Property Ratings at Gordonhurst Village Apartments
I've been living at Gordonhurst Village for 5 years and I absolutely love it here. The Supers live on-site with their family and they are such caring wonderful people. Sometime it can be a little slow to get them to check on things, and it can be a little difficult to get in touch when they aren't home, but they still get back to you in a timely fashion so it's really not THAT much of an issue. They care about each of the villagers like their own family. When they knew I was going through a really rough patch, they checked in on me to make sure I was okay, and didn't need anything taken care of. I am a commuter and the apartment is in a great location. Bus to NYC right on the corner, and train is only a few blocks away. Only downside is if you like to stay out late in NYC the trains and buses stop running around midnight so you may get stuck having to uber on occasion. Definitely a wonderful place to call home.
I am a current resident of Gordonhurst and I have never had a more helpful or caring Super. She is by far the best Super I've ever worked with and has addressed any request within a reasonable amount of time. There are a lot of people in this complex, but she always follows up and makes sure items are completed. The place is close to everything in Montclair including buses & trains. The inside looks nice and has enough space so that you can have a decent amount of furniture and not feel cluttered. Best garden apartment I've lived in so far and I would highly recommend it.
I have been a resident of Gordonhurst Village for the past 15 years. I think the number of years speaks volumes of how happy I am to call this place home. There are some long term residents that live here, I call them the villagers. Recently we lost one of our Villagers and he had fallen with a stroke, he hadn't been seen for two days, knowing he was elderly the Super checked in, she remained by his side as he was a confirmed bachelor, called an ambulance and saw to it that he made it safely to the hospital. She remained by his side at the hospital, even reading him the sports page as he loved football. He passed away the next day in the hospital and thanks to our beloved Super he spent his last day with people whom cared about him. If you are looking for a place that will make you feel AT HOME. Gordonhurst Village is the Village for you.
We found this place when we moved here from 15 years ago. It is the perfect location! Decamp 66 bus right on the corner to the city, the nj transit 28 bus runs down the other block to Newark and 2 blocks from the Watchung train station. Walking distance to many great resturants and grocery store. Anyone that knows Upper Montclair/Montclair knows how much it cost to live here, but your paying for one of the best towns in New Jersey. This place is one the best options in Montclair. Quiet park like setting. We have 2 cars with only one parking spot (like most of Montclair) but we have overnight parking pass (6pm-9am) for 6 months for a couple hundred dollars at the Watchung Plaza municipal lot a block away for the second car. You can also get a $5 a night to street park ( online and print out) if guest are in town. We have not found the building upkeep and maintenance issues mentioned in previous reviews and have found the "super" to be very helpful and attentive. No plans to move anytime some.
We live in the top floor of the building and we love it! This unit is 2 bedrooms with a huge living room and eat in kitchen. The bathroom fixtures are "harvest yellow" and the doors are painted turquoise by the previous tenant. This place is very, very quiet and on the same block as the Watchung Train station and stop for the bus to New York. Also within walking distance are brunch places, pizza, delis, and a park-with a dog park! There is lots of storage and coin-op laundry in the building. An excellent place to live!!
