Reed is Portland’s smallest neighborhood. This namesake neighborhood is named after Reed College, a private liberal arts school which borders the community to the south. Along with student housing, Reed features apartments and houses in a variety of styles. Rentals are moderately priced, and the area is known for its quaint architectural styles including Portland Four Squares and Cape Cod bungalows. The western part of Reed is dominated by locally owned businesses like Gigantic Brewing Company and Green Drop Garage, an eco-friendly auto garage.
Residents also enjoy proximity to some of the trendiest spots in the city. Nearby Woodstock Avenue is filled with diverse eateries, grocers, coffeehouses, and more. Quirky commercial hubs like the Hawthorne District and Downtown Portland are under four miles away from Reed. Reed provides a home to those who like convenient access to active urban life but want to come home to a laid-back locale.

Property Ratings at Garden Park Apartments
Management at Garden Park is very responsive and helpful. I like that it is very dog friendly here and that the grounds are well maintained.
As a 25 year resident, Garden Park has been a superb place to live: safe, quiet, instant response to maintenance needs. Can't ask for more than that.

We appreciate your positive review about your recent experience with us!
This is a very pleasant environment in which to live, with good maintenance provided as needed.
Property Manager at Garden Park Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!
The apartments and the grounds are well-maintained. The neighborhood is desirable. It is just a pleasant and comfortable place to live.
Property Manager at Garden Park Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hi there, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience!
Managers change very often which makes it hard to establish a relationship. Property maintenance by the landscapers has not been as good as in the past. Leaves from all the trees are not cleaned up on a regular basis and the flower beds are full of them. Also when using the blower, leaves and debris are blown all over my car.
I've lived here for 22 years and love this complex. It's lovely, safe, well maintained, staff is extraordinarily excellent and efficient.
I've been a resident at Garden Park Apartments for 10 months. This is my first experience with renting. I have been satisfied with the quality of maintenance of the grounds and of my own apartment. Any questions which have been few, are always promptly answered.
I've enjoyed my first 8 months living at Garden Park Apartments. Management attends to building upkeep and repairs, maintenance of all the lawn/garden spaces with the seasons.
Affordable housing, really quiet neighborhood. We love it here
I appreciate the quiet interior space and closeby nature outside. The apartment was ready on my move on day. Communication with office and maintenance staff has met my needs.
I love Garden Park!! Best place Ive ever rented from, no cap!
I don't have anything good to say right now. In the past we have had excellent management and great maintenance people. Not anymore.
Garden Park truly lives up to its name, offering gorgeous green-space living in the heart of Portland.
The property is well maintained and in a great location. We appreciate how quiet the community is. Management is quick to respond to messages/calls, as is maintenance.
We enjoy living at Garden Park. The apartment overall is spacious and my favorite part is the balcony which overlooks the garden. The garden space is really nice to have for hanging out and is visually very nice. I have had some stuff stolen while living here so be aware of that possibility. If you can afford it I think the in unit washers and dryers and worth the extra money just because its a long way to the laundry building and also because its really hard to get enough quarters for it these days.
Management and maintenance staff are quite nice and quick to resolve issues. The apartments themselves are merely ok. The walls are paper thin and I suspect that they are devoid of any insulation. I feel like I live in a walk-in refrigerator.
I have lived here for 11 years, and would not consider moving anywhere else. I love my apartment, and the location, (Close in East side).
We have been here for almost ten years. Our experience has been very positive. Staff responds to requests that may come about in a very professional, courteous and expeditious manner. We have, and will continue to recommend this property to possible future tenants. Daniel C.
Beautiful complex with friendly and professional management!
Over the years, my experience has been positive here, however, with the constant changes in management it has not been the same in many ways. Prior to Greystar taking over, management teams were here for several years at a time.
Great location close to downtown. Office staff is friendly, prompt, and made up of people who understand that things aren't always going to go according to plan. They've been extremely willing to hear concerns, and do attempt to resolve issues when possible. When not, ice always been given reasons why, and alternate solutions is available. The apartments are nice and modern. Complex has tons of parking and green space throughout. Lots of amenities available, once we actually flatten the curve on Covid-19.
It's great on all accounts. I'm grateful and appreciative of this apartment complex. Bravo/a to its team!!
Garden Park has been a wonderful place to plant roots in Portland. Our neighbors are friendly and quiet, and our six-year-old loves the wide-open green spaces right outside our patio. Any maintenance requests are promptly taken care of. Overall, a great place to live!
Nice spread out property, without neighbors on top of each other. Lots of storage and big closets.
It is a great place to live. Clean, efficient, properly working amenities, and really pretty landscaping. Garden Park is a 10/10!
I've lived at Garden Park for almost 25 years. That in itself is the best recommendation I can possibly give. It's a great place to call home!
My wife and I have been here almost 9 years, and we love the property and the staff!
We enjoy living here.
I've been a resident for 20 years and for good reasons: lovely apartment, almost instant maintenance on anything needing repair, safety, proximity to 2-bus lines, fine neighborhood, fine staff!!!
This is a great place to live in a wonderful location highly recommend it
The maintenance service here is very good, so far.
Garden park is our home. We know our neighbors and my kids have spent most of their lives living here. It is a great community with great people. Oh, the apartments are pretty great too
Love living here. The apartments are well maintained and people are pretty friendly.
Garden Park is far more than a "roof over one's head." It's been my home for almost 24 years, and I hope that never changes!
Ive lived here for ten years and a, satisfied in every way. Kudos to responsiveness and upkeep!
Garden Park has been generally a great, low-drama place to live throughout our (currently) nine months of residency. While I don't have enough information/experience about the new residence staff to make a solid judgment, they do seem nice and very helpful about concrete issues I've had
We have been here at Garden Park for 8 years now. Over the course of that time period, we have been very pleased with the staff and the proficiency with how the property is managed and maintained.
I have lived at Garden Park Apartments since 2014. The grounds are beautiful and the buildings well maintained. The property management and maintenance staff have always been very helpful, courteous, and pleasant. I highly recommend this apartment complex.
I am very happy with Garden Park. The staff is professional , great location. beautiful grounds, spacious rooms and friendly people. A great staff of people
This is a great place to live, and they do their best to fix things as quickly as possible when they do go wrong
I am very happy with my apartment home and Garden Park Apartments
We are very happy living at Garden Park and there services. The maintenance has been excellent. Residence friendly & location great.
I have lived for 11 years and have always found it a comfortable, beautiful, supportive community.
Garden Park is a very lovely place to live - a veritable oasis in SE Portland. The grounds are unusually beautiful and everything is well-maintained. Office staff are simply the best, helpful, knowledgeable, and kind.
It is a beautiful, well maintained, conveniently located facility in which to live.
We have been very happy with our living experience at Garden Park. I like the location, common areas, & size of rooms. All in all we are very happy with Garden Park.
We moved into Garden Park about a month ago and so far it's been amazing! Rhys, the manager of the complex, is as nice and accommodating as can be-- he really worked with us to make our long-distance move as smooth as possible. Ed, the Maintenance supervisor, has been equally helpful and our maintenance requests have been attended to within a few hours of being made. The pool and complex grounds are beautiful and clean, with abundant flowers and greenery. They even have picnics and wine and cheese nights throughout the year here! Oh and it's about 3 minutes from a Trader Joe's and close to several fun neighborhoods. I guess what I'm saying is-- you should live here.

Right next to Reed College, renters are a mix of students and long-term residents. This part of town feels like a suburb, but is easy bus rides (or bike rides, drives, or slightly-less-easy walking) away from downtown Portland or other "happening" parts of the city. The apartment itself has good space, and while it's a little old the current management is quick to respond to any issues and is also making some major modernizing improvements. For example they replaced the windows with well-insulated ones a couple of years ago, and are doing a major plumbing overhaul this year (though I want to note I never had any plumbing issues, they're doing this as a preventative measure).
