Property Ratings at Gateway at Ellington
This is literally one of the worst places you could live. There are roaches and gnats everywhere, but they will lie and tell you the property is clean. People get shot & cars get broken into and stolen here. Neighbors are loud and disrespectful, and office does nothing about it. To top it all off, every single person who works in the office is rude, condescending, and downright useless. They slap you with additional charges for nothing and claim they didn’t do it or that it’s “policy”. I literally cannot warn anyone about this place enough. Save yourself the time, money, and headache and go literally ANYWHERE ELSE.

I’ve been living here for one month now and the water, gets shut off weekly at MINIMUM once a week. They claim it’ll be off until 6 and then it doesn’t come back on until 8-9pm sometimes not even until the next day. Sometimes they warn you, other times you wake up to get ready for work and turn on the sink/shower and nothing. Absolutely ridiculous. Don’t move here if you like to take showers!!
This project literally has trash EVERYWHERE! There are so many drug deals going on within these. People are getting robbed. The new management is extremely rude and unprofessional. They don't respond to safety issues or maintenance request. You never have hot water or they turn the water off completely.. YOU will NOT want to call this your home.. Its not a home you will be scared to leave your apartment at night
I literally just moved out and I couldn’t be happier. They suck all around. I had a broken shower head and broken toilet and it took them 11 MONTHS to fix it out of the 12 MONTHS I was staying there! Not to mention they don’t communicate with each other in there. The old management was horrible and the new ones are just bad. They are never in the office and never answer the phone and when they do answer, they are rude and disrespectful. I e had so many unnecessary fees it was ridiculous. Got charged every month for trash, they forgot to pick up. Why have valet trash if they’re not going to pick it up? Don’t move here save your time and your money and move somewhere nicer.
The new management is horrible .(10/22/2021) people in the office are rude and don’t know anything. I call about rent ahead of time just to still be late and have our late fees raise our price. The manger is never there only missy and she don’t know anything. She will say i will call you back but never do at all. Also it haven’t been no problems with the last management people they were friendly and help you with everything. Also this new management will not let you do partial payments which is a major issue because I don’t get paid around the time the rent is due to put the whole amount on there that’s why I pay ahead of time to make sure the rent is paid. With the old management it was never a problem. It helps a lot .I have stayed here over a year now and last month was the first time i ever have an a problem with paying rent trying to get in touch with them and call them back and forward about it has been a problem and they are no help. Never notified that late fees was getting charged to my account until i looked and i ask them about it they didn’t really care. If I knew this was going to be like this I would have never re-signed my lease with them.
I have been here a 1 1/2 years now. I will NOT be renewing my lease. They were bought out by some company who does NOT have their stuff together to say the least! No access to accounts/rental payments. No office staff except one nice Hispanic lady who seems to be getting slammed with all the work! The new "manager" doesn't know anything. Has 0 answers. She is NOT friendly at all. I mean they knew they were buying this complex why were they NOT more prepared? Why aren't they appropriately staffed? This is a total disaster. Charles & his team are missed already! Oh and they are getting the amounts of residents rent wrong on top of it all.
Initially, I will admit, I was a bit timid to rent here, but it provided the best location for me (I needed to be close to my grandmother and have convenient access to 45 and beltway). I have lived here for about 6 months now and the property only continues to get better! The office staff is absolutely AMAZING!! They have great communication with the residents and truly care to resolve any issues that may arise! They really treat you like family here at Gateway! I have not had to wait longer then the end of the day for maintenance to come check out any issues and they always get everything fixed in a timely manner. I’m definitely glad I chose to make Gateway at Ellington my home, this is probably the best decision I have made since moving back to the Houston area a year ago!

Thank very much!! Let us hear from you if you need anything.
Been here since 2016 and just resigned another year. They are renovating everything so with that always comes issues but every time I have an issue it’s fixed quick. And the maintenance men are always courteous. Office staff are very nice as well.
Anytime I have asked for something to be fixed or done they are on top of it. I have a dog and she’s never been crated so they send the same person that knows my Lucy to keep her from having an anxiety attack. Everything is being remodeled and it’s beautiful inside. Even through hot water issues they send constant communication on when water will be off I actually had hot hot water this morning!!
I’ve lived in these apartments since 2017 and I haven’t had any serious issues. Apartments are clean, neighborhood is quiet and friendly. They’ve recently upgraded everything, built a dog park for our fur babies! The maintenance orders are always taking care of Same day you submit them. They also make sure that they are communicating anything that might inconvenience the residents as far as constructions or renovations. I plan on resigning my lease, because I don’t think I’ll find another community like this one!
Friendly staff to new renovations to doggie park. Couldn't pick a nice place to live!! Did i mention, fresh cookies in the front office!!
Just Moved onto this property First impression was wow Ms.Norma was awesome direct and open ready to help & very understanding the renovations they are doing LOOK GREAT Black & Stainless steel appliances I’m in love with the NEW place I call home ??
I have been here for 3 years and Charles is the first manager that I have seen actually take pride in these apartments. Since he has been here my work orders have been completed the same day. I have never walked or drove by Charles without a smile and a wave from him. Great feeling when going into the office the ladies are always nice and respectful!!!! ??????
Love the black appliances, gray wooden floors & marble counter tops
lived there 5 unfortunate years. water shut off all the time. a/c broke they told me it was plenty cool enough outside to open my windows. cops being called all the time. cars vandalized constantly. pools filthy when open, clean when closed. cracks in walls, window sills, let bugs in all the time. management is rude and don't care about anyone. in 5 years I met 1 decent person in management and 3 decent neighbors.
I lived in these apartment for a year and a half and it was horrible. Management will come into your home without telling you or giving you notice. I had a leak in my roof and they never fixed it. It was so bad, that all the water was going into our lights causing them to spark and blow out. All they care about is money and won't do anything to help their residents. There was glass IN the pool all the time. Cars were constantly being vandalized.
Place and staff suck. Brown hot water. Constant things breaking not getting fixed in a timely manner. It's nasty. Nasty. Looks great at first. But it is most definitely not
Been here for two months now, really enjoying it actually. The management is super friendly and handle issues that come up immediately. People are nice enough here and your neighbors are really quiet. They did a good job sound proofing the walls (you can barely notice the highway sounds..I forget the highways just right there most times). They do maintenance around the property once a week, so it's nice. And the rooms are very affordable and beautiful! There are two issues that stopped me from giving the full 5 stars. 1) they have shut off the water at least 2 times since I've moved in with no notice for at least 5 hours. Not that big of a deal.. But if I had kids I'd be upset. 2) roaches are beginning to be spotted no matter how clean I keep this place. They spray around the apartment buildings...but have yet to actually come in and do any professional big spraying in the apartments themselves. Doesn't make sense as they are just pushing the bugs inside of the apartments... Other than that I've enjoyed it here. Might even stay another year. Its affordable and you get what you pay for. Which isn't necessarily bad. Overall, it's been really nice(:
If you like RATS and their BABY RATS, this is the place for you! Every review I've read on hear is true except for the ones that are more than likely written by management to make up for all the awful ones! I've been in this place over a year and not by choice, I had to move to a new unit because the first I had neighbors upstairs where REALLY LOUD! I called management, the police 3 times, wrote letters, and called the onsite courtesy officer twice and nothing was done, but me getting a prolonged lease because of switching units. HUGE MISTAKE! No water/hot water many times! Security gates not secure! Rude management! I was told if I wanted new things I should move where they have those just for wanting a new shower fixture due to rust. NO VENTS IN SHOWER SO YOU WILL HAVE MILDEW! My ceiling started leaking the Thursday before Memorial Day and I was told no one could come until Tuesday after the holiday and no one did! Took them over a week to fix and they painted over the water stain which still shows a little. Management lies about no other unit having mice, but I've seen 5-6 and two been caught on traps, and one wiggled to death in the center of the kitchen floor, recently! I've asked out of this lease and been told no after I reported them to the Apt. Assoc. which they said all issues were taken care of. I wish there was star minus to choose. LIES, LIES and more LIES! If you like these features, this is the place for you. If not RUN LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT!
There are so many things wrong with this place. NO drop box- My boyfriend has to take off work to pay the rent because of it. ALWAYS turning off the water with out notice- we can be in the middle of doing dishes or in the shower covered in soap.... People steal clothes in the laundry mat- no respect for others There are people who smoke weed in the laundry mat and leave their mess laying there. When you go to report them, they accuse you of taking part. Not everyone is bad here. We have met some nice people, BUT the management is HORRIBLE!
If you move here make sure you bring your own hot water . We have been going several weekends of not having hot water . the excuse is always . We are working on it . They have been working on the water problem for so long its very sad .
I decided to live here because I needed a place that was close to Ellington Field, where I work. Despite the number of 1-star reviews you may see, it isn't as bad as they make it out to be. The management is actually fairly understanding in the leasing office. They're courteous whenever I come in, and are helpful with any issues I may have with mail or the apartment itself. They provided me a small military discount, and they also provided me a replacement gate card when I was robbed, provided I showed them the police case number. Since around November, they upped security a little by adding an entrance and exit gate for vehicles and enforcing parking stickers. I'm not sure about other reviews on the "no-notice water shutoffs" but I definitely received paper notices at my door each and every single time there is maintenance, shut-offs, outages or anything of the sort. Email notices are a new implementation, and I've only gotten one so far, but the paper notices do the job just fine. The apartment complex itself is definitely not the prettiest. The roads are a bit run down, and the greenery is definitely lacking. I didn't choose the place for the scenery though, I just wanted a budget place to live. At night, it definitely could use more lighting since it is a bit in a sketchy-looking neighborhood. The complex can get rather dark at night. I live in a one bedroom apartment, and dealt with the roach problem during July-September. However, since then, the problem has slowly gone away, and I don't experience roaches any more. The place fits my needs and has a decent amount of sq. footage for the price. There are laundry facilities nearby that only accept quarters (as of this review, $1,25 per washer load, $1.25 per dryer load) and enough parking for any guests you may have over. Water is per building of apartments, rather than per individual apartment. Expect to pay somewhere around $40-50 in water, trash and other utility/maintenance fees. I would give it a 3.5 stars, but leaning more on 4 simply because it's relatively cheap and you get what you pay for. The management has treated me well since I've been around. If you go in with the mindset of just your apartment, and you aren't too picky on anything else, you'll find a decent place to live here.
Please do yourself a favor and find another place to live. Rent might be cheap here but it is not worth the pain. Since I've moved in there has been 3 different managers. Why? Well, you tell me. Water gets shut off at times without warning, water is not hot enough. It's winter people!! Water needs to be hot!!! Roach problem is horrible. The pest control didn't even work. Only way I got rid of it was when I went to buy a roach killer at Wal-Mart. I hate these apartments with a passion. I can't wait till lease is up. I only gave it 1 star because I couldn't' submit with no stars.
The owner, site manager and employees of this property are rude, liars and thieves. Do NOT waste your time applying to this location. They will make you think you have a secured unit, then the day before you move in, they will deny you, wasting your time and money. A security deposit does not secure you a unit at this location. They will give it away without notification.
I've been living here for a few months now and thought I found myself a good deal because I am a student and can only afford so much! BIG MISTAKE. Management is awful here! They DO NOT send any emails out to residence for any issues! Which means they will randomly cut off your water supply (probably when you decide to take a shower or brush your teeth before work) and if you address them about it they just say that the water supply will be turned on soon and they couldn't warn you about the shut down because it was an emergency. They have about 2 emergencies per month and when they say the water supply will turn on soon they mean that they don't have a clue when it'll be back so don't expect it back for at least another 3 hours. As part of the rent we pay for a gate that is never closed so don't expect your belongings to be safe in your car (as always). There is only one way in and out of the complex which is off of 45N bound and is very inconvenient. You can only pay bills via checks or money orders because they refuse to set up a credit card system. There are many bees/wasps/other creepy creatures around (rats/possums/cats). If they need to communicate with you, they'll put a sheet a paper communicating they're concern aka if it rains that paper is ruined which resulted in a late fee for me. Also, don't trust the hours above, they only open at 9am on weekdays. They will randomly find a reason to tow your car for some reason or the other, which is easy money for them! If you decide to move here after reading this, you have been fairly warned!
The rent is low and most units have upgrades. Management is great and very helping! There are a few things they are still updating on the property but overall the property is a good place to rent for low rent rates.

It is always in your best interest to see the apartment before you sign the lease !! The experience I'm presently having is a nightmare, because I didn't see the apartment before signing the lease !! It was not cleaned efficiently or thoroughly or to any medial standard of cleanliness . To the credit of onsite mgmt., they have tried to address some of my concerns. However, my latest concern is about a rust stained faceplate in the bathtub. I was told I'd just have to live with it and it's "not a health hazard" to bathe in water with a rust stained faceplate. NOTHING IS GOING TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. The appliances are somewhat antiquated: no timer for the stove, no window on the oven door---you have to open the door to see how your food is progressing. I was told I'd need to use a screwdriver to adjust the temperature on the refrigerator. It is not energy efficient apartment and you pay a water fee, which varies .the complex looks great on the outside--like a place you'd WANT to call HOME.
Slightly older complex, but has some updates-- some units have hardwood and carpet, most have carpet and linoleum. This complex has boilers so it has hot water pretty much on demand that won't run out-- long hot showers!! Water usage is average billed to the residents. Maintenance is usually pretty good with issues if it's serious, I haven't had any major problems. Parking lot is a free for all and the lot fills up fast at the end of the day. Visitor parking is on the outskirts of the property and kind of a trek if you live in the center of the complex. The pictures posted from the property are slightly outdated but still represent the current appearance-- with the exception of the hot tub next to the big pool, it's been replaced with two large outdoor gas grills. It has two pools, but in the last years I've been here the smaller one has been closed most of the summer. Another item listed on the property is "Alarm", my unit didn't have an alarm system or sensors. Three coin operated laundry rooms on the property, my unit has WD hookups. Comcast services the complex, and you're allowed to have satellite if you are facing the right direction, you're probably able to get U-verse here as well but I can't speak on that. Not bad for the price.
Been here a few months now. It was the cheapest one bedroom in the area that was available. I really wasn't expecting much but it's really actually very nice. Nice dark flooring. Good size apartments, nice sized private patio, nice kitchen. I haven't seen a single bug since I moved in and everyone is really quiet! Would definitely recommend to anyone!
