Steeped in history and unique culture, Baltimore is among America’s most culturally-rich cities. Centuries spent as a major port city have contributed to a diverse mix of influences, resulting in the eclectic range of food and art found in Baltimore today. The relatively compact layout of the city makes life a bit easier for pedestrians and cyclists — it also means that, even though the city is home to over 600,000 people, it retains the feel of a much smaller community. The city’s neighborhoods display a huge degree of variety, ranging from rowhouses to high-rise apartments to charming suburban subdivisions.
It’s an excellent city for sports fans, with the Orioles and the Ravens representing Baltimore in the big leagues. The arts community is quite active in Baltimore as well, largely thanks to the Maryland Institute College of Art and the huge Artscape festival that draws thousands every May.

Property Ratings at Gardenvillage Apartments & Townhouses
I’ve live at garden village twice in my lifetime. Once for elementary school in the next when I was in my last year of high school plus another year after high school. The living conditions are livable. But will be prepared to see mice and daddy long leg spiders. Granted I’ve only lived in the townhomes so I don’t know about the apartments living conditions. But with the amenities included and price for Living space, it’s cheap living. Not to mention The workers in the rental office are very rude. There’s only really been where occasions where to catch them not rude. If you have a car try your best to keep parking in the backyard because if you Park it on the street it will get hit. Neighbors are nosy but friendly. Walls are very thin. But like I said before it is cheap living so you get what you pay for.
maintenance NEVER comes! and these apartments have mice and roaches BAD!!!!!
The maintenance NEVER comes out, They make you call a million times b4 you get an answer and when you do the rental office workers are unprofessional. Just don’t do it
Had a leak in my living room from the rain which cracked through my walls i called maintenance & it took over 2 weeks for someone to come out & when they finally did come they did a half job paint look as if it is dropping down my wall. I called in about my living room closet door coming off & still no one has come out, ive had to fix my bedroom & kitchen doors from coming off the latch

If you like living with mice these are the apartments for you. They send an exterminator around if you ask, but as long as your apartment is the only one being treated it is pointless because they will find their way back in your apartment. The buildings are dirty, the neighborhood has a lot going on, and maintenance does not fix anything! You can call and call and call but I’ve had things that needed to be fixed for months now. I cannot wait until my lease is up! I’m counting down the days smh

This is the worst place I’ve ever moved into. This was two of the hardest years I’ve ever had living here. Old windows, old flooring. old carpet, small closet. Remolding is way pass due. They need to remodel these places . I’m so happy to be moving out this year. Check this out they change my kitchen floor after I complained so much about that old ugly out date floor that was put in back in the eighties, so they had the nerve to send me a letter saying if I renewed my lease the rent would increase by $30 , I guess I would be paying for that new cheap flooring that they put in , they want get me I’m out. I’m saying goodbye to my little four legged long tail friends. and the plastic on my windows to keep in my heat. Goodbye dump never again. I wouldn’t tell my worst enemy to move here.
They charge you for extras but nothing around herr works i call maintenance everyday. Everything needs to be fixed around here. And when you want them to do their job then they find reasons to fine you. Then everything you do is against your lease terms
I live here for7 years since I been harassed by people in the rent office.l accuse connecting cable wire outside my window and now my is lease Terminated .they never check neighbors see if anyone was Connect to that wire. Dont move here
I really wish I never moved into garden village. They are so rude and unprofessional. When I first came there I ask for a specific set of things one in particular being the school (because the complex accommodates several schools) and that I needed to move into a unit where my children would be able to attend a specific school. I even chose one of the more pricey units because of this. The assured me that the place I was getting would get me that school. It was only after I signed the lease and tried to register my kids for school that I found out I had been lied to and swindled. Now I been living there for seven months and I hate it. they don't fix anything, they charge you $77 to cut your grass and you didn't ask them too. They are only interested in getting your money. They care nothing about they residents who live there.
I have a two bedroom apartment. It's a quiet area and the neighbors are nice, but the when I moved in nothing was done yet and they had 2 months to fix my apartment. The tub had to be varnished, carpet cleaned, holes or marks that had to be covered and painted. Also, there is no central air, they have it but you have to pay more money. There is air condition window units in my room and the living room but not in my son's room. To get one in his room it is extra money onto my rent a month. To get a balcony that is more money also, so I just dont have one and no one comes to clean the carpet in the buildings and there is a odor from time to time. I do love that there is a code to get into the building and alarm in each home. My unit is spacious but for what you pay there should be more amenities.
The staff is very professional and courteous, any maintenance issues are dealt with in a timely manner. From leasing to move-in, the staff keeps in constant contact. Stores and public transportation are within reasonable walking distance, and the school bus is available to transport children to and from school. Covering the Baltimore City and County line, it's like getting the best of both worlds without being too far in the city, and too far in the county. There is ample parking, playgrounds, and a community center. I was convinced when I saw the sample that this would be "My new home" and so it is; I must say it's turning out to be the best move I've made yet!
I have been living at Grdenvillage for a year. If you are just moving out on your own the have great starter apartments and have very affordable prices. The location is kind of in between the city and county area and has plenty of shops nearby walking distance and its on the bus line if you dont have your own transportation. My building is very quiet my neighbors are friendly and everyone is very helpful. I loved it here !!
I moved into my apartment at Gardenvillage in June 2015. Before I moved in I went to check it out to let them know what needed to be fixed and nothing was fixed before I moved in, terrible. They had to fix many things after I moved in and the they really dont care how they fix things. they still have window units for air conditioning, so I asked if they can put something around it so bugs dont crawl in and they put some gray foam around it and it looks nasty. they want the rent on time and will call you, but they dont keep the halls clean and in order for my son to get an air conditioner in his room they will put it in but i have to pay for it. It would be added onto my rent because we cant have our own air conditioners put in.
I thought I was upgrading from my previous apartment with Sage mgmt. that was a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom with regional mgmt at Gardenvillage. Before I moved I told the rental office what needed to be fixed over 3 times i went to look at it. When I moved in, it still was not fixed. They had to fix my issues when I moved in and the terrible painting they did was horrible. To pay over $800 a month for a two bedroom is terrible with window unit air conditioner and my son does not have an air conditioner in his room. You have to let the rental office put it in for an additional 10 a month on your rent. I love the area because its quiet, but the playground for the kids is terrible. It could be a little better.
I've been renting with Gardenvillage for 3 years now, my first year my apartment was broken into. They told me that it was my fault, I then explained to them that it was not and demanded to be moved into a new place. It was their fault because they failed to make sure that my windows all had screens in them even after I contacted maintenance they failed to comply. I called them because i found a mouse after hours they refused to send someone out and told me that I had to wait until someone came in during the day, what's the point in having an on call maintenance if they're not going to do anything. Snow removal was atrocious it's literally like pulling teeth to get them to even attempt to shovel out part of the parking lot so that people can leave. Not to mention it took them 5 months to come fix my blinds after I repeatedly called about it. Furthermore a lot of the workers are rude, when you point out certain things to them they act like they could care less. Beware they will autorenew you lease, if you give them a day less than 90 they will take your security deposit. It's also a bit disheartening that the direct office can not give you a clear and concise answer about anything.
I have lived here for about 3 years with little to no issues. My neighbors are respectful and private for the most part. I live in a studio size apartment which is great and perfect for 1 person. The maintenance crew is nice and usually quick to make the repairs that are requested. No crime or break ins that I have encountered. There are stores in every direction that serve pretty much any need. The one thing I did not like was that when I told them that my living room was still 87 degrees even with the one unit running, they pretty much told me that I was on my own and showed no compassion. They told me that I could not get an additional AC unit or central AC in my apartment because of the size;which was strange because I had central Heat. After I purchased my own AC it was ok, just ok. So the only thing that I would suggest is that if you like your apartment livable and comfortable, buy an AC unit for the room and stay in there. Everything else i couldn't complain about because is wasn't bad for the price I paid.
