Downtown Frederick, Maryland, lies among older, red-brick buildings as part of a 40-block historic district that dates back to Colonial times when the city served as a crossroads between Baltimore and points to the west. For 22 weekends out of the year, the downtown area hosts special events among the nearby historic buildings and park spaces. Rent an apartment along Market Street and stay close to the action.
The Tasting Room combines the best American fare with classic and unique cocktails. Brewer's Alley bills itself as the city's first brewpub, where you can choose from up to half a dozen year-round brews plus one or two seasonal selections. Weinberg Center for the Arts regularly hosts touring performances from comedians, keynote speakers, and musical acts if you want to take in a show.

Property Ratings at Francis Scott Key
I've lived in the FSK apartments for over 4 years and LOVE it! It's so wonderful to live in the heart of downtown, steps from fantastic restaurants and shops, parking, and Baker Park. On top of it all, FSK is a super clean, well-kept building—both in the apartments and the common areas. The building manager and her team are always so friendly, professional, and very helpful. On the rare occasion that I needed something addressed within my apartment it was taken care of immediately without issue. I could not be more lucky. Can't say it enough...I love living here.
I've lived at the Francis Scott Key with my two sons for a little over 2 years and we really love it. It's the coolest address in Frederick and the common areas are lovely. We have a killer view and it's incredibly quiet - especially considering it's in the center of downtown. We've had zero problems with noise, and even more remarkably, we've never had a noise complaint against us! With two teenagers and loud music, that's something! The building is that well constructed. The kitchen and bath rooms could use an update, but they are perfectly acceptable and look good with the right decor. The building is secure and safe - almost to a fault - you absolutely have to escort your visitors from the Lobby and the elevator is coded. There is an interesting mix of tenants of all ages and walks of life and everyone is friendly without being intrusive. The big complaint seems to be parking, however, because the building faces Patrick Street, you may purchase a $50 sticker and park year-round at any residential parking space and metered space (other than those on Patrick and Market) without having to move the car except on the two nights there is street cleaning. I've never had to park more than 2 blocks away, and it is rare to have to circle around more than once. I've live in NYC and DC so it's a cinch for me - and you can always rent a spot in the Court House parking garage for about $100 a month. You may also double park briefly in the loading dock area to unload groceries. The mezzanine can be rented for private parties and meetings, there's a cafe in the Lobby, a gym, and most important - a soda machine! We never get tired of coming home to the gorgeous lobby that makes you think you are checking into a fabulous and elegant hotel!
