I was interested in the area, and got terrible vibes when I did a walkthrough. The building is falling apart and reeks. The unit I looked at was an abandoned mess and looked like somebody left without taking their stuff, much less cleaning. After I left, the manager (who gave me a tour) proceeded to call and text me 5-6 times to see if I was interested, so I blocked his number. No thanks.
I used to live here 6 years ago. I just came across this while looking. On move in day, the apartment was a wreck and disgustingly dirty. I called them immediately and offered to clean, but stipulated that I wanted to be compensated in some way and the management went nuts on me. I was younger and a bit naive, so I just took the verbal abuse. The sink wasn’t properly working the entire time I was living there and they did nothing. I also replaced the toilet seat on my own and a few other things. He also went to my apartment when I wasn’t home, without notification. Lastly, he took money out of my security deposit at the end of the lease and I left the apartment cleaner and nicer than when I moved in. run!

When I first moved in everything seems good, but the second I had a problem they were nowhere to be found. I have water damage from the apartment upstairs, and the landlord has not talked to my insurance company. Also it is now march 20th and my ceiling has not been repaired since the damage has happened and been reported February 2nd.

I rented some years ago, after this management took over; I gave them the 60 day notice, cleaned and returned keys as outlined in the move out letter. I had bought a home and after moving out, they sent me a letter demanding over 1,000 stating I had not returned the keys, had not cleaned(note they had not painted for years or fixed the bathroom); they refused to return my 365 damage deposit. Even the prior mgmt. stated they were unethical. Stay clear.

I agree with all other reviews listed here. The landlords did no walk through or check list upon move in. I cleaned the apartment for hours when I moved in to make it clean enough to be tolerable. I insisted on a walk through when I moved out. They did come, mentioned to dust the ceiling fan, which I did. Then they sent me a bill instead of my deposit with all kinds of made up charges. As also mentioned before, no one came or called back when called for having no heat or needing a repair. The names I was given of the man and woman apparently are not their real names. Why would people have to lie to their tenants about their names? Halls were gross. I mentioned that upon moving in and they said the caretaker would take care of it. Thee is no caretaker. The halls are never cleaned. If there is a working light and working machines in the laundry room you lucked out. DO NOT MOVE IN TO ANY OF THESE PEOPLE'S BUILDINGS. They are the worst landlords, greedy, selfish, do not care about their tenants. They will do everything they can to rip you off.

I am thankful I did not end up renting from this rental company. The landlords informed me I was the first to view the apartment and consequently I filled out an application and paid the $40 fee. I did not hear from management for two weeks, so after a few attempts I got a hold of "Mary," who showed me the unit. She obviously had no intention of calling me and already rented the unit. When I pressed her about the $40 application fee she got flustered, said she would look into it, and hung up. Do not waste your time or money on this place.
This place is falling apart, dirty, and poorly maintained. As the previous review mentioned, there was no walk through or check list when I moved in. Management is difficult to contact and take a long time to respond to any requests... if they decide to. If you get locked out they won't come to let you in, you'll have to sit there for God knows how long until a nice neighbor shows up. I live on the third floor and a huge chunk of my ceiling caved in one night, I was lucky I was not underneath it when that happened. It took almost a week before someone came to fix it. I had a gaping hole in my ceiling with dirt and drywall raining down on me and my things. The hallways and entryways have gross stains on the walls and are full of dirt, dead bugs, and cobwebs . I have not once seen a cleaning crew come in here. They do not take care of the outside of the building. In the fall there will be leaves up to your knees when you're trying to walk inside. The laundry room is dirty and often the machines won't work. The only good thing I can say is I like the location. I will be happy to move out of here.
This property owner has no company name, no means of contact except a phone number (or letters) and the persons you interact with will not even give you their real names. Calls for maintenance will almost always be ignored, or dealt with after a great deal of persistent calling if you're lucky. There will be no walkthrough or checklist when you sign a lease, and *any* wear or damage to the unit, whether already present or not, will be blamed on you when you move out and used as an excuse to keep your deposit and demand more money on top. Landlords and staff will also enter your unit as it suits them with zero notice (e.g. for showings, or maintenance because someone called an inspector, etc.). 2715 W 43rd St property is same ownership.
