Newark’s dominant landmark and cultural hub is undeniably the University of Delaware campus, where the student body nearly matches the city’s population of permanent residents. Accordingly, many of the community’s resources are tailor-made for the collegiate crowd: an eclectic mix of restaurants and nightlife venues lines Main Street on the north side of campus, and affordable apartments are easy to find anywhere in town.
Despite the fact that it is primarily a college town, Newark maintains a diverse population with rental options available to suit any lifestyle. The sprawling nature preserves that border the northern end of the city provide gorgeous settings for hiking, camping, canoeing, and simply enjoying the great outdoors. Just thirty minutes from Wilmington, Newark also makes an excellent home base for commuters.

Property Ratings at Glen Eagle Village Apartments
New management is horrible they have turned what was a nice community into PARKING WARS. I have been living here for 5 years and this place is going downhill. My vehicle was towed illegally for parking on the line slightly without any warning or notification. The property manager Jennifer was not understanding to the fact that my vehicle was parked on the line on purpose because it was previously hit and ran by someone partying in the parking lot as they always do in the back of the complex. The person who hit my vehicle left an empty bottle of tequila and a empty case of beer. There is no security and there have been multiple break in attempts on my vehicle. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!
I’ll start with the worst part about Glen Eagle, the kids. The neighbors here let their kids run WILD and management does nothing to stop it. The other kids in our building were constantly running/jumping up and down the stairs and slamming doors too. The other problem is that everyone in the complex lets their kids run around unattended. Kicking a ball against your front door? Sounds fun! Kids throwing balls around the parking lot or riding/crashing their bikes inches away from your car? Of course! Screaming and yelling right outside your bedroom window and patio door? All hours of the day and night! Kids kicking their soccer ball onto your patio and knocking your plants over/breaking things? Every day! Stolen packages because people let their teens run rampant? Absolutely!! And when you bring these up to management, they tell you what you want to hear to get off the phone, and that’s it. The management office would send out emails but didn't actually punish people. There’s a reason so many of these negative reviews mention the kids. Believe them. Secondly, the maintenance is just okay here. They respond to your calls, but they rarely fix things in a timely manner. We had a leaking bathroom ceiling for about 2 months because maintenance kept forgetting about it (and one of the times they came to “fix” it, they left a bloody rag in our bathtub). We also went a weekend with no A/C last summer because the maintenance guy who checked it out on Friday afternoon said it’d take too long to fix it and he’d rather come back Monday morning. Third, management is so unreliable. I understand the pandemic has made life difficult, but there are certain things that are still unacceptable. For example, they do not keep to the hours that they set (and they do not send out notices when the hours will change). You can only re-load your laundry card when the office is unlocked, so when they decide not to show up or unlock the door, you’re stuck without laundry for who knows how long. Also, they deflect all of their calls to an answering service, who is unable to answer any questions or give any information. If you want to talk to the leasing office, you have to leave a message with someone from the answering service and hope the office calls you back. If you want to move here, buy some noise-canceling headphones and set your expectations extremely low. Also do not use the “security bond” option, it’s essentially a waste of money.
1 star is too much. This place is a dump. First off my building has only one row of parking and never a spot, end up having to park at a different lot and walk. The buildings are disgusting. The walls are filthy and the hall carpets look like they are 50 years old full of dirt and grime. Everything stinks the halls and everything. We are very clean people and my clothes in my closet smell like curry cuz the stench comes through the vents. Neighbors constantly smoking pot, and kids running around screaming. Nosy creepy neighbors. Had a woman open my door and stare into my apartment, and another looking through my windows. Also theres bugs. Again we are clean people and they are coming from other apartments. Guess I'm gonna have to trash all my belongings before moving. The air conditioning unit must be really old because running it on 74 degrees made my bill twice what my parents pay for a huge house. Literally hate living here and would move today if I couks.
(Single, female) I moved in pretty quickly after graduating college due to needing a new home ASAP. For a one bedroom it is a bit over priced compared to what you get in the apartment... but with some free amenities it can be somewhat overlooked. ***note: my building had no young children living in it during the time of my lease*** Pros- free heat!!!; hot water available even for hour long showers; electric bill isn’t crazy high; Maintenance fixed things in a timely manner and very kind; Laundry facility was always clean; Management always put up flyers for upcoming cleaning events so we were well informed; close to many things... 8 minutes to Christiana mall, 35 minutes to airport... few minutes to surrounding states; fairly safe and quit area; nice locals; I informed the leasing agent that I was a VERY quiet person and they put me in the back of the complex near a more older group of people. You can only hear the people directly above you and SOMETIMES beside you if they are loud. Cons- leasing office closes early sometimes when they are supposed to be open until 6 without notice; they say no dog, but many people have dogs; Gym not available, but new one is supposed to be built; occasional parking availability; occasional spiders/centipedes; little storage in apartment; worn out carpet and where carver meets bathroom and kitchen you can feel the nails under it; NOISE! The leasing agreement “mentions” quiet hours and to not disturb those around you... but that’s not always the case. I was warned by another tenant that the previous person who had my apartment left due to noise issues... which I found to be true VERY quickly. The first group of people that lived above me were extremely loud at 1-3 o’clock in the morning on week DAYS and weekends! Parties every other week. Got another group of young people move in maybe 8 months later (above me) and again... LOUD. Called multiple times , but little was done. Leasing office didn’t get back to me either after multiple late night noise complaints via phone call. Was told that to call 911 for a noise complaint. Be warned though... i called once before and it took them 2 hours to show up. It feels like living in a college apartment... you can hear EVERYTHING above you (including late night conversations and beds at night if you know what I’m getting at) so HOPE you have somewhat considerate people living above you. Signed for one lease renewal... but probably won’t be renewing again for the price and cons.

Courtney, we’re happy to know that you have enjoyed consistent hot water, efficient maintenance services, and the location of the Glen Eagle Village community! Please don’t hesitate to stop by the office or give us a call, we would love to have the opportunity to address any unresolved concerns. We look forward to speaking with you.
This apartment complex lies when you sign a lease and will charge you for TWO MONTHS after your lease ends even after confirming that you are moving out on that date.
Glen Eagle is your typical one year lease and leave apartment. For what its worth the the office staff is nice and does their job. The main issue comes from your neighbors. Kids screaming and running in the hallways with parents nowhere to be found. Obnoxious parties being hosted outside. People walking their dogs (I don't mind dogs, but they are not allowed here). Kids playing in the streets throwing and kicking balls that smash into cars. Hostile neighbors that argue with you if you take "their parking spot". The dumpsters always seem to be overflowing. Teenagers sitting on the stoops smoking pot. Whatever "Night Patrol" their is doesn't seem to mind people blasting their bass at 1am. I was able to mitigate some of these issues by confronting people respectfully, but sternly. This doesn't mean that each of those interactions was any less uncomfortable. In all fairness what I have said can only be applies to building 18 at Glen Eagle. If you don't stand up for yourself the other residents will walk all over you. Maintenance was also pretty good. In the end it wasn't worth the headache to live another year.
I've only been here a month and so far everything has been great! The leasing agent, Summer, was truly fantastic! My neighbors are very considerate, there's plenty of parking, there are a ton of amenities near by, you only have to pay electric ($38 for my first full month!), the rent can't be beat, the deck is a plus, and the apartments are surprisingly roomie! There a lot of smaller perks, but cumulatively it's a nice place to call home. Would recommend. Have recommended.
Here we go again - Just trying to relocate to the state of Delaware and took advice from a friend that Newark, DE is a nice place to live - So what do I do? I go on Apartment.com and search - I look at the pictures of different location and I check the reviews, set up an appointment to view the property and take that long drive from Virginia. YA! Do all that and when I get to the property at the appointed time; the person that I was supposed to meet is not there and the office to Glen Eagle Village Apartments is "CLOSED" - I noticed upon entering that two people were leaving but I had to see this for myself because this is the 2nd property that I have gone to; in which I had an appointment and come to find out, the offices are closed. Anyhow, just like the last place - I should have made an about face out with my car but again; I was curious - Surely, I was being too critical and maybe the outside did not look so good but all I need is an apartment to live in so that I would not have to commute back and forth Monday thru Friday from Virginia - After all, there were cute little kids roaming around outside and we all know that when you see kids hanging outside by themselves; that it must be a safe, good place to live....NOT! Anyway, I went into the building and stared at the "Closed" sign on the door and walked back outside to my car - The couple that I saw coming in was about to drive off and so I simply asked them about the office being closed - They claimed that they had an appointment to sign their lease and had called the worker of the office who said she would not be back for another hour or so - AND THEY HAD AN APPOINTMENT TOO - I said to the lady..."That's not a good sign!" - She agreed - I think she was there to sign a lease for her young student or something; she looked a little mad but who could blame her - Kind of curious to see how her story ended there; mind was clearly to get back in my car and leave...
I have been living here for about 2 years. They have the best staff onsite, they respond to your needs in a prompt manner and the facility is clean. The community is quiet and the apartments are spacious. The only thing that they do not have 2 baths with 2 bhk otherwise everything is good i would surely recommend to others.
My apartment is safe clean and quiet. They are good and they care about us. My Neighbors R nice considerate tenant. the people in Rent Office and the groundskeeper also considerate and caring. If they management can work with you in hard times they will. They work hard to keep our grounds clean n safe. I love living here.
They have the best staff onsite, they respond to your needs in a prompt manner and the facility is clean. The master bedroom has a great walk in closet and the apartments are spacious. You have easy access to I-95, there are bus stops at the entrance of the complex and it is less than 10 minutes away from a great mall.
I have lived at Glen Eagle for a year now. Everything was great and exactly what I expected. I never had to call for maintenance or speak with the property manager. For the most part, the neighbors are very quiet. There were only a few times that neighbors bothered me but it wasn't enough for me to speak with them or complain. The renovated apartments are beautiful and very modern looking. The bedroom is huge and the bathroom vanity is long which is great. The only reason I am leaving is because I really need a washer and dryer in my unit. If these apartments had them I would stay for a long time. Now that my expectations are so high I am picking apart the new places I am touring. I would recommend this community to anyone!
