Property Ratings at Garden Springs
Maintenance is always really quick to resolve any issue that might come up! Really appreciate them.
The maintenance team is top notch. They're always quick to respond to requests.
Love this community. The maintenance team is excellent at getting things done and as fast as possible for the residents. Garden Springs in Chester is the Apartment I ever lived in. Thank you the team of this community apartment
My new Nest thermostat said it had “no power” about a week after it was installed and maintenance was there to service it immediately and he fixed it within an hour. The whole maintenance crew are always so polite and helpful and quick to respond to requests, emergencies and non-emergencies alike!
After visiting the other apartments in our area, Garden Springs was the only real choice we could make. Apartment size; surroundings; amenities; personnel are still the best I have found. Lorraine in the office is always helpful with answers and suggestions; Ben runs a tight maintenance crew, and Renard has that pleasant, persona that makes you feel that he is there just to take care of you and your apartment. We are just signing our next contract and cannot be happier with our Garden Springs Home.
The apartments are spacious and clean and the maintenance person is always nice, quick to come and gets the job done in a timely manner.
Apartments are well maintained, staff is prompt and ready to assist with any questions or issues. I’ve contacted maintenance for a few tweaks in my apt and Renard has been great with fulfilling those requests.
Going on our third year here! We always receive great service. Renard Brooks and the rest of the maintenance crew is always prompt and courteous when anything is needed! Thanks for everything!
I lived here for 5 years and felt safe, enjoyed the amenities (garage, car wash, pool), and ideal location. Maintenance was always responsive and management tries hard to keep everyone satisfied.
I previously lived at Garden Springs for two years and chose to move to Petersburg in July 2013 because the rent was cheaper there. That was the biggest mistake I could've ever made. The *slightly* less expensive rent in Petersburg in NO WAY makes up for what I had at Garden Springs (safety, security, staff who actually care, well-maintained property, plus the amenities). In fact, a huge reason why I am moving back to Garden Springs is because the area is SO much safer than where I live now in Petersburg. And trust me, feeling safe and secure is priceless. In addition, another major factor in my decision to move back is because the staff at Garden Springs is so great! Everyone in the leasing office has bent over backwards to help assist me with moving back to Garden Springs. They've been nothing but very pleasant and accommodating. By the way, the staff's friendliness, attentiveness, caring, and concern doesn't end once the lease is signed - to me, this shows how much they really do care about their residents. Again, this is major because having staff of such great quality is extremely rare and makes all the difference in the world, as I have learned. Having lived here before, I already know the quality of the apartments is good (MUCH better than where I chose to move to in Petersburg). The noise is minimal, unlike where I currently live. The staff at Garden Springs makes sure the property is well-maintained and that everything is in proper working order, both inside your apartment and on the property itself. This might not sound like a big deal, but it is - especially after having moved to a place where things are constantly breaking (and staying broken or taking months to get fixed). There's just no comparison. I truly regret having moved from Garden Springs in the first place - it definitely was not worth the few bucks it saved me, but it was definitely a lesson learned. I cannot WAIT to move back here. If you are in the market for an apartment, please consider Garden Springs. After the experience I have been through, Garden Springs is the ONLY apartment community that I will ever live in.
This apartment complex has great floor plans, aminitoes, high quality apartments. The complex is maintained very well and quiet family area of Chester, VA and also close to police station and shopping in Chesterfield VA.
I lived in Garden Springs for about 7 months and just moved out today only because I got orders to move to Texas. My experience at Garden Springs was one of the best I have had when it comes to apartment living. Beth worked with me as I had a large dog and had to get settled quickly. Ken and his maintenance team was outstanding. They always resolved issues quickly and was great around my dog. As far as the apartments themselves...they are nice and the floor plans are great. I enjoyed the socials they Beth and her team put together as I was able to meet other in the apartment complex and make new friends. I would definitely recommend Garden Springs to others.
Overall, the complex and apartment are very nice. The soundproofing is not as good as it could be - I know when my neighbor is in the shower and I can hear my upstairs neighbor moving around sometimes. Management generally does a good job although the tone of the emails they send out can be condescending and confrontational.
I love Garden Springs! I have been in the community for just over 2 years. It is a beautiful complex and has always been well taken care of. I'm proud to show friends and family where I live. The rent is in the higher range for Chester but I feel it is worth it. I feel safe and don't have any worries about coming in after dark. Whenever breezeway lights go out, the staff has them fixed within a day or so. All maintenance requests are fulfilled asap. I've never waited more than 24 hours for completion. The newest maintenance staff are very knowledgable and feel trustworthy. As some of the other reviewers have mentioned, yes, the office staff has turned over a decent amount in the past 2 years. However, I have faith in the new staff. I have spoke with them at length, multiple times. They are really concerned about getting this place into the organized manner that it always needed to be. They are by-the-book when it comes to rules, which I'm sure can be a pain for some residents. However, I personally PREFER rules because that is what keeps a place superior! If rules are not adhered to, then typically other things tend to lag too. Not to mention, blurred boundaries can lead to a lot of problems when a whole community of residents are concerned. The office staff is very friendly and really does want to help the residents to love living in Garden Springs! If you have problems, they are very willing to talk to you and to try to resolve it right away. If it's against their policy or whatever, they will be straightforward and tell you so. You know where they stand, a HUGE plus for running a business! The only complaint that I have is that the floors are thin. I haven't noticed the walls being bad in terms of noise but the upstairs person walking is heard. It is more like living in a house with an upstairs. That can be really disturbing at times but if you have good communication with your neighbors, you can let them know and hopefully they will be kind to refrain from too much walking around when you're trying to sleep! Otherwise, the construction is good and all the fixtures/appliances are in great shape! A lot of apartment complexes buy scratch and dent appliances but not this complex. If they did, you could never tell. If you read the other reviews on this site, please take them with a grain of salt. Garden Springs is not perfect, by any means. Who is?! I do know that not every building will give you the same experience, due to different residents, etc. However, this is a wonderful place and well worth considering for your new home. I really do love it here!
I LOVE the floor plans here and all the natural light! The breakfast/sunroom is my favorite. I have never seen so much much storage in an apartment before. I have more drawers in my bathrooms than I know what to do with. I have a coat closet, pantry, HUGE laundry room, a full storage on my patio and ton's of cabinets and drawers. The office staff is great and really nice and professional. I sometimes feel bad for them because they are new and people seems to think they were hired knowing everything. I hire new people all the time and if I saw people treating my employees the way some of these residents treat the office staff here I I\would be furious. I was in the office one day ad saw a guy freaking out on the ladies in the office because he received a notice that his rent was late...how do you not know that you didn't pay your rent???? It's not the office staff's fault if you didn't read your lease. I disagree with the fact that they are making things "too" strict. They are enforcing what is in the legal agreement you signed. The rules that are in the lease are in every lease I have ever signed and I think they are doing their job by enforcing them. They are there for a reason. I prefer them to enforce all the rules so I can stay a happy resident. I wish they could do something about all the people who let their dogs urinate on the grass in front of the buildings. The lease says they are supposed to walk them on the perimeter of the property. I used to have nice grass in front of my building and now there are these ugly brown spots. I have had my guests comment about it. Too bad people don't have consideration for other people property and living areas. I think if you have a problem with the rules, you should go somewhere else. I prefer to have neighbors that want this place to stay nice. For others reading these posts, read in between the lines of disgruntled posters. There is a reason they don't like the rules...they are the ones you'll be complaining about because they can't follow them. It is a great place to live and the office staff is very active in making sure this place stays nice and that you are happy. BTW the maintenance guys are great too!! They are so sweet and personable.
This property has by far the best customer service. Staff is SUPER friendly and always willing to assist in your needs. Very clean and nice. Location is convenient to everything and price for the value is awesome!!!
I moved in a few months back and have enjoyed living here. Prior to living here I was downtown and found it too congested for my taste. My apartment is comfortable and has all the amenities I need. Also very quiet which is nice. The office staff has been friendly and responsive to any requests I have made to date so I don't have any problems there. Prior to moving in at GS, I looked at several options including apartments, houses and condos in and around the west end. Decided against the west end due to all the traffic in the area. Here in Chesterfield I can hit all major highways with a short drive. Happy to be living here.
I am with Gabale that posted recently. My lease is up soon and I will not be returning. Two sets of office staff in 6 months....and the current staff receives a -0-. Not helpful, do not address complaints, one of the ladies in particular is "snippy". As a neighbor recently told me at the pool, it feels like you are a bother anytime you have a question. Grounds used to be immaculate, not anymore. Dog park is lacking. Doggie receptacles are not emptied daily; pool has became so strict, it is no longer an enjoyment (no noodles, no anything due to a recent party that no one new about until residents brought to attention of manager! Layout is nice, flooring and appliances too. The carpet is of the poorest quality; I have called twice about the seam ripping in the carpet - which was new when I moved in! Was assured someone would look at, never happened. I really wish I could give a positive review but I can't.....very sad that such a nice complex has went down. And if you are considering because of safety with it being listed as "a private gated community".....think again. The gate has been broken for a month. And it doesn't provide security, people come in all the time by following someone else. Just explaining my opinion here, I would suggest one interested in these apartments, evaluate and ask questions: such as, what policy/protocol do you have for resolving problems with noise? The apartments just down the street actually DO have a policy and if they have three complaints, they will terminate the tenants lease. I have asked to see the policy in writing..... never happened; most likely because there isn't one. And the management complains about the grass being ruined by pets urinating: yet there isn't anywhere to walk them!!! And lastly, parking is horrible if you don't have a garage. If you come in past 9PM, be prepared to walk a few blocks.
In the past 6 months management has changed hands several times. As it changes hands the resident relations seemingly get worse. There are 0 community events anymore, but plenty of advertisements for referring someone (just check facebook and count). To be fair it is little pricey but the quality of the apartments is there. It is in a safe neighborhood, and relatively spacious, I will also give props to the maintenance staff, as although have also changed around a lot recently they have always been top notch. Cons are the pool is only open business hours, and you have to be signed in to even use it. Complaints are accepted and not even researched before accusing parties of wrong doing. They discontinue drop box without notifying residents except on a piece of paper attached to it, so if you didn't use it till necessary you are out of luck. The playground area for kids consist of a set of swings, and a lame climb wall and hang bars. One trash container which at times fills up and needs to be emptied more often cause when the wind hits it, depending what building you live in you smell it. Their is only one dog park, small, and under equipped. My year lease is ending soon and I am more willing than not to try the grass on the other side
