Property Ratings at Garden Village
I rented an apartment for two years with Manor Village. I enjoyed the location and how affordable the rent was. The safety and security of the property however is deplorable. We heard gunshots and sirens continuously all night and day, literally. Someone from the maintenance staff would come in to my unit without my knowledge or approval and even left holes in the wall which I was charged for. The first apartment I moved in to was inhabitable. While it was remodeled, it was filled with roaches and mice. I was moved to another apartment. The second unit was not remodeled but in the leasing office building so it was quiet. I was making due with what we had until one day my son and I were caught in a crossfire in broad daylight, while trying to enter our building. We were unharmed but I could no longer ignore the severity of the situation. My husband and I met with the Leasing office. I was told to stay "prayed up" and the manager even told us that he experiences the same situations himself in Aberdeen,MD. I'd be a fool to believe that. We were treated as if being unsafe was normal and something we should get used to. Needless to say, I had already moved out before the meeting took place and I never looked back or even thought twice about it.
location near doctor's office, playground, schools, metro and shopping
I have lived here for 14 months now, and the neighborhood has got worse than when I first moved in. I am ready to take my family to bigger and better place. My kids cant go outside and play, its to messy. Not good enough management. There are so many things wrong, my family deserves alot better.
I HAVE A 2 BEDROOM WITH A 2 BATHROOMS FOR A VERY GOOD REASONABLE PRICE. THE MAINTENANCE HAS GOTTEN BETTER DUE TO NEW MANAGEMENT TAKING OVER. THE LIVING ROOM AND KITCHEN BAR IS VERY SPACIOUS AND MODERN. LIVED HERE SINCE JULY 2011.
This place has been real nice. but it takes two ,to make things operate really smooth...management C plus.....my walk score is not bad , shops ,library ,grocery gets my A ,my unit is still good but I am in the market for another touch of class that some hardwood floors can and will provide great days on hot nights...
Positive... Manor Village apartments are one of those apartments you live at if your not looking to pay crazy rent. If your looking for cheap rent this is the place. They usually have good specials going on also.... Now to the negative... My experience with trying to get an apartment here was horrible 1.The first TWO apartments I was shown was occupied by another person, I believe we even walked in on someone. 2. After finding an apartment and paying half my security deposit for that specific apartment I was called by COMCAST (not Manor Village themselves) saying that someone is trying to get an account at the address that was under my name (I had took the liberty of beginning to set up my utilities believing that this was the apartment I was moving into) AND that the individual had a lease. I hung up with Comcast called Manor Village only to find out that another "leasing agent" had gave away my apartment because that individual was able to pay the security deposit in FULL, granted all the apartment had to do was pick up the phone and call me and ask if was able to pay in full because someone else is interested in the apartment, then we could have taken steps from there. It seems like they were just trying to make a sale to meet whatever goals they have. 3. After finding another apartment and paying my security deposit and 1st month rent I thought everything was good to go.. WRONG 2 days before going to sign my lease I received a call from the "property manager" saying that she was reviewing my lease and saw I was moving into a 2BR but i was "approved" for a 1BR. Then went onto say it must have been a "mix up" I explained to her it was NOT a mix up and showed her emails of my discussion with the leasing agent where I was quoted THIS price for rent for my 2br, and THIS price for security deposit for the 2br. (which is still in my phone till this day) Furthermore all their records shown all the apartments I was shown, which were ALL 2BR. So where was all that extra money I paid going to??? That was the last straw, I asked for a full refund of my security deposit and 1st months rent which they gave back to me AFTER already having stamped my Money Order to send to the bank LOL. Its clear you can't teach people how to be professional. Like I said, you pay for what you get. Yeah the rent is decent but who wants to give their hard earned money to a company that treats people like that BEFORE even moving in. OHHHHH and they also don't tell you until your about to move in that you have to supply your own A/C window unit and the heat is turned on and off at certain times of the year.
I really enjoyed looking at these apartments, they are very convenient to everything you may need.
