Property Ratings at Franklin House
I have lived in a lot of different apartments all over the country and this was by far my favorite. First, the location is awesome, especially if you enjoy going on walks or jogs- less than 2 blocks away from Oakleaf Trail, and walking distance to the lakefront, Milwaukee Art Museum, War Memorial, and many other places. During the summer, its definitely a huge perk with all the festivals going on and being within walking distance or a short cab ride. I was also able to walk to school. The apartment itself is charming, and although a historical building, it is very well maintained. There's a website for trouble tickets, but on top of that, the building manager lives in the building and follows up on things without even having to ask. Honestly, my favorite part of the apartment was having such a great building manager. I have never come across such a hard working and tentative building manager-she definitely went above and beyond! (seriously, how often can you say that about an apartment?) So if you check the place out and Maria is still there, know that you are in good hands! If you have a car, and you can afford it, I highly recommend getting parking. Street parking is available throughout the year, but once all the festivals kick-off, good luck finding a spot. Honestly, the parking is pretty cheap compared to nearby apts so I went with it.

I lived here for 2 years and loved it! It is the epitome of old-wold charm: hardwood floors, crown molding, beautiful built-ins and light fixtures - all maintained impeccably. The location is great - steps from the lakefront path, walking distance to Brady, Water, or cathedral square, and a quick ride on the Hop to Third ward. You’re in good hands with Maria the manager - she is always responsive and helpful when dealing with apartment issues. In addition, she really gets to know all her tenants and creates a community in the building. Plus, with water and heating included, it’s a great deal!

Awesome place to live. The apartment building is in such a great location - walking distance to parks, bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and all of the fun that downtown has to offer - but still quiet enough around the apartment that you can relax. The landlord, Maria, is great. She is always quick to respond to questions or any needs or fixes that may come up. You never have to ask twice. The people in this apartment are so nice and helpful. Apartment itself has nice hardwood floors and plenty of room! Overall, great apartment, great location, and great management! Would for sure recommend living here to anyone!
