The leasing team is beyond helpful in case anything needs to be repaired or addressed. My move-in was managed really well and special requests were accommodated. Due to this being my first apartment in the US, I was ignorant of many things which the leasing office was happy to educate me on. The onsite maintenance team is also beyond helpful - victor and Danny are always smiling and working. Quick to react and quick to help. Location is fab too- beautiful restaurants across the street and in the building! Overall 5 stars.

Staff is always friendly. Really liked the donuts provided for the most recent free monthly breakfast. Would really appreciate if more community events occurred on Saturday or Friday considering my work typically runs past 6 PM Mon-Thurs. Wish there was guest parking & disposable coffee cups in the lobby, but I understand it’s all part of an eco-friendly initiative. Been noticing it stays warm at night and there’s no screen on my window, so there’s no way to allow air in without risking bugs/mosquitos. Prepare to use the A/C if you’re very heat-sensitive during the summer. Just little gripes that aren’t dealbreakers. Overall a really solid apartment in a great location. Would give a 4.7/5.

I like living here. Nice amenities include in-unit washer, A/C, nice street area, private garage, espresso machine & rooftop areas. I’m within walking distance of the beach, Main Street, and the 3rd street promenade. Maintenance requests get done very quickly too. Recently had a 5-star job by Danny who fixed the doorbell on top of my original request. Best place I’ve lived in SoCal.

Gibson is the best! Location and community is wonderful, there aren’t many amenities but it is hard to beat living so close to the beach. The new management company is much better than previous years, as well as the maintenance guy.

Great location! The leasing agent, Jacqueline tried hard to support me, but was no help at all. She was not clear on the paperwork she needed from me and the setup process for internet and cable was ambiguous. When I had set up an appointment with Frontier about a month later when I moved in they showed up only to find that there was already a router installed in the panel niche of the closet and that they could have just activated it via phone call. Although the maintenance staff was initially responsive and addressed a few requests, they never followed up with one item that was promised since I moved in, till this day the request was never fulfilled. The maintenance staff was also very messy, they had replaced the plumbing fixtures for more water efficiency ones but they left the water running when I was away and also left dirty shoe marks on the bathroom floor. When I requested to have my patio drain cleaned, the maintenance staff just put all the debris that was in the drain onto my patio floor, they did not discard the debris at all. Emails were sent multiple times to the residents for locker audits from a new leasing agent, I responded to claim my locker but they never logged my response until I called to give them my Locker number and to confirm receipt via email. Again, the communication efforts were lacking in their office. Also, their are thieves in the apartment possibly because of some illegal Air BnB activity. My lock and bike have been stolen from my locker. I had always felt secured and safe in this apartment until that happened. As for the apartment itself, it is very outdated and not as modern as they look from the website photos. The callbox does not function from time to time and you can not buzz any food delivery into the elevator, unfortunately. Neighbors are always dropping their trash onto my patio. Sound travels in and out of the apartments. You can hear your neighbors echo throughout the exterior halls and also through the thin walls. Residents were informed by the office to be mindful when closing your doors, but the doors are not self-closing, so they slam loudly. Lastly, another new leasing agent Brandon disregarded my request for a 30 day extension on my lease because the renewal offer was sent less than 60 days in advance. Instead, Brandon came off with a salesman type pitch to entice an immediate agreement on the renewal.

I have lived at Gibson Santa Monica for the last 5 years. I love the beautiful view, the open design and the amazing staff - from the Apartment manger to the security guard who makes sure the elevator is on my floor every morning at 5am before I leave for work. Im not sure how much longer I will stay but for now I couldnt ask for a better place to call home.

Here at Gibson Santa Monica, we strive for excellence, and are disappointed to hear that you received anything less. It is discouraging to learn of your experience with us. Your feedback helps us improve and we would like to learn more about how we can make this better.
Very disappointing. This building is extremely overpriced for what you are getting. The lobby is nice and the appliances are up to date, but other than that there is nothing that makes this building worthwhile. Furthermore, the staff is not helpful. They are somewhat clueless and dealing with them is very frustrating. If you have an issue, expect discussing it with each employee 3 times because they never follow through and never seem to take the appropriate action. If you want to live in Santa Monica, I recommend living in a different building. The Gibson is about 1000$ more per month than most of the surrounding properties because it has "amenities," however the only amenities they actually have is free coffee in the lobby and a roof with a few chairs and a grill. The building and management company have a nice facade for this apartment complex, but don't be fooled. There is no 24hr security (learned that the hard way after we were robbed 3 weeks after moving in), there is no guarantee your packages will be delivered (again, learned the hard way), there is rarely a response to your inquiries or emails or maintenance requests. I wish someone had told me this before we moved in.
