways that will enter your unit. Ledger fees don’t add up and don’t expect a clear explanation. And they keep your deposit even though you’re told not to clean the apartment at move out. I could go on but I won’t. Overall a terrible experience.

So far, I've had a wonderful experience. Brittnay was so warm and accomadating throughout my move. I had one small service issue and it was taken care of immediately. I've only lived here for about 1 month, but I've overall had a great experience.

Fourth Street East is a hip community in the heart of Jack London Square minutes away from the Oakland nightlife, with many neighboring dining options. The amenities spaces are nice and kept clean, my unit is nice and spacious, and you can’t hear your neighbors, but only the sounds of cars driving on the freeway.

We have been living at Fourth Street East since it opened in 2019. We have actually lived in two different units and loved both. The staff is always great and supportive, and the new management team is great. Also to note, the amenities are the best in the area and very well maintained.
I fell lucky to live in this building. Everything is fantastic, neighborhood, staff, services. If you are looking for an apartment with excellent service, and super comfortable, fourth street East is the answer!
Really nice staff, really nice building, really poor upkeep of amenities, and they close at 10pm which is very early.
The building is great the management makes the building very hard to deal with

We have had a wonderful time living in the apartments. The apartment itself is modern, comfortable, and stylish. The only annoying thing is how sensitive the smoke detectors are when cooking because there isn’t much natural ventilation. To us, what justifies the rent are the amenities and the community. We loved the amenities, everything we needed to entertain or chill was right there. As time went on things seemed to feel worn down, but I think that has a lot to do with residents not always being mindful. It can be hard to meet people as adults but the events helped introduce us to our neighbors who became our friends. The community the complex creates is what makes this place stand out from all the other luxury buildings. Even people we meet in the neighborhood know this about 4th street, and they eventually move in too.

Do not be fooled by the words 'luxury apartments and the positive reviews - all referencing a leasing agent and most who haven't actually lived here. I've lived in the building for 1.5 years and it's filled with crime, parties, and messes. To start, don't expect to get a package if you live here. The packages are stolen over and over and management does absolutely nothing. Cameras were installed in the package room, and I literally had management tell me that they know who stole my package and can't do anything (Oakland PD won't either). Any other 'luxury' building would have packages collected in their office and held until they are signed out. Additionally, the building is a frat house. My floor constantly smells like weed and cigarettes, even though it's a non-smoking building. There is dog pee everywhere, broken glass, and more. Renters beware!

The building has a great location, phenomenal amenities in terms of the fitness center, swimming pool and hot tub. The staff try their best, but it feels like they get overwhelmed. Sometimes, repair request go for months without a response. The building also has high turnover, because it has a party vibe feel and that gets old after a while. Neighbors are not always courteous, probably due the high turnover. If the staff do their best, but there wouldn't be the need to constantly poll tenants to find out if they will be renewing their lease.

Just moved in last week, so this review is subject to change. First of I want to give a huge shout out to the amazing Margareth and Dartise, they made the moving experience quite seamless and were very accommodating in working around with my schedule to help me move. Margareth has been helping us out since we toured the place and she went above and beyond in helping with the application process etc. Just the whole leasing staff in general, they're very friendly. Amenities: Now that Bay Area is finally opening up, amenities are rolling back and so that has been amazing! This place has a lot to offer. They recently started weekend little shindigs, and so there was a mimosa brunch my first weekend here, and you can tell the leasing staff really cares about making their tenants happy. Location: Location, location, location. Located in Jack London Square, couldn't ask for a better place to be. Super close to highways and the ferry, which is key for me since I commute by ferry. Amazing breweries and restaurants around the area. China town and Old Oakland just a 10 min walk. Apartments are very generous with the sqftg, so that's nice. So far things have been amazing. Everything works, and the neighbors are chill. I'm very much looking forward to getting to know the place better and really take advantage of the amenities and the great things Jack London has to offer.

Margareth made the move in process so easy. The amenities are open and great. I love the layout of my new apartment and although there are some community issues that need to be addressed, it's up to the residents to be good neighbors.

The leasing office at Fourth Street East Apartments did not return my $600 deposit. I tried numerous times to contact leasing agent Margareth as well as leasing manager Sherita, but they both stopped responding to my emails and phone calls. My experience with this office was disappointing from the beginning. I was given a welcome letter and only a few days prior to my move in date, they told me my application was denied without a clear explanation. I asked for my holding deposit a month ago, and I still have not received a refund or an update as to why. Margareth and Sherita don't respond emails or phone calls. Stay away from this place, management is terrible.

The management doesnt take resident requests seriously, our packages get stolen and management doesnt care, our utilities are quite high with no explanation, and rules regarding covid and amenities are not followed but management doesnt enforce them.

I recently moved in 2 weeks ago and am loving my new place!! Fourth Street East has beautiful interiors and is well maintained. And the management team has been great especially Margaret. She truly made my move-in day so seamless with private access to the elevator and loading dock for the full duration of my move. Plus the location is perfect right near Jack London Square with so many restaurants and the bay trail to enjoy the marina views. I highly recommend moving here!!!

The Fourth Street East mgmt. team was able to expedite my approval/ lease process, and made my move-in experience easy. The building has great amenities, and the neighbors are wonderful.
I have been living at Fourthstreeteast for 1.5 years and wish I had never signed a lease here. These are far from the luxury units described in marketing materials and easily my worst living situation in 15+ yeqrs of renting in the Bay Area. The units are poorly constructed with zero noise insulation - you can hear all of your neighbors stomping, slamming doors, fighting, playing music, and having sex at all hours. In-unit construction is poor with too many cut-corners. Break-downs are frequent. There are too many inconsiderate neighbors. Loud music is common as is drug use; you can smell marijuana smoke coming through the vents or windows. It’s like a freshman dorm, but with far more dogs. Pet accidents are frequent in the hallway and the maintenance crew has to power wash the sidewalk 2-3 times each week to prevent the whole block from smelling like a urinal. And during the pandemic there are too many instances of neighbors going maskless in common areas. Theft is a problem everywhere in the Bay Area, but this building is a magnet for thieves and management incompetence makes the problem much worse. Since I’ve been here there have been several thefts from parked cars, storage lockers, bicycle room, and packages. Instead of informing residents and proactively working with law enforcement, management is radio silent and won’t share any details with residents. The office staff has turned over so frequently, I can’t even say who the manager is at the moment. In any event, the front office is only focused on getting new bodies into apartments. Responses to issues are slow to non-existent. The pandemic has obviously made things worse. The amenities are mostly closed and the office staff uses it as an excuse to hide from residents. The single star is for the friendly, helpful and overworked maintenance crew. They deserve much better than this incompetent management team.
It's a beautiful residence with lots of nice folks living here and working here. Thanks for all the care you put into the building.
FSE has a beautiful facility, friendly maintenance, and zero access to amenities with zero communication related to COVID. For the money I would not recommend this facility to anyone. If they offered an additional concession for their lack of mgmt abilities during this crisis I'd be more likely to go with the flow.
Would not recommend moving to this building - certainly NOT worth the rent charged particularly with all amenities being closed. Management poorly responsive to concerns, if at all. Maintenance of building poor, and lacking in attention to detail.
