Nestled in Hancock County, the city of McCordsville is a budding suburb just 30 minutes out from Indianapolis. U.S. 36 cuts through the town and is dotted with independent bakeries, cafes, and a brewery called Scarlet Lane.
On the north end of McCordsville, residents look forward to wine tasting at Daniel’s Vineyard. This winery has 15 wines and also hosts regular salsa classes, art events, and even kickboxing – all with wine of course.
When you rent an apartment here, you’re just minutes from Geist Reservoir, Winding Ridge Golf Club, and Castleton Square Mall.

Property Ratings at Gateway Crossing Apartment Homes
very very poor staff. Not clean. Maintenance lazy. Front office rude snoody run their mouth and tell residents your business. Very poor service. Don't plow snow. Had no street lights for over a year. Charged me more rent due to covid. Over priced. Don't waste your money time or energy on this place... not since BAM no thank you ma'am took over.
Found Gateway Crossing Apartment Homes online and it is located in McCordsville which is out of the loop of Marion County (yay) and a stones throw from Geist. This community is lovely, the apartments are spacious, well managed and maintained by an incredible maintenance guy who knows how to do everything. The clubhouse is classy, the gym is well equipped and the ladies in the office have impeccable manners and great customer service skills. The buildings in the back are fantastic, especially the penthouse units facing the big hill. It is like living in a nature preserve and we love living here! Wish I could buy our apartment! The stairs enable us to open the windows when the weather is nice as opposed to living downstairs where you cannot (spiders-bugs) and where you hear a little noise from the upstairs. A great selling point is we have not lost power in three years while Indianapolis et al seems to get disconnected during storms. The only trash dumpster is located at the front of the property, which is tidy and means there are not several tacky dumpsters overflowing by all the buildings like in other apartments. The maintenance man has to shovel the entire community. I tip him heavy every Christmas and would suggest others do the same. He works extremely hard all the time and especially during the winter. The office ladies arrange all kinds of parties throughout the year for free and for fun and it is a good chance to meet your neighbors and maybe even make a new friend. The pool is crystal clean and stays open longer than most pools. There is also a big community barbeque. Very walkable with sidewalks all throughout. Most of the people here are thoughtful and they do not litter and pick up their dog waste and keep their animals on leash. There is a train which goes by and it is a non-issue and does not bother us one bit. There are Police patrols and very little crime. The manager, Sherry, has always been very polite and kind. Erika is also a very nice person and has moved on to bigger and better adventures. Hannah, the new leasing agent has exceptional telephone and office etiquette, even stands up when a person enters the office, which is awesome manners from someone so young. It is nice to see this in this day and age. JC Hart knows they have a winning team here at Gateway Crossing Apartments and I would hope they are paid above average wages for an exceptional, quiet, beautiful, clean and happy community.
The place is pretty basic, with a few amenities, such as a small pool and a very basic gym with missing equipment, namely free-weights. The price is more than other comparable places in Indianapolis, by about $200 per month. The staff can sometimes be lazy, except for the maintenance guy, who works real hard and get stuff done quick and correctly. When there are neighbors who don't follow the rules, (which pretty lax and standard, but are sometimes exploited by residents,) they have to be coaxed sometimes to enforce them. They have a clause in their rental agreement that includes their right to create and enforce new rules without notice, referring "Policy and Regulations" handbook, which you need to ask for up front. I've never had any issues with this, but it's pretty presumptuous of them to add. It kind of makes me nervous that they can set rules that are not included in the lease agreement, and change them unilaterally, though they are still restricted by the "Landlord obligations" state statute. If you went in and asked for the handbook, them might not even have one on hand. The neighborhood isn't bad, but their are a lot of kids who walk from the gas station to the Gateway Crossing single-family home subdivision behind the apartments, who throw trash on the ground. There are open fields and farms surrounding all the apartments, so bugs, namely spiders and assorted "Nopes" can be a pain during the summer months, much more so in the first level apartments. Be prepared to spay repellent twice a month (no matter the strength), and always keep a Raid can handy, even in the early/late winter months. The wildlife can be plus though. Lots of frogs, lightning bugs, and a few deer are spotted near/in/around the complex quite often. There is also an active train track near the complex, and a crossing or three... their blare the horn 24/7, its loud... Its a good place for pets. With a decent number of waste stations around the buildings. Though, some residents get really lazy during the snowy months and don't pick up. A few people walk their dogs without a leash, and this aggravates me. Their is an additional non-refundable pet deposit and regular addition to the rent. All in all, it's a good place to live, but the price is forcing my hand to a cheaper residence. If you can find something better/cheaper/more private, then go for it, but this is a good secondary option. Beware the rent increases after each renewal, as it borderlines on absurdity.e
The service has been outstanding!!! Love the community and the staff.
