Property Ratings at Gatewater Apartments
Me and my mother have lived here the past 5 years . There was a murder right in the entrance to the complex next to the leasing office , cars are regularly being stolen out of our parking lot . Random people pull up and fire guns off the pier like they're fishing or something and regular breaking to vacant apartments and don't even get me started on the management which will change again within the next year or two like it always does
Setting up a tour appointment was difficult and confusing. I called several times about a week before I wanted to see the complex and never got to spoke to a real person, and eventually had to make an appointment through their automated system that gave me a time and took my name, but didn't let me leave any contact information. I received no follow up leading up to the tour but still decided to show up for the time slot. I arrived 30 min early and they had their 'out of office until X time' sign so it seemed like someone would eventually arrive in time for my tour. While waiting, another couple walked up and let me know they had a time slot an hour before me and they were still waiting. While we stood outside the door we could hear a family screaming and playing loud music so it seems like the walls/doors are a bit thin. When my time slot arrived, no one from the leasing office had showed up so I drove home. About an hour later I get a call from the leasing office, I explained that no one is there and she apologized and said that they had 'stepped out for a few minutes'. She offered to reschedule and I declined. Perhaps it was an off day for them but if I was a tenant there and had an issue where I needed to talk to someone in the office over the phone or in person I don't like the fact that I couldn't get in contact with someone for the better part of a week.
My name is Katherine Benjamin. I have lived here for about 8yrs. I love the spaciousness of my 1bedroom apartment! I love the sounds of the geese on the water , ducks, people fishing, crabbing, etc. It's quiet and peaceful. I go to the dock and often pray; as I feel God here. The leasing stFf and maintenance staff are friendly and helpful! You will love it here!
In the summer of 2020, I had no AC for months, just a small window unit; I didn't use any room in my apartment except my bedroom. Hole in my dining room for 6 months d/t leakage. I had to cover it with poster board to stop spiders and bugs. Hole in my bathroom ceiling for 2 months d/t leakage. The bathroom leaked for the entire 2 months as well.. The hole damages still are not fixed! Drywall is up but it is embarrassing! Not to mention the washing machine that is now rusted bc water sat in it since before summer. The washer has been reported multiple times over a 3 year span, no replacements have been made nor has it been fixed.
Rat infestations in all units- I moved in with rat holes in my kitchen and maintenance has taken weeks to address the issue. And their idea of fixing the issue is covering it up. They just want to fill their vacant units they could care less about you.
Do not move to this place , it’s not pleasant at all , my biggest mistake moving there . Rent goes high every year , Management suck , maintenance extremely slow (if your appliance or any other thing break down it will take more then man one month to repair . Dog park over flow with dog poo ,it smell like you living in a slum . Smell of marijuana everywhere, kids drive dirt bikes and stunt at the parking lot make noise to extreme and unbearable .
I moved here last June I do not recommend this place!! Please save your money and energy!!! If I knew what I know about this place, I would not moved here!!! It’s expensive and terrible management!!! A lot bugs when it’s hot !! Parking is limited and people get towed a lot if you park on visitor ! manager is very rude! Please save your money and time !!!
This is customer service at its worst. I have not experienced customer service so bad. Stay away from this place period.
ROACHES, ROACHES, ROACHES GALORE! I currently live here and my home was infiltrated with roaches upon arrival (June 2018, it’s now November 2018) and I am still experiencing a bug issue. The building next to me has an extreme roach issue as well reported by tenants of the building. Terrible management with poor communication. I’ve been to extents of attempting to contact regional management and they have poor communication as well. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
I would definitely recommend this apartment community because of how quiet it is, how friendly the staff is as well as the other residents & that it is on the water in a quiet neighborhood.
yes
Laundry is really expensive, my mailbox is broken, my unit smells like smoke and was dirty upon move-in. However I really love living here. It's a unique setting.
I've been a tenant for over 4 years and had five managers come and go, I'm seeing changes that are long overdue, with our current office staff & maintenance its a good feeling the property is in good hands. Very greatful for new changes.
I would recommend the complex to other people because the people are pleasant and the area is beautiful with the water in the back of the complex. The apartment is spacious with multiple closet space. This apartment has all the features, dish washer, stainless steel stove and refrigerator.
Well so far it seems like an early 20?s dream but all things come to light in time! But currently everything looks great!
The new service manager and staff have turned around my view of the maintenance here. The apartment is still in need of updating but I am pleased with the staff
I would totally refer people to come here and live I just think they need more maintenance personnel
The grounds near the creek bank/fishing dock need attention (branch and tree removal). Bit of a sore spot for waterfront view apartments. Also the growing population of feral cats living in reeds by creek is cause for concern.
Over all this is a great place to live , they take good care of us and the apartment buildings inside and out . They'll help anyway they can if you need anything - it's a place I feel comfortable walking around day or night
The community is nice and the staff is great. The maintenance team works hard for the requests put in. The issue is your rental renewal. I paid market rates coming into the community. This year the renewal was for an additional $140 increase PER month. That is over 13% from last year. That is so outrageous when you are living on a fixed income.
My name is T. Sawyer and I was called by Tracy today regarding a recently available apartment. I immediately met with her and she was absolutely amazing. I also met with Tiffany and they both blew me away with their kindness and professionalism. Needless to say Gatewater Landing is where I will be moving my family in the very near future. My family and I are extremely excited about this move! I will post a review after my move in. SUPER EXCITED!!

Hi my name is Ranay Sommerville. Im very interested in your apartments. I have been in contact with one of the property managers inquiring more information on the apartments. I like what i hear and see( photos ) from looking on line at Apartments.com This is a great community that has awsome features and plenty of living space which is perfect for me. I absoluty love the creek that it has. I plan to come for a tour soon and hopefully decide on an apartment that i would like to live in. This is a nice place to live and it would be "great" to win free rent for life. My email address is rsrSommerville@gmail.com. Thank You!!!
I have lived in many apartments and this by far has probably been the worst apartment thus far. Kettler has recently purchased the property so I see changes coming but not fast enough. I usually try to remain positive about everything but this place took 3 months to fix my door which was broken? I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone at all. Hopefully, kettle will make some positive changes because every time I go the the leasing office they don't even look me in the eye. I'm not very happy here. Can you tell? Welp. There you go.
I truly enjoy living where I do currently. The environment is quiet , the apartments are spacious, and minimal noise. I have lived here for about 2 years and wanted to live here another year but the property management changed and also next years lease was completely increased, so hopefully I could win this rent for a year so I can stay in such a nice place.
We moved into our apartment building almost a year after our daughter was born, we live on the second level. At first it wasn't bad, but than the gentleman below us kept leaving his tv up, the gentleman above us kept stomping his feet and keeping our daughter up, waking her up in the middle of the night, the gentleman on the corner bottom one underneath us kept his music all the way up throughout the building that it would echo on our walls, and everyone here gets along and been here for so long we were the only ones who had a problem with it, so of course when I complained to the manger I was automatically the bad guy. We can not afford to transfer knowing it costs $400... Which is expensive so we try to make the best of it knowing we do not like it here and would like a better environment for our daughter and somewhere we can be comfortable at. We love this apartment complex we just pick a bad location in my opinion.
hello there , i am a current resident of Gatewater landing apartments and i can not lie it is by far one of the best apartments ive ever lived in and ive moved around quite a bit because of unsatisfactory apartments either its a nice apartment in a bad area or horrible apartment in a great area... we've been through break ins, robberies, floods and moldy buildings so as you can see we never really had much luck hunting for a good place to lay our heads . I live in a one bedroom apartment on the top floor and i am right next to the water i have the best view year round and i could not be happier after going through everything we have been through to get here. Anytime we have any issues with maintenance they are out the same day or the following day fixing anything we need all the staff is very friendly and polite and they help you to the vest of their abilities. I will not lie and say i am the best tenant i am guilty of being late on rent several times due to financial issues but as long as you talk to them and keep them updated they will help you through the whole proccess in order to get you back on track while making it as easy as possible on you. This place really is great it is nice and secluded not on a main road but close enough to a highway and gas station for comfort there is a pizza place at the beginning of our road along with a bar and liqour store close by, we also have a great school right around the corner and a church right next to our complex ...nice place for first time renters or any kind of renters nice big pool in center and two great playgrounds for the kids and a beautiful pier with an amazing view for the fishers and photographers. Hope this helps you make your decision and remember not to rush into just any apartment its a choice that only you will have to live with. Goodluck out there!
