Property Ratings at Glens of Northville Apartments
I lived there for one year. They are way too expensive for the Apartment they provide.Cheap Materials. And poor quality.
It seems there is way more negative reviews on places with people nitpicking every little thing they can find, this made securing a place difficult as it seemed everywhere was no good to live. After a year of being here, without having to ask maintenance replaced all the windows and sliding doors which are very nice now. Summer has started and my AC has gone out. Less than 24 hours after notifying staff through the portal, they were onsite diagnosing the issue and game planning a solution. The place has been fantastic and honestly don't have a single complaint at this point in time. Highly recommend this community.
We love the Northville area, and our neighbors were quiet /kind, which is the reason for the two stars. Rent was far too high for what we were getting though. My wife's bike got stolen (locked up in the car port, but chain was cut) about a year into the lease. Not a secure community (no gate, guard, etc.), and outdoor lighting at night is seriously lacking. Our previous apartment complex in Ypsi had a gate with a 24/7 guard for about $300 less per month. Management staff is also 50/50, and a few times, left the office early before close (no reasoning). Fitness center gets the job done, but equipment is clearly not kept up or broken (as of Dec. 2017). Example: Treadmill safety pin is loose and janky (can shut off mid run). Really just a "Hey we have a fitness center too!" marketing ploy. Being a runner myself, I will say the surrounding area is great for jogs. An upper-middle class neighborhood is less than a 1/2 mile away where jogs in the morning are great and quiet. Another 2 star reasoning there. Poor building maintenance. Building fire alarm would go off randomly, sometimes in the middle of the night. No fire, or smoke smell in the hallway. Just poorly maintained. It would go on and on, until it shut off automatically. We would be enjoying a movie in our living room (which IS spacious with the high ceilings), and BEEP BEEP BEEP. For 20 minutes. Never got resolved in the time we were there. In addition, washer / dryer units would periodically go out of service or stop working. This was very frustrating, something that was shared by us and our neighbors. Also, the speed bumps are outrageously large. Whenever a UPS / Moving truck comes in, you'll know it! You'll hear the truck's load rock from deep in the apartment... not to mention your own car / SUV when you pass over them (go slow!). Please check the news too. A father and son died in the pool on memorial day weekend (or shortly after) in 2017. Was all over local news, and we had reporters right outside our building for a few hours. Very sad, but another underlying reasoning for our complaints. ... we never went to the pool, with this news in our head. Luckily, we moved out when we did. I would seriously consider other communities before this one.
Whee do i begin.First ill start by saying Melissa was very very nice and professional. To bad i cant say the same for her boss Marlene. I moved to Glenn's after hearing about the fire and rebuilt apartment buildings thinking it was going to be clean and updated. When i was finally shown the unit i moved into, i was told it was entirely rebuilt from the frames out however they must of used non-union because the work was garbage. Brand new carpet already had "rolls" and NO PADDING on a concrete floor. The edges of the carpet were not even set right along the door-wall and you could literally pick up the entire carpet from this edge. I said something about it before i moved in and was told that they would fix it and use a molding along the edge as you should. Never happened. I said something about it again when i moved in and was told they would come out asap to fix this. Never happened and after 7 months i'm still waiting. On top of it not being fixed, I have millions of bugs coming into the apartment that i have to spry bug killer every week and it still is not stopping it. My water was lukewarm at best and when asked if they could turn it up to make it hotter they refused saying they have to keep the water heaters at a certain level because of the fire WHAT?!?!? The toilet would back up whenever the neighbor upstairs would flush his, The power goes out with the slightest breeze or storm, the grounds are filthy always, there is wires and cables hanging out of transformer box's on the wall (cant turn my hot water up but can have exposed electrical???) and the landscaping is actually offending. There is no grass around my building, just dirt, mud, and crab grass patches. They cut down a bunch of branches and trees back in February and they are still sitting around under the trees going into June. You can hear everything through the "NEW" buildings walls and even smell everything your neighbors cook. Do not expect snow to be removed or the sidewalks shoved and salted. SEEN SEVERAL SENIORS FALL ON ICE and once it was reported all they did was put a bucket with salt in front of the door FOR THE RESIDENTS TO SPREAD OUT.
One of the absolute best apartment communities I have EVER lived in. I've gone from renting apartments since 2004 to even renting houses in between & I can say hands down, I have never felt more appreciated as a tenant & well taken care of. From the ladies in the office, Marlene (property manager) & Melissa (assistant manager) who knows every tenant by name & their children, considering the bus stop is right in front of the leasing office. I've personally watched the assistant manager go out & assist two younger elementary children who's mother happened to not be there at the time of drop off, but because Melissa knows the community so well, she ran out to the driver & asked for her to wait a moment to contact the parent to see if everything was okay before the kids would have been forced back on the bus to return to the school. The maintenance guys are always out same day, even in the midst of this most recent VERY hot summer, handling A/C issues & treating every tenant as a top concern. Ever since this community was purchased from Hayman company formerly known as Woodland Glens Apartments by York Properties, which is now known as The Glens of Northville, I have seen nothing short of incredible attention, care & concern for this community as a whole. Also, just a few of the perks they are pet friendly & have a gorgeous outdoor pool w/ a waterfall & a 24 hour FREE access to the gym.
Our apartment is beautiful and has all of the required amenities. The staff is beyond wonderful and maintenance is top notch!
Glens of Northville is a nice place to live. There is a 2mile trail that runs through the beautiful woods. Very peaceful and everyone respects your privacy. The staff are nice people and the maintenance gets done on time.
90 FURNACES NEED REPAIR! TWO APARTMENT FIRES IN ONE YEAR....NEED I SAY MORE?
Well maintained property. The office staff are friendly and proactive. Maintenance issues are tackled fairly promptly depending on the urgency. The surroundings are peaceful and quiet. We moved into an apartment which previously housed a pet ,on our request they promptly came to give it another round of steam cleaning and have generally been supportive of us. The maintenance staff are friendly and courteous. Lots of storage space within the apartment compared to the surrounding properties, and reasonable rent. Would recommend it to other people. The only drawback being that they don't have a children's play area within the property. They do have gym facilities and a pool which is nice.
I have lived in Glens of a Northville for a month now and have nothing but wonderful things to say. I have had a few work orders since moving in and they have taken care of them very quickly. The upgrades are wonderful and the apartment is very spacious. I have no complaints with parking or noise and can see myself staying here for a long time!
Beware!! Most of the reviews on other websites are from employees only. Try "goggling" their names, 'cuz they are all fake!! They don't exist! 3 years, and 3 BIG rent increases, yet not 1 blade of grass or one shrub has been planted where I live! Even the front door is broken! Oh, I forgot: New Construction going on now as the complex is Re-Building 2 buildings destroyed by fire!! Every wall is paper-thin, and "fire walls" don't exist. A careless neighbor or an electrical fire has you outside in your PJ's in a January night! Management TALKS like they will fix your problems, but they go on and on! There is really no maintenance staff unless you are willing to wait weeks!! I'm stuck with a lease, broken promises, and plans to leave ASAP!!!
I read the reviews after moving in and honestly I haven't had any problems here. My boyfriend and I just graduated college so we're used to dorm life and transitioning from that to an apartment was easy! We've been here 3 months and no complaints! It isn't loud, it isn't dirty, and we genuinely have nice neighbors. The lighted parking is awesome, makes me feel safe. We moved into the Willow, which is the 2 bed/1 bath model. The kitchen is SO nice for how most apartment kitchens can be. Matching black GE fridge, dishwasher, oven, and microwave that are fairly new. The sink is stainless steel with a garbage disposal and overhead light. Enough cabinet space for the two of us. The closet space in the master is fantastic. There's no pantry in the kitchen because of the storage closet beside the coat closet, which I actually prefer since it's just the two of us. I use the storage space for the vacuum cleaner, his golf clubs, and his toolbox and I could probably fit WAY more in there. I'm 5'2 and I can stand in the middle of the storage closet with my arms out and spin without my fingers touching the wall if that's of any help. The washers and dryers are coin AND card operated, and there's an app you can download to load money on (mainly budgeting purposes) and basically track your laundry. For example, if I wanted to see if the washer closest to me was available, it'd show if it's in use and how much time it'll be unavailable for. The fee for water is added to your rent for another $35/month (at least ours is) The dog breed restrictions kinda suck since they're really strict but it makes for a safer place I suppose. They recently painted the speed bumps white so they're easier to spot. Can't beat the location. THE ONLY THING that's been bugging me is that we've been receiving mail from previous tenants now for the past month even though our names are on the mailbox. We just drop them off at the clubhouse before work but it's the only negative I can think of! Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice, affordable place in a great location.
This place as gone way down hill since I moved in and it's only getting worse. The management only cares about the money not the tenant. The maintenance staff is incapable of fixing anything. There is no amenities to speak off the pool is surrounded by trees that block the sun and is never cleaned and the newly refinished clubhouse is off limits to tenants. This really is a bad place to live
I don't understand who the club House is for..I asked and they said for them....we as residents can no longer rent it for affairs...no one visitsbthem to say hi only complain..there is no warmth here..staff is like the clubhouse...cold and harsh
I saw this complex a couple of years ago and passed. Now they have added some new amenities, a new management company, and are offering a discount to try living here. They raised the rent over $200 a month, so your "discount" isn't a real discount, and the place is filled with the noise and mess and bulldozers, etc. for all the work they need to do to be comparable to other places. We'll be putting up with chaos and inconvenience for at least a year while they rehab 2/3 of all their units (all vacant!!!) The manager just makes excuses.
The new management took over this property and they are doing a lot of cosmetic changes but underneath, it's still the same dump. The management office is utterly useless (except for one nice lady who I forgot her name). The property manager will blame YOU for all of her shortcomings and incompetencies. Don't be too surprised if you receive a fine for not cleaning after your dog, while you don't even have a dog. Or receive harassing letters for later rent payments while you paid a week in advance. You are better off moving to the apartment across the street and pay $50 more a month, yet keep your sanity.
