Replace Smoke Detector German did a great job of quickly replacing my smoke detectors. My only issue is that when I submitted my ticket, I received an email indicating that I would be called shortly. I wasn’t contacted until the next day.

The drawback that would maybe caveat my recommendation to family or friends is that Building 1 is "older" and has some older building challenges - slow moving drains/pipes due to build up of hard water stuff in the pipes, elevator that regularly takes multi-day breaks. Also not happy with wifi - even now with new optimum - it can only be as good as the building install - and I don't get the speeds that I pay for.

Beautiful grounds. Well kept and very neighborly. Apartment is updated and service us always attended to quickly.
The annual amenity fee is a bit steep - especially considering they were in limited use during the pandemic. Rent was also a little on the pricey side when escalators went into effect when renewing the lease each year - sometimes my rent was more than a new move in. Otherwise great community.,

The complex has everything you would need, especially cleanliness and security.
We downsized from a ten-room house and find a two-bedroom apartment well suited to our needs because of the closet space and the openness of the balcony.
Slow internet; occasional problems with package delivery; at 20 years of age, the apartment is showing some signs of wear. The landscaping is wonderful; the location and amenities are great.
Internet is not up to par. Distracting that fire alarms always go off - if there was ever a fire, no one will take it seriously.,?time to update washer/dryer - front load.
Gaslight is a friendly, efficient and happy community. Everyone on the staff makes you feel at home.

If you dont depend on the internet or consistent tv service and just want a nice apartment it could be right for you, especially for short term situations. If you enjoy the sound of neighbors every move above and below and can sleep through anything this could be right for you.

I used to like this place but it has gone way down in my estimation. First of all, the rent increases yearly are onerous for someone on a fixed income. Then, the management changes have been frequent, and each replacement seems to be a little less effective than the one before. I have the sense that as this complex ages, Bozzuto is more and more using it as a training ground or a place to park employees who are not doing a great job. I no longer feel that it's value for money.

HORRENDOUS INTERNET SERVICE. It is a shame too. Other than the unacceptable internet service we are forced to purchase (< 1 MBPS), Gaslight is a great place to live with beautiful grounds and apt, nice amenities and a great staff. Unfortunately the mgmt company continues to drag it's feet on correcting the internet issue for 2 years.

People moved in below us and used their balcony as a smoking lounge (despite the very clear no smoking on the grounds policy) so we couldn't use our windows or balcony and our laundry room smelled like cigarettes. Despite us complaining weekly for 6 months when they smoked, the management always put the burden of proof on us. Even after sending photos they still believed the excuses and did nothing. So we moved out.

I am about half way through my first lease here and I chose this to the sister property given the floorplans. I understand the gym was recently renovated, but it isn't well maintained. It pales in comparison to Third and Valley's amenities. I have seen quite the turn over in the leasing office (I would like to note that Lisa is very helpful and prompt) and with the ongoing maintenance problems I have experienced with heat, air conditioning, water pressure and the garbage disposal, that has been rather frustrating. I hope that these issues are resolved soon so that I may begin to really enjoy my time here.

We lived at Gaslight Commons the past year and thought it was very nice. We would have stayed if not moving to another state. The pros for us were the community was well kept, the residents generally pleasant, and the staff was wonderful. They really went the distance to make you feel comfortable and attend to your needs, maintenance or otherwise. The cons were that rent felt a bit high for the distance from Manhattan, but in line with other larger properties. Additionally, there were semi-frequent fire alarms that would send the residents outside in the evening (maybe once every couple months), but the fire station is close so it was always resolved quickly. Also WiFi seemed to go out more often than one would expect (maybe 3-4 times in the year we were there) and take longer to fix than one would expect (1-3 days). Overall the upsides more than offset the couple small downsides. Also better value than 3rd and Valley. Close to the train and a short walk to beautiful houses on Ridgewood Rd.

Gaslight Commons is a wonderful place to live. The apartment layouts are well thought out, the building staff is professional and cordial, there are many stores and restaurants within walking distance and the proximity to NYC makes commuting very easy.

Moved here sight-unseen from overseas. The staff made it easy to apply online, and we got a very nice apartment on the top floor overlooking a small park -- quiet, with lots of greenery. The complex has a good sized pool for relaxing from Memorial Day through Labor Day. (It's only 5 feet deep, although South Orange has a full sized community pool not far away.) The apartment itself is well appointed with high quality fixtures and appliances, and the 2 bedroom is a good layout for two adults and a child. So far we haven't had any problems with bugs or sounds leaking in from other units.

Gorgeous open floor plan with updated luxury appliances. Floor to ceiling windows for incredible natural light in all seasons. We love our walk in closet that is nearly the size of our bathroom. Functional and modern storage in the closet, cabinets, laundry room and linen closet keep us organized and neat! We have a one bedroom but the space is so inviting and large that we entertain as much as we can. Arched ceilings add character and charm from the entry way to our hallway. We are a 30 second walk from the train which takes less than 35 minutes to NYC. Love exploring fun local bars and delicious restaurants within the community. We have enjoyed the communal amenities with a generous selection of equipment in the gym, a beautiful and well maintained pool and fire pits and grills for outdoor fun. We love having a close knit feeling of community so close to NYC!
The best place anywhere! I am a single parent of two boys that live in NYC. They don't have cars since they live in the city. I moved here 4 years ago so I could travel to New York and they could travel to NJ. It's the best of both worlds, city and suburbs. What's not to like, everything is at my finger tips, entertainment, shopping, trees, tennis and more plus pool gym, and more. Oh the staff, simply the best!
Clean well run building with good size apartments. Only reason it is not getting 5 stars is because of the wifi and Cable they provide. It's slow and unreliable.

I moved to Gaslight Commons about two months ago. My overall experience has been great. Most of the leasing staff are really nice and super accommodating. The move-in process was easy and mostly pain free (the pain was from moving in general..no one likes to move!). Any maintenance issues I've had have been solved quickly. The apartments have updated fixtures, flooring and granite counter tops. The pool is fantastic and the gym is well equipped. The leasing office holds packages, so no worries that things will get stolen in the mail rooms! My only complaint is the internet and the mandated cost we need to pay per month for cable and internet. In addition to the rent, we are required to pay $60 a month for 5MBPS internet and basic SD DirectTV. 5MBPS internet is equal to internet from 2005, and the only upgrade option is to 10MBPS for an additional $20 a month. It's nearly impossible to stream Netflix or Amazon On Demand, and with DirecTV the On Demand option is via wifi, so you can't watch anything on demand. Overall quite frustrating when trying to work from home or watch a movie and the internet barely works. But it's a well-maintained building, close to town and I'm overall happy I moved here.
