Property Ratings at Foxfire Apartments
I went in to rent with the company and the initial visit was nice. I gave them literally ALL the information they would need. It still took them over 2 weeks to get back to me, and they openly admitted to dodging my calls about the status of my application. I was denied because they could not get ahold of my current renter, despite having the number. Seriously. Don't do it to yourself.
Been living here for almost 5 years and it has been a breath of fresh air from my previous place I stayed at, management always been super nice and easy access to so many different places in the area.
I almost lived here but they are very disorganized. The staff is not upfront about everything and they seem to not communicate well with each other. Multiple times I was told one thing then told another thing, which even involved what I owe them (fees, deposits). I would absolutely not recommend living at this complex. the customer service is not good. I tried to explain that they should let people know that you need to make a certain amount or else you’ll have to have someone co-sign/ be a guarantor. Other complexes told me right away that my income had to be three times the monthly rent before I signed anything. They should really change their policy if this is not something they usually do. The staff member I was trying to explain this to seemed dismissive on the phone from the start so I didn’t go into detail. Regardless of there intentions, I’d rather live somewhere where they actually care about customer service and being upfront with you. They really need to get more organized too.
Current manager very rude, talking to her is like bothering her. They have zero customer service. Maintenance request takes days if not months and you have to request multiple occassions. They recently fired the previous manager and the crew and all things considered, they were a bit polite than the current one who is always locked in the office citing the Pandemic. Would not recommend this place even to my enemies.
There is NEVER anywhere to park, so in order to get a good parking spot you have to pay. There are also residents that own spaces, but do not use them which makes it harder for other residents. The management office always has a "be back soon" sign on the door, so not really reliable. Also, appliances are very old for the monthly rent cost. Other than these reasons the place is not too bad, but I wouldn't renew my lease.
Good value, great location, and I never had a negative encounter with staff or management. The complex is pretty quiet and peaceful too.
Okay so me and my wife lived here for a year and I will say it was a little odd on the move in but after seeing how close it was to everything and the space in the apartments it was a great fit for us. The fellow renters were friendly but not nosey we enjoyed using are electric pellet grill on our deck almost every day. There is lots of trees and the occasional wild life including a fox. I'd recommend renting a carport just for convenience. A lot of people have given this place a bad rap but I didn't see what they were taking about. Maintenance is always around the property doing work and Lauren was awesome and has a good sense of humor, some people just didn't realize she is on job and is responsible for a brand. The windows and doors were replaced property wide so great for saving $$$. Give this place a try and see.
I've been living here for more than a year, from 17-18 and renewed a lease for being lazy. Right after you sign the lease, the staff become sour. They are mostly people that are rude and have low manners. So when you talk to them, it really just annoys you and makes you want to get out of there and listen to their complaining. They have rotated staff twice since I've been there. Kara was an amazing person that worked at the apartments and is the whole reason for us moving there and later the staff they got was incompetent. We really do dislike it here but we stay because its cheap relatively. All around there are newer apartments that I wish we have gone to. You can never find any parking at all! and contrary to the previous comment about all "obviously loving it here lol" is bs. The reason for that is that is really cheap like I said and there's a bunch of ratchet people everywhere you go in the apartments. Please don't move in for your sake.
For those who want to contact corporate: J.A. Peterson Co., Inc, in Shawnee Mission, KS Regional Manager for Fox Fire: Tim Sweeney Phone: (913) 384-3800 I'm going on two years living here, price is affordable and the neighborhood is great but management and staff here are horrible. Our master bath flooded, I've asked five or more times for someone to come out and see what the issue was. It was leaking from the light fixture and the fan, so it definitely needs checked out. Every time they say "someone will be out first thing tomorrow or within a couple hours". No one has showed. Not only was our bathroom flooded but the gentlemans bathroom upstairs was flooded as well and no one has come to look at his either. The last time I spoke to someone at the office to come check everything out, she hung up on me because I threatened to "throw a fit and someone's getting yelled at" if it wasn't looked at today. The landscaping (mainly bushes) in front of our porch is ugly (I like to decorate in the fall). I've asked if we could have a few of the bushes removed so that we could have access to our porch from the side walk and see out our sliding window. Apparently the office does not have that authority. Yet, no other apartment has bushes in front of it like ours. I notice they have NEW landscaping at the front of the property but they never do anything at the back (which is where I'm located). Also, they let the yard go for two or more weeks before it is mowed. The pool was dirty looking all summer. Can't wait to see what the winter has in store for us...
This complex is nicely located in Mission where it’s really close to everything, and probably the cheapest in the area. Apts are pretty old with old, extensively used appliances. The AC was so loud to the point that I couldn’t hear my TV if the AC is on. Many attempts to fix the problem failed, with the same answer every time “we can’t fix it”. Maintenance people are reasonable although I usually have to call many times to fix a simple problem (one day I found a nest of birds in the dryer vent opening and it took them forever to come and close the hole from outside). Anyways, the above is nothing compared to dealing with the management office. People in the management office are terrible! They lack common sense thinking and don’t reason! They have a fixed answer for everything “we can’t do it” even if it’s a pretty simple thing like switching your parking spot to another vacant one because your neighbors are using your reserved spot! Moving in and out was a very traumatic experience for me!!! They had to change my moving in date for a week and they didn’t offer any compensation so I have to rent an extended stay hotel to accommodate for their inconvenience (I was new to the city and had nowhere to go)!! When it’s time to move out, I asked for a couple more hours to completely vacate just because the movers I hired couldn’t do it on time. I offered them paying double the daily rent and tried talking to everyone in the leasing office to accommodate for the extra hours without success!! They just don’t want to help and they don’t think about their reputation! On my moving out day, while the movers where finishing up the load, the “managers” came to my place and handed me an eviction notice!!!! Something that never happened to me and honestly, wasn’t expected, especially after all the communication I made with them regarding my moving out! Bottom line, if you can afford to pay a few more bucks to go to the many other complexes located at Mission then my sincere advice is to go for it, or you can rent with Foxfire, BUT AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Property Manager at Foxfire Apartments, Responded To This Review
We are sorry to hear you had a bad experience at Foxfire. This is the first it came to Foxfire attention that the A/C is loud, Foxfire maintenance tries to complete work orders within the 24 hours and if the maintenance men can not attempt to fix the problem we hire professional vendors.we have not found this to be a problem with other residents and we have not heard of anyone A/C being very loud. With Evictions our policy is to serve a eviction notice if the resident defaulted on payment or gave notice and choose the date to move out and they refused to move out on the date the they choose. Foxfire is always happy to work with someone and we extended the time frame (if Foxfire did not lease the apartment) to the date we can, we would rather the apartment be occupied then vacant. Foxfire policy is once a resident puts there apartment on notice we try to lease the apartment. Once the apartment is leased the resident on notice needs to comply with the courteous of others moving in and move out on time. We have never evicted anyone without following Kansas state laws. Foxfire Management
My roommate and I lived here for a year. When we moved in we noticed the carpet in my roommates room felt damp and smelled kind of musty. We told the staff about it and noted it on our intake form. They brought in a dehumidifier but it didn't really help much and they didn't seem interested in trying to remedy the problem further. So we just lived with it. When we moved out, we brought up the carpet again and the lady in the office acknowledged that she remembered that was a problem for us. So imagine our surprise when they took our entire deposit claiming they had to fix the carpet due to "pet urine." We never had a pet in the apartment!!! We argued with them and they didn't care what we had to say at that point and were extremely rude. They essentially stole our money for something that should have been fixed before we moved in.
Property Manager at Foxfire Apartments, Responded To This Review
Foxfire policy is that we have all carpets clean before anyone every moves in or we replace the carpet. Our policy is that we also do a walk through with the resident on the day of move in. We have found this resolve a lot of problems and any issue can be addressed before anyone moves in. Our policy is that once the apartment is walked with the leasing agent or Management staff the resident fills out the paper work and signs the paper work stating if anything is wrong with the apartment so this away we all have documentation what shape the apartment is in. If we have any issue that was brought to our attention the Property Manager is happy to walk the apartment with the resident during the time of residencies. We also offer any resident to walk the apartment with Management at the time of move out so the are aware of any charges they might be charged if any damages. Foxfire documents and takes pictures of any charges that may occur on the time of move out.
DO NOT RENT HERE, EVER! 0/5 Stars Don't be fooled by the beautiful model, it's just lipstick on a pig! If you are lucky enough to get the wrong building expect leaking ceilings, dripping within walls, the smell of your upstairs neighbor's water waste! You'll be lucky if you can use your outlets. Ours short out and make us fearful of a fire. The appliances are old, and let me quote the manager here: "We do not clean behind the fridge or oven." Your apartment will stink and be uncleaned when you receive it, and they will not try to remedy the situation. We spent DAYS cleaning the nasty, we had no choice because of our time crunch. Just watched 2 neighbors move out and they are painting the units, they were never cleaned... Utility bills will be ridiculous, windows are basically falling out of the building with no seals. Absolute misery, and rude treatment to boot.
As soon as I visited this apartment I knew I wanted it. It's so comfy that I never want to leave even to go to work lol. The only thing is I wish there were more parking spots but obviously everyone loves to be here too and that's why they're so many cars taking up our spots lol amazing place to live!
I been here for a while now the main office is great. I stay on a Lower lvl you can here ppl walking above you its mostly in the morning time when your getting ready for work. If you don't pay for a parking spot finding one at night can be a problem you would have to park far away some times a little walk never hurt I have a 2br the rooms are nice sizes the closet space is amazing you could make a whole nother room out of my walkin closet, maintenance is good as well they come when you need them.
The area is very nice and relaxed. The apartments are close to the highway and near downtown. If you want to go to a restaurant you have many choices to choose from. The leasing office is very responsive if you call with an issue. In the time I"ve been here I haven't had any issues with maintenance and staff. Friendly neighborhood and near Shawnee schools.
After a nightmare at our first apartment complex, my wife and I decided to get a townhome. Foxfire apartments are great. Not a big place so they actually care about their tenants and not turning and burning them.
I wish i did not choose this complex. Really would like to pay few extra bucks to live at place where you can enjoy your stay. Apartments are very old and poorly renovated, and with very bad insulation. You can hear everything around you which makes your life miserable when you go back home after work to get some sleep. I had to call maintenance more than 10 times and each time the office staff will tell you this is not an emergency and we are short of staff. No matter what is your complaint. Also those office staff people are very rude and would not spend any effort to help you. They will answer most of your questions with we do not know. Also will not give you your money when you refer some body " Which i did unfortunately" unless you beg them for the money, I had to call and visit the office more than 10 times to get my check and they were not happy at all. Overall i wish someone advised me not to stay here and this is why am leaving sooooooon.
The office staff are very rude and not helpful at all. They would be very nice only before and while signing the lease, after that they will show there real rude behavior. Not happy at all with my experince and would not recommend it for anyone.
Currently living at the apartments as of 7/31/14. Had a water line break in the apartment above me in the middle of the night, water started pouring into my apartment from the ceilings about 5am, I called the "emergency maintenance" number. It went to a voicemail that let me know they would be in at 8am to check the messages. 3 hours later my apartment is covered in water, my possessions are ruined and they want me to pay to have someone come move my stuff out so they can fix the apartment..... And then pay to have someone move my stuff back in! No compensation, no assistance, just tough luck. I would not recommend these apartments based solely off my dealings with management.
I didn't view any apartments at this property but I did visit the front office for information. They had been very responsive to my questions via email and very helpful. When I visited in person they were also very informative but seemed almost too busy to help me. I would ask a question or answer one of theirs and five minutes later it would come up again, like they weren't paying attention. Yes, I said I had a dog. No, I'm not moving in next week, I said next month. The staff was friendly and maintenance workers could be seen out and about cleaning up the grounds. That was definitely nice to see.
Nothing special about Foxfire. Its all electric which is a plus. Location is the killer. Access in and out is slowed by speed bumps throughout the complex. Sitting between I-35 and a big hill the complex sits at the base of hill. Your best route out of Foxfire is the access to I-35. However, if you need another exit because of traffic you other option is going up hill on Mission on side roads next to I-635. Not good in snowy conditions.
My roomate & I rented many apartments together and this was my favorite. The reasons I liked it: 2 equal sized rooms, 2 bathrooms, washer/dryer hook ups, great flowing spaces, fire place and nice porch. We looked high and low and this was the best price for the value at the time. It is close to the Mission Community Center which I loved. It is close the Plaza and Downtown. It is close to the freeway. SUPER convienent! It is not a high end apartment. It is not very sound proof... My neighbors below me were very loud with kareokee and other activities- we could hear it all. I was thankful to be on the top floor. Other than that- no complaints!
